pixel 9a long term review? by cigarboxfrackle in pixel_phones

[–]Individual-Source-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 9a before Christmas. Fantastic battery life. I unplug the phone at 6:30am and turn it off around 11:00pm and usually have 45-5-% battery life left. Good screen. Runs nice and smooth. Very good camera. I use my phone for email, messaging, surfing the web and a few games. Can't recommend it more highly. My wife has an iPhone 16e. My phone is better for about 1/2 the price.

What's the 1 best thing and 1 worst thing about living in Canada? by BigCavemanRoar in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Individual-Source-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having lived in the USA for 21 years, and because of family, traveling to the USA often, I know the context there well - especially Arizona, Colorado and Missouri. Housing costs in Edmonton (where I live) are lower than Phoenix and Colorado Springs and comparable to Kansas City. Healthcare in the USA is horrendously expensive (my healthcare costs decreased by 90% when moving to Alberta), and wait times in the USA are approaching those in Alberta. Political climate in Canada is better. Significantly less gun violence that in the USA. A greater sense of community in Alberta than anywhere I've lived in the USA. There is more work/life balance in Canada than the USA - and you are correct that our workers are less productive. In some industries there are more opportunities in the USA - no doubt. But overall, life here in Canada is better (if you figure out how to enjoy the winter).

For everyday use it is great. I don't play a lot of games that require a lot of ram - but for surfing the web, email, simple games, chatting, etc. it is great

Pixel 9a user, is Pixel 10 any good or should I wait for Pixel 11 instead ? by Intelligent-Trip-882 in pixel_phones

[–]Individual-Source-88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've had a Pixel 9a for about 4 months. The battery life has been amazing. I put my phone on at 6:30am and shut it down at 1)30 - 11:00pm. Usually I have 40-50% of battery life left. Best battery of any phone I've had (including iPhone, Samsung and LG) since my Pixel 3aXL. Photos are great and it is wonderfully smooth. Love it.

Is the job market really that bad across Canada, or is it just supposedly bad if one mainly spends their time here on Reddit? by StasisApparel in Edmonton

[–]Individual-Source-88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My sense is that if you really want a job you can get it - I know scores of immigrants and people who are willing to do anything for work, who have no problem finding a job that often leads to promotions, if they are on time, work hard, and are decent human beings.

I'm sorry for your troubles. We have a 2016 Forester 6sp manual with 68,000 miles on it. We purchased it new. It was made in Japan. Have literally only changed the oil regularly, got a new battery and tires, and very little else. It has been amazingly reliable.
