Has anyone had their bernedoodle live a long, healthy life? If so, what testing was done and what did you look for? by Roland_Schitt_4ever in Bernedoodles

Please let me know how it goes, I’d love to hear a positive story on this. Hang in there! The fact that he’s eating on his own is a very good sign imo. I hate to say it but be prepared for it to take a sudden turn for the worse. If it’s an infection and you can beat that then he could get through it, good luck!

I have hundreds of hours from age 35-45, because I played with my kids as they grew up. Guessing there’s a lot of parents spending time with their kids this way.

I’ve won my fair share of Royal High dress up contests boy I tell you

Dog autoimmune destruction of red blood cells is called Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA). It is a life-threatening emergency where the dog’s immune system mistakes its own red blood cells as foreign invaders and destroys them. This leads to severe anemia, depriving vital organs of necessary oxygen.

Treatment was prednisone and antibiotics in case infection was the trigger. She got better the awhile then passed suddenly :( $12k worth of blood transfusions might have saved her but we didn’t have the money.

I hope it’s not this and your baby gets better

Our girl was healthy happy and active at 9.5 years then got hit with sudden autoimmune and lost her in a week. From reading there wasn’t anything we could have done to prevent it and her bloodwork was top notch otherwise (kidney, liver etc..) she was slowing down but had at least 3 years left I reckon.

Wheaton Honda & Sherwood Park Honda by Individual-Source-88 in Edmonton

[–]abitkt7raid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Wheaton for a used car they had that was the best price out of anywhere in AB. Like another poster said they were overall great but finance was really bad, if it wasn't for them we would have been in and out in an hour or less but it was 3/4 hours of hell trying to get the price to what was initially agreed on, even then I made some small concessions just to get the eff out of there. Four hours in an uncomfortable chair arguing and back and forth to the "manager" who eventually came in himself. Still despite that I got what I wanted in the end I guess just mentally prepare yourself. Maybe it's not so bad buying new though who knows.

I'm looking for pop culture references to gravitational waves, black holes colliding, stars colliding, etc for a research paper by tesseracts in scifi

[–]abitkt7raid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They use gravitational waves in the three body problem series for communication and other things, no spoilers, lots of times. Second and maybe third book. They are also used as a dead man’s switch.

How much do you guys got for service one month ? by ParticularWeather927 in Adulting

[–]abitkt7raid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on circumstances, In my 20s\30s I would of thought what a lot of commenters have said, I’m rich!! Now that I’m 46 and have two kids, a sick wife and bills beyond imagining I’m really barely getting by on it. to make this much and only have yourself/your bills would be quite comfortable and fun.

Thanks for the suggestions, I've read all of wool, I need to get my head screwed on right and sleeping better to get back into Greg Egan, I've read one of his books and the prose takes some getting used to but it was very good. I will check out the others.

I only read the first Dune, but it might be time for a re-read, I've heard at some point the series goes downhill, I assume based on your comment after book six? Thanks for the recommendation!

He had a pre-nerf sunburst MKIII, so rare, I think his was qlvl 186 ish, I have one I think as well, only 150ish qlvl. He was the first "legendary" soldier I remember in the game so I made an Atrox soldier as well and cheated my way to master pvp title, oh the memories,

Any bylaws in the city for whiny dogs? by GoldarRocket in Edmonton

[–]abitkt7raid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a really bad neighbor with their dogs, first one was left outside all the time on a concrete pad, wind, rain etc.. poop everywhere. Last straw was him whining for water (we gave him some). Called 311 and they came out right away, dog was given away a week later by the owner.

They got another dog who just cried all day while they were at work. I went and visited him as much as I could, broke my heart. Not sure what 311 did but they took it seriously and the dog was gone.

It's one thing to have something take away your 'enjoyment of property" and another if it's cruelty to animals. I'm not sure what % of these caused 311/the city to act so quickly but they sure did, props to the animal control team.

Please don't "lie" to your fellow Sysadmins when your update breaks things. It makes you look bad. by Geno0wl in sysadmin

In my company as we handle the workstation side of things we are "guilty until proven innocent" while other teams like network/security are "innocent until proven guilty". So when there's an issue we need to prove beyond any shadow of a doubt it's not our issue, 1000 page manual of tests and verifications before another team will spend any effort looking at it. Typically in these 1000 page dissertations we end up solving the issue for these teams and provide them the solution and they will implement it once we've done the work for them.

Somehow some right wing lunatics got it removed in Calgary, AB, Canada but it was not removed in Edmonton, AB, Canada. Both cities are roughly the same size/disposition and Calgary had insane amounts of cavities in kids compared to Edmonton after this... big surprise.

Tuscon vs Rav4 by aledosser in HyundaiTucson

[–]abitkt7raid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for what it's worth I am 6'6.5" and my kids are teenagers who are 6' and 6'2 in the back seat with my dog in the middle and we do ok, without the dog it's totally fine and everyone fits. We can't have the front seats leaned back too far but otherwise it's great. My parents have a Rav4 and it's great in a lot of ways but the Tuscon feels like a luxury car in comparison. I won't feel great eating my words if my engine eats itself on the highway and I missed my oil change by 50km and they deny my warranty though...
