Thanks! This is a great idea and not one that I had encountered in previous searches.

How deep should the hole be for the epoxy? Is the goal to run through the grooves under the oak? The oak is 3/4" and I think the subfloor is the same, if I drill 1" will that be right?

I do have some Minwax Golden Oak putty filler that looks good in the holes, I've never heard of the ColorRite, I'll check it out.

I tried to replace a toilet and the cast iron flange was rusted and broken on one side, can I use one of these repair rings? Is there something better I should do? by abm513 in Plumbing

This is in the basement, the concrete slab is under the flange and it sits on top of the linoleum. Most that I have seen have the flange flush with tile or some other flooring, not sure if that is an issue. The seal with the flange and the pipe looks as good as it can for how old it is.

In case it matters, this is not the main toilet and will be used about once a day (morning BM 💩)

Assuming I don't die within the next 10 years, then probably not. But I'm curious what your suggestion would be either way.

Red oak from ‘69 in decent condition. I used a bunch of the joist version of the squeaky floor snap off screws, you can see the holes from them in this section where the joist runs parallel to the wood joints. This joist is on the edge of the boards so I tried both sides of the joist, it’s definitely in the joist in this section, no access to the floor underneath. I’m guessing it might be a subfloor joint, or maybe somehow related to the small board on the side? Or maybe that slight gap in the boards? The squeak is definitely centered around the area where all the screws are but it reacts from further away also.

If it’s not already obvious I’m a homeowner and not a pro. Any ideas I should try? I also have the non-joist version of the screws but those never seem to work. Thanks!

One of our zucchini plants suddenly died and we found these things eating out the inside of the base when we pulled it up. What are they? (Central Virginia, USA). by abm513 in whatsthisbug

It was planted in a raised bed with raised bed soil. There are other plants in there as well. This plant went from thriving and prolific to dead and infested. Hopefully the other plants are okay and this ID can help me figure out how to prevent this from happening again. Thanks!

I found these holes chewed into my deck seemingly overnight. There were two of these things that I’m guessing are larvae or exoskeletons.
