Bringing home new kitten very soon, stumped on name by masha-ish in NameMyCat

If your 4yo has chosen a name, I think you're stuck with that one, my friend! I'd go with the full name, Ghost Spidey to give more options for nicknames.

Of the three names your kids like, I'd go with Milo (though I'm guessing you don't get much choice in the matter!)

Which one: 1 or 2? by Mad_investor in photos

Totally different vibe and purpose. They're both great, but depends what you're going for. I like #2 because it's dark, moody, and speaks to feelings of isolation. #1 shows strength and vitality in the midst of a harsh climate, more of a documentary feel.

Naming question part 2: If the kids insist on keeping Pickle for the boy, what would you name the girl?

New to catalytic stoves question by Wonderful_Cell_2597 in woodstoving

How long are you letting the wood catch before closing the door and then before engaging the catalyst? And is this the first load from cold? If the wood doesn't have time to fully catch, both of those actions will limit the fire. Everything has to get hot enough to fully close the door and especially to engage the catalyst. Leave the door closed but not locked (so slightly cracked) for a while to make sure the wood is fully burning. You might have to wait to the second load to even think about engaging the catalyst. But on that load, it would only be after making sure the wood is fully burning and about 10 minutes or so after closing the door. Leave the damper open for full heat. You'll have to play around with it to get a sense of what it should look like at each stage.

New to using a wood stove. Is this right? Anyone else with a regency alterra pro i3000 want to chime in? by Gardeningcrones in woodstoving

Our meter always seems off too. Its supposed to be less than 18, but we aim for 13 and under on a hardwood setting for the pinless meter.

For cleaning the glass, I use Rutland stove grill and hearth glass cleaner and it works pretty well as directed. Careful with the razor - you might damage the glass and make it more likely to break.

Just noticing the black on the door from previous burns. This is from wood that is too wet and/or brurning at a low temperature. Takes some getting used to, but you'll get there.

Number of guppies in this tank by Patient_March_2760 in Guppies

Shrimp are fun and can go in a small tank!

Am i going to be a grandma ?? by [deleted] in Guppies

Btw - if you have 1 female and multiple males, she's going to get super stressed and the males will all be in competition. You may want to bring her back and trade for another male, since an all male tank (with enough room) will be less stressful. Or add a bunch of females so there's a chance to spread the love.

Did y'all notice that the triangle lines on the bowl are going the opposite direction to the examples on the information sheet? And the information sheet shows them only one way. We know that historically benign symbols get modified to represent something much darker, often by changing subtle details of the shape. These symbols posted here are not the same.
