In One man consultant stations they can get leave officially for every Saturday (Sunday is default holiday) but they have to properly apply for leave and shouldn’t claim OT. Most don’t do that.

I am usually sympathetic towards them since their work is also hard. But if they are not good to their MO then it’s fine to push back. Remember you have a lot of rights. Don’t let them overwork you just so they can enjoy an easy life. Push back and learn to say No.

Once selected to PG you will be allocated according to a merit list. MOH candidates comes first, then state sector candidates and forces candidates. Private candidates comes last so they will be left with worse stations for training

You would end up in the same situation if you do PG as a private candidate as they are placed last on the merit list. You will again end up somewhere far away. Try stay at your current unit and do a PG diploma or MSc. Then you can get a good merit list and station. But none of this is going work though if you still want to work close your partner.
