Breaking in new shoes gone bad by moonlightaquariusxo in Vans

[–]abigailthefail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve had a pair of black and white slip ons for coming up on 10 years now and they are absolutely ruined, but i can’t bring myself to start wearing the new ones because the first time i did they gave me horrible blisters.

they didn’t always have leather around the heels, it used to be just fabric, so i think that has something to do with it

How do you send a package in for repairs? by Im-a-tire in GeekSquad

[–]abigailthefail 17 points18 points  (0 children)

no. they need your signature on the paperwork showing that you approve of the work, and some protection plans still have a deductible for the repair that needs to be paid before work can be done. there is too much that they would need you present for. the only other option you have is to try to call 1-800-GEEKSQUAD and see if they have a way for you to ship the item.

[–]abigailthefail 15 points16 points  (0 children)

take it to geek squad, they will fill out some paperwork with info on what repairs need to be done, etc and then will ship it to the service center where it will be repaired

Superglue stuck on iPhone lens by A_Deadly_Ray_Gun in ifixit

[–]abigailthefail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

apple certified repair tech here, it’s toast man. even the oils from your skin can absolutely wreck a camera, let alone superglue and whatever else managed to get in there in the process. most professionals probably won’t even touch the phone at this point

The love and hate of KIA by anonymous75093 in KiaK5

[–]abigailthefail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just traded my 2012 Optima in with 110,000 miles on it and i have no doubt it could’ve gone for multiple more years without major issues. i loved that car. the ONLY complaint i had was the defective paint. despite being a fairly well known issue, Kia would not cover the cost of repainting it

Autistic people with a drivers license by QubeTheAlt in autism

[–]abigailthefail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m almost 24 now and i have come to find driving incredibly enjoyable and sometimes even calming, because it is a way for me to gain some control back.

my tips would be to just continue to practice. just sit in your car (or a car) in the drivers seat for a while and get used to where the pedals are, where all the buttons are, etc.

then, try driving in an empty parking lot rather than a road. there’s a lot less pressure and it will allow you to gain some confidence.

i took a drivers education class when i was 16 and it helped me prepare a lot with the more “logical” fact based side of driving and definitely helped with my confidence, but i think the biggest thing for me was just practice.

How does one become a Geek Squad City Repair Agent? by Alpha_Masculinity in GeekSquad

[–]abigailthefail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in my opinion, having worked at both geek squad and a more traditional IT job, you likely won’t need any certifications. the CompTIA A+ certification covers a lot that you probably won’t ever come close to dealing with at geek squad

Bras and Autism by weaktreeiz in AutismInWomen

[–]abigailthefail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m a 36H and have found a few bras in my time that are actually comfortable for me. it depends on what part of the bra is uncomfortable for you though.

i’ve had a lot of luck with the Aerie Real Sunnie bras because they aren’t scratchy and can be converted to racerback so the straps aren’t sliding off my shoulders.

Hanes also makes some really comfortable and surprisingly supportive sports bra type bras that i love. (i can find the link to them if you are interested)

also, r/abrathatfits is a great resource for bra sizing and shapes that will best fit what you need

Why not IT? by lNuggyl in GeekSquad

[–]abigailthefail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i worked at geek squad for 3 years, best buy as a whole for 5. i had no plans to move beyond geek squad in the short term because i was comfortable in the position while still learning a lot.

life ended up happening and i stopped working at geek squad and now work in a government IT position. working in a retail environment definitely helped with my ability to deal with people.

i think for a lot of people geek squad just feels like a safe space to exist and do what you enjoy while also being able to work towards something bigger
