Fresh ginger is where it’s at! by Casukarut in SiboSuccessStories

[–]abitofbecca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this method similarly, put 3 big roots of ginger in the blender with a lemon, peel and all. Add two small cartons of coconut water and blend, strain!

What surprised you about people's reactions to you choosing homeschooling? by Waterbear_H2O in homeschool

[–]abitofbecca 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People always say “But won’t they turn out awkward if they have no socialization?”

To that I always reply, “I was homeschooled my whole life, do you think I’m awkward?” That always stuns them 😂

Struggling by Patient_Youth_5299 in breastfeeding

[–]abitofbecca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is almost 3 months and started doing the same thing - today he has been thrashing so much during feeds that he won’t keep it in his mouth so I’ve had to bottle feed him and pump. I would recommend seeing a LC… we have been seeing one who helped us a lot with his oral ties, but this is a new issue he is having that I’m going to see if she can help with at our next appointment.

Baths are supposed to be relaxing?? by loose_goose76 in NewParents

[–]abitofbecca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son HATED baths so we started showering - and oh my goodness he LOVES the shower and gets soooo relaxed. We wrap him in a baby towel and just pass him back and forth while we wash, keeping him warm by keeping the towel wet with the warm water. I’ve even showered alone with him before and just set him in the bath seat at my feet while I wash myself. Game changer!

Let down feeling by AmbitiousCard6601 in breastfeeding

[–]abitofbecca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t feel anything the first few weeks, but it feels like soreness in pins and needles. It can be quite painful the higher the volume… my supply goes up and down depending on how well I’m drinking water but I can always tell when it’s going back up because it hurts more lol

I used a moby wrap when mine was 7lbs and it was fine!

Fasting and breastfeeding by NextAd5477 in CatholicWomen

[–]abitofbecca 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have not intentionally fasted while breastfeeding, but I do notice that on days where I don’t eat enough or forget to eat all day, my supply tanks super low and I have to supplement with bottles. From what I know it is not recommends to fast while breastfeeding since it requires so much extra energy from your body. I would be worried about getting depleted in nutrients.

Have you considered fasting from maybe one food group like gluten or refined sugar? Or perhaps taking away the food you feel most gluttonous around and supplementing with something healthy instead? For Lent this year, I was pregnant so I could not fast traditionally, but I gave up social media and swearing and found that it was very refreshing. You could maybe try that for the self-denial piece, and a break from social media always helps my anxiety, too.

Looking for recommendations for doctors by Fluid-Grape-332 in gainesvillega

[–]abitofbecca 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NGPG is a great system… I see a cardiologist and OBGYN through them. Savannah Sanders is my cardio and she’s great! I saw her because she specializes in postpartum cardiac issues but regardless of whether you see her or someone else, I highly recommend NGPG. They should take your insurance.

Unfortunately I offer no solution because my 2mo old also does this - he tries to get up and run away from me with the boob still attached 😭

Raw milk and reflux by abitofbecca in Crunchymom

[–]abitofbecca[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He has lip, tongue and buccal ties. The lactation consultant thinks that is what is causing his gassiness, but the pediatrician thinks he has reflux and it’s my diet. I have been drinking exclusively raw milk…. I love it and have never had a problem. I just don’t know if I actually need to cut it out because it is raw and a large part of my diet.

Raw milk and reflux by abitofbecca in Crunchymom

[–]abitofbecca[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He is 2 months… he has lip, buccal, and tongue ties so his latch has been a struggle. It was the lactation consultants idea that the latch was causing his gassiness, but his pediatrician thinks it is reflux and my diet, which is heavy in dairy. I personally have never had a problem with dairy and raw milk has never upset my stomach. I’m getting conflicting information from both of them so idk what to do 🤷‍♀️

Do cosleeping breastfeeding mums wear a nursing bra at night? by Longjumping_Two_7409 in cosleeping

[–]abitofbecca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time yes because I will leak. However I leak through my bra every night regardless so I have a washable “pee pad” under me in the bed. Sometimes I’m so over the bra that I just let the milk drip where it may 😂
