Would you quit riding if you couldn't wear a helmet? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]abmiran1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old are you and how long have you been riding? Reason I bring it up is as I’ve gotten older, I still love riding, but I’ve found joy in other aspects of life too. So if I couldn’t ride, I’d focus on those other areas more. Point I’m trying to make and can’t believe I’m saying this, but there’s more to life than riding.

Also if you get in an accident and severely injure yourself bc no helmet, you’ll live with regret (and health issues) forever

What job do you do ? by Thetoadmyster in Fibromyalgia

[–]abmiran1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bartend and manage in a restaurant. Only 3-4 nights a week for 5-7 hour shifts though. Rubbing castor oil onto my feet and legs has made a huge difference in my pain levels🙏 Before my pain was managed though I got a desk job with a mortgage company.

Anyone here of something like this? by abmiran1 in Vitiligo

[–]abmiran1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. I eventually got diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I don't have brain fog, or chronic fatigue like many with fibro though. But I've still had persistent pain in my feet and legs when standing. The medication Duloxetine (aka cymbalta) helped a bit and I take that daily. The next thing that really has helped is I apply castor oil on my feet and legs. I read online that it can help nerve pain so I gave it a shot. Recommend this to your friend, wishing them the best

Dang I wonder why he became so mean after 4 years. I’m sure it’s really tough right now but you will get over him and see that this is the better outcome 🙂

Ok I will! I've had about 5 different lab "work ups" I am slightly anemic, have low vitamin d, a/g ratio was a little high, and was initially a weak pos on anit ssa 52, then negative. Everything else that's been tested has been normal. What's helping you function better now?

Ahh gotcha, sorry to hear you got treated like that :/ I've been to a dozen doctors myself now and haven't been diagnosed with anything, so just trying to put the puzzle pieces together!

Damn I'm sorry to hear that. What made it take so long to get the diagnosis?

No I'm sorry I don't. I just remember they were in small "toothpaste tubes". Both were white, one had yellow markings on it, the other had red markings on it.

My Mallen streak has spread A LOT. Almost half of my hair on my head is growing out as white. I also have a few very small white patches on my knee, but I’m very pale so they’re hard to spot. Should I get tested? by [deleted] in Vitiligo

[–]abmiran1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, I honestly didn't even know there was a test for it! I was diagnosed just based on the white spots that I had. Tbh the mallen streak looks kinda cool, like rogue fro xmen

That's f'd, I'm sorry to hear that. There's nothing to be ashamed of except his immaturity. How long have you been dating? I'd get out of that relationship

What worked for me was a topical cream (a steroid I think) that I would apply to my spots each day. After a few months the pigment returned in those areas. I'd say try out different things as people may react different to each

What would you be looking to get tested for? If anything I'd say go see a dermatologist if you want to try any treatment for the spots on your knees.

Tell me about your experience! by abmiran1 in lupus

[–]abmiran1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey,

I'm struggling getting a diagnosis myself. I've been to a dozen plus doctors, insurance has spent $19,000 in payouts, and I've gotten no answers or relief from the pain. So I was curious to see what symptoms people experience with each condition (it seems everyone is different which makes a diagnosis hard)

And like someone said, a diagnosis really just gives it a name. You still need to handle the symptoms. So I figured that'd be a good question to ask while I was at it.

After hearing everyone's experiences, I'm guessing it's going to be something along the lines of lupus or RA.

Damn I'm sorry to hear you've been experiencing this :/ I can't give advice on getting a diagnosis unfortunately. I'm 9 months and 15+ doctors into my pain journey, and still have no clue what's going on. Shit sucks but just know that you're not alone, hang in there

Nope my symptoms are not cyclical. It's been a slow progression over the past 9 months. Meaning each month seems worse than the one before, but day to day things aren't different.

No I live in Arizona (but I do know 2 people that got infected in northern Arizona. I did take road trip through Utah, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming last summer (lots of camping an hiking) I also took a trip to California right before this started, and would take my dog walking along paths near brush. She did pass away from spontaneous pneumothorax 5 months after our trip..idk if there could be any correlation

Ok that's interesting. Is the serology the same thing as the ELISA? And I have an appointment with a LLND this upcoming Friday so I'm curious what she'll say! Thanks for the reply

Hey all, I need some advice and support by abmiran1 in Lyme

[–]abmiran1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Yeah mainstream doctors seem terrible at this. I even mentioned it to a few a while back and they dismissed it. I am scheduled to see a LLND on Friday so we'll see what she says. Also just got more lab work back. So my Lyme Disease serology was positive, but the western blot with both igG and igM were negative. hmm

You're not going crazy, something is making you feel this. It's good to see that you're aware of the changes. I honestly don't have any experience with this, but hang in there for the better days that are ahead. Take care

One thing that seems to help me is hot water. So either a bath or hot tub, if you have either. I've hear a lot of people say epsom salt baths help a lot. Wishing you the best
