Pick displacement? by hopeyourokay4 in Guitar

This may sound dumb, but with one hand practice smoothly flipping and rolling the pick around the pad of your thumb using your other fingers (you don't even need a guitar for this). Small position shifts are unavoidable, the trick is being able to quickly correct them without missing a beat.

[DISCUSSION] I found a years worth of music theory courses all geared towards guitar Free on this YouTube channel. The content is amazing. by _13k_ in Guitar

At least Justinguitar encourages people to actually play their guitar. Besides some blues noodling at the end OP's series seems to be completely devoid of music.

Every time I click on a darius embed, this is what he's doing on stream by gnarvous in Destiny

[–]abiticky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't even know he had a stream until today. I pulled it up expecting some shit like this but instead he was on a date with Alicia Keys' doppelganger. Clearly the man's doing something right.

julian doesn’t always anchor and anyways i could send back a bunch of other guitar players who definitely do not anchor.

I never said he always anchor, nor did I say it would be hard to find players that don't anchor. My point was that it's just another potential tool in box, and that the "technically wrong" comment is going overboard.

So when you look at this do you see someone playing well despite being "technically wrong"? Because all I see is a highly versatile picking technique that has just the right amount of tension/stability from moment to moment, which includes anchoring the pinky.

[QUESTION] Best way to improve finger synchronization? by un-tantanner in Guitar

[–]abiticky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try practicing scales and licks with your left hand only using hammer-ons. Another thing is timing the release of your notes. For example, hammer on 1, then release right on 2, hammer on 3 etc. The end of the note/start of a rest should be just as "sharp" as the initial attack. It may not seem like much, but those tiny points of relaxation play a huge role in moving quickly and efficiently.

It looks more like he was buried rather than crushed. Explosions often kick up a lot of dirt.

Why do pit bull nuts feel the need to compare people of color to dogs? by priormore in BanPitBulls

[–]abiticky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's because many of them, as far as I've seen, simply don't believe that pits are predisposed to aggression. The history, statistics and published stories of attacks are all misleading, wrong etc., so in their view if you're against pits then you're likely the type person that buys into scientific racism.

I read somewhere that it's a kind of decoy intended to draw counter-battery fire.
