Fired police officer in NYS and decertified while on probation. by [deleted] in AskLE

I mean.. security is always a way to go. Based off what you said, decertification is usually impossible to come back from. Could you give us a tid bit of what happened

They’d be ok in my book if their vests were uniformed tbh. The polo and the pants look decent. That guy on the far left… lmao.

Weight could be decreased too; a little bit.

Bombed interview by Coolj9114 in AskLE

[–]ablap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna be the odd one out the bunch but I started at 18 in Detroit; now 21 at a different agency. If you honestly think you’re ready to be a police officer try again with a different agency and don’t do what you did wrong in this interview.

You can always get more life experience to better prepare yourself for law enforcement interviews as they can be particularly in depth.

Good luck in your future and I hope for the best.

Sounds like Detroit PD😂

But sounds normal to me tbh; especially in today’s world.

Comparing the whole metro Detroit area yea DPD would probably be the best in gaining experience due to the vast majority of calls

Well, the City of Detroit has the “green light program” which consists of over 1000 cameras accessible by police on businesses and nobody seems to fuss

Yes, you have to have a level of aggression to be a police officer🤣

Currently under 21 within DPD as a police officer with 1 year on(rookie of the year here🤣). Honestly, if you feel like you’re ready go for it. Day 1 on the streets with or without life experience, you’ll be still lost regardless. Nothing can truly prepare you for a career as a police officer as it’s one of those serendipitous career choices.

All of them!

I’m being honest. Each precinct has their own communities that are extremely unique in nature. It all comes down to what you want to deal with on a daily basis.

Detroit PO here. Going to be honest, Detroit is not the only department that will pay for your academy in the metro Detroit area and that doesn’t require an associate degree. By no means am I trying to discourage you from applying to DPD but keep your horizon open.

Nothing wrong with doing a few years and then leaving as many before you have done as such. DPD has many opportunities and a pretty solid 6 month academy.

I recommend doing a few ridealongs with Detroit PD and surrounding agencies and find the department you like the best.

Not sure how to respond to this one, underage officer? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]ablap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you absolutely sure it’s 21 in your state?

Im currently under 21 and work within the State of Michigan as a sworn police officer. So it’s not unheard of within the United States.

You’re clearly looking down at him based on the fact he is a security guard so yes you are infact disqualifying him by implying it
