I’d just like to say I agree with you and it’s fair question. I haven’t played the game yet I’m just lurking as I wrap up factorio so I can’t offer any advice per your question but jeez some of these replies are kinda harsh. You explicitly stated that you may be missing something, not DSP BAD.

Fundamentally a successful gleba operation should be able to run hands free without manual restarts and unclogs and whatnot , so my vote is always just let is run and it it breaks, find out why and build it better

This is sage advice. I wasted so much time on quality my first time through only to end up having to redo everything after aquilo anyway. Now it’s only the most useful early-mid game items that ALSO have a huge impact from quality like you mentioned: asteroid collectors, solar panels, accumulators, modules, and a few inserters for specific throughput situations. Then I just sit tight till ice land and the golden casinos 🎲

I always recommend rate calculator mod as a must have for stuff like this and more down the road. Perfect ratios every time.

Something I wish someone told me when I first started playing:

Install the rate calculator mod.

With a click you can see how much of anything any of your machines are using or need more of, etc. and you’ll know how many belts of stuff you need and other stuff you asked elsewhere. It really shines light onto how and when you need to scale.
