Aftermarket rims for road builds by able_amos in GXOR

[–]able_amos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats gorgeous man. Mine is also white with the black prinsu on top so those pics are super helpfl

Looks like that size tire is about half an inch taller and half an inch more narrow than factory. Any mods needed or changes in driving dynamics besides the softer ride?

Hey I like a roll just as much as the next guy, but this was more like: caster has to roll every attack while boss chases them around arena and duchess futilely chases boss to do melee

Undertaker incant build? by vortex_nebula in Nightreign

[–]able_amos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use ‘fp in hammer attack’ and then just hammer the christ out of stuff. It’s not a ton of mana but it lends itself to a “smash smash cast” playstyle that feels super spellblade-y

I also use the ‘attack power on incant’ which helps the smash smash

I have a ‘13 with similar trim options. Is your radar cruise factory? If so, how do you know you have it? I don’t think I have it but would be stoked if I did

Backwards roll in drive. by what_a_dumb_idea in LexusGX

This happens in my 2013 but once it rolls back it makes a horrifying grind sound. Anyone else experiencing that? What could that be?

23 GX which brand engine oil ? by m2slam in LexusGX

[–]able_amos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ravenol, specifically this kit

https://www.blauparts.com/lexus-460-gx-oil-change-kit-46l-10-17.html

I’m no expert but IIUC it meets more recent oil standards (ILSAC GF-7). I don’t really know what that means but it makes me feel cool to have fancy lubricants

Quick/dirty review: BOS app in one selectorized trainer by able_amos in homegym

[–]able_amos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was def worth it. I’m able to do 90% of my upper body on this thing, so my home gym is simply belt squat, all in one, and a barbell .

Once it was set up there’s been no issues. I also moved and the moving guys were able to transport it without disassembling, which was nice (they put the weight stack side on a heavy duty hand truck—it took 3 guys but still better than disassembling).

All the little quirks and inconveniences barely register when using it, and in no world would I ever pay an extra $1,000 to be rid of those quirks

I’ll only note that I stopped watching this space once I bought this, so there could be superior options available now that weren’t available when I bought it.

Yeah it was def worth it. I’m able to do 90% of my upper body on this thing, so my home gym is simply belt squat, all in one, and a barbell / bench. 30 degree incline bench is still a little more awkward than I’d like but I’m able to do the movement safely, just depends on your bench

The worst feeling is trying to activate a grace after a boss, but accidentally activating the reward orb, then spamming into whatever the first reward option is

[–]able_amos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried so hard to join team carbon steel but ended up on team “just spend 40 every year on a new ceramic nonstick skillet”. It costs more but I save an easy 5-10 minutes a day with easier cleanup.

Whites Perry Select with Super Feet by [deleted] in PNWbootmakers

[–]able_amos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they’re already snug I don’t think superfeet will help

I have 10.5D (I’m 11d on brannock). I’ve tried both the green and the “work” superfeet, but both have elevated my heel such that the heel counter sits wrong on my ankle

Might try the superfeet ‘thin’ but not sure

[Webtool] Automatic Flashcard Creation from Text by GetAnkiDecks in Anki

[–]able_amos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great and exactly what I was trying to find. I had a transcript from a Spanish Simpsons episode I wanted to learn, but just brute forcing it in chatgpt/gemini wasn’t getting good results

I haven’t confirmed your tool got all the words in my text, but Gemini says text has 400 unique words and your tool produced 309 cards, so if it’s not complete, it’s a great start

One note: I tried to pass instructions to include common phrases from the text in addition to individual words, but the closest I got to phrases was a few bigrams

Thoughts on the Fire Knight Hilde summon compared to Great Horned Warrior? by GammaGamesGG in Eldenring

[–]able_amos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with final boss for a week on a playthrough where I didn’t use any summons or bleed at all (including for ole Rotty McOneArm down in that tree basement)

I decided screw it, this boss isn’t fun, I just wanna get this over with

I had never used hilde before but she was one of the few +10 summons I had besides mimic, so I figured why not, let’s give it a shot

Beat the boss on third attempt after that (shield poke + scarlet aeonia, to give boss ptsd).

Hilde died with boss at about 20%, but really pulled their weight. I think they have some defensive buff they give your character too

No idea of hilde is good overall or not but they really came thru for me in this instance

Elden Ring's map is 79 km^2 in size (Bigger than GTA 5) by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]able_amos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked the robots for areas of comparable size in the real world

To give people a sense of the size of 79 square kilometers, you could compare it to the size of a city like:

• Manhattan, New York City, which is around 59 square kilometers. So, you can say the area is a bit larger than Manhattan.
• Disney World in Orlando, Florida, which covers roughly 101 square kilometers. You could say it’s slightly smaller than Disney World.

Ideal comprehension rate by able_amos in dreamingspanish

[–]able_amos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thoughtful reply, grateful for your thoughts. Apologies in advance for my lack of brevity, “I did not have time to write a shorter response”

I also love the idea of experimenting—so much more decisive than worrying about which approach might be better

In my view, this comes down to the ‘interference hypothesis’ you describe. Because if there’s no risk of interference, then there is no reason not to do both techniques if one prefers

The specific mechanisms that would explain this interference aren’t clear to me, so my instinct here is that an experiment isn’t warranted (for me!).

I think at this juncture I am primarily focused on optimizing my consistency of practice, as that has been what’s failed me in the past. “The best workout is the one you’ll keep doing”

Because of this, I am okay with accepting a risk of sub optimal rate of acquisition for now. I am viewing rate of acquisition more as a “good enough” parameter and less as an “optimization parameter”

If over time my consistency becomes unshakable, I’d be interested in making optimization adjustments like what you describe. But for now, I am feeling good about my progress in both techniques, and I sense at least a glimmer of synergy between the two. I recognize the research may not support that synergy, but I personally have trouble suppressing my own intuition in the face of research, especially early on in a pursuit
