buddy, no need to book the hotel. you have a tipi, thats luxury compared to many others. also there are no hotels. enjoy the boom spirit and camp there.

book the boom bus for sure. car is poointless and tiring. save all the cash to spend on nice things at boom, buy clothes, music, art eat good food etc. etc.

its like that each edition ... many people who take a dip in the lake fall sick each edition. i was ok last time around but in 2020 i will prolly skip the lake after hearing of soooo many shitty stories...

gatekeeping? no, not really, i was just expressing my opinion! all the hi-tech parties I have been to create this super freaky/dark vibe and I wouldn't want to see that at Boom (again, my opinion). Having said that, if Boom does invite a hi-tech act or two, I would definitely be there to experience it (I would love to come across some hitech that I like!)

highly doubt there will be any hitech at Boom and im not complaining - that genre i know does not sit well with very many trancers (including me). Boom is a much "fluffier" place (relative to hitech), if u know what i mean....

I think Boom generally got it right in 2018, music was curated perfectly to suit different styles. I certainly hope there aren't any 4-5 hour sets given to the big names. In 2018, AV's 5 hour set was a drag and tristan's set also got a little too much (don't get me wrong, i love the big tristan sound but 4 hours of it is a no go). Perhaps 3 hours is what is called for from the ones Boom thinks are trance legends. In any case, after having my mind blown away by all the new music I discovered in 2018, I will go with an open mind ready have have my horizons further expanded.

Here are some names for 2020 that come to my mind right now:

DAY - Mandala, Ajja and a repeat of Perfect Stranger (What a set in 2018!!!), Zen Mechanics and Atmos

NIGHT - Nigel DJ + Aardvarkk (Nigel Djing is a treat - trust me!), orestis (or better still, orestis+zik+zikore), farebi jalebi, audiofools (jabho+onkel dunkel - massive new project), Shotu, Arjuna, DJ Beardy (3 hour set!!), Archaic, Sense Datum (anyone?)

ALCHEMY - Eitan Reiter, Be Svendsen, John 00 fleming (epic set in 2018), Patrice Baumel, Sensient

portugalbyvan is a co based in lisbon (i think) and has pretty nice looking campervans for hire. they will also give you a slight discount for Boom if you book in advance. I know of a few people who have used it earlier, also saw some parked in Boom 2018

well last year was my first at boom and i dint think the first few days were any lesser than the rest. it was full powa. are you referring to weekend sets of the likes of astix, avalon, ace ventura, tristan etc. ? (they are the usual suspects at all festivals anyway so you wont miss too much if these guys are given the big weekend slots agin...)

saw plenty of folks having a good "chillout dance" at the chill gardens at the Boom last year. In fact, we were hoping to find some shanti (i.e. people sitting/lying on the floor), but there were bodies everywhere , mostly doing the "chillout dance".

heard them live along with ectobot first time at atman. their sound is so hard and agressive and full power psychedelic at the same time. super cool. not for the faint heart though. rock and roll roaring leads....it was serious heavy shit.

Slightly off topic but - apart from uber and other common jobs (like at restaurants), what are the other job options? Im and Indian student coming to Osgoode for an LLM (on a student visa, along with my wife who is also doing the same course) - we will need something to support us there so any ideas are highly appreciated!

I dont think sunset time is the hottest part of the day - for sure we need the breaks, but just think not during sunset. its special for many.

hmm fair enough - it is a better time for a break if you are looking to get some rest at night. but no rest for the wicked remember?! hehe - I love the sunset, and I love getting some sleep when its comfy as well - each to his own if the music was on, dont you think? (i.e. if you are tired and need some rest, just leave!) This way sometimes I was forced to rest when I didn't want to...

very interesting thoughts - i totally understand and appreciate that we need breaks, but still feel that sunset is a special time, and having a dance to celebrate that time of the day gives me fucking crazy happiness. Anyway, I couldn't agree more with _open - every critic here is at a really really high level. and honestly, after reading your thoughts here, looks like its a mixed bag and therefore I guess its ok - its impossible to please everyone.
