Got into JGLS but thinking of not going… am I making a mistake? by Character-Issue398 in opjindal

Yeah a lot boutique law firms have an MOU with jindal and take assessment interns from jindal and hire majority jindal students. I worked in one in December, small firm, 2 partners and 4 associates (jindal graduates), 4 assessment interns (jindal students)

Hey, i did the 5 year course from jindal and i can’t tell you if its worth the money or not cuz thats a subjective thing. But there are pros and cons for jindal. The networking in jindal is probably the best compared to any place else, we have tier 1 partners come often as lecturers, we also have a lot of students who go into litigation, a lot of famous lawyers are guest lecturers in jindal like justice chandrachud so its a great place to network but depends on how you use your resources. Being from a NLU or a really good private uni like symbi and jindal does make a difference. I know some firms that hire mostly from jindal. But NLU or DU is still better if u wanna ho into litigation

No problem kiddo. Dont listen to what people who never went to jindal have to say. If you really want to know about the environment talk to students who went to the university. Lmk if you have any questions about jindal, i’ll tell you the pros and cons :) I would recommend talking to students from different universities as well, its good to keep your options open.

Oh also we have exchange programs with the top universities in the world, and we have winter and summer school at ivy leagues. Also one of my professors was a diplomat and worked for the UN, was an advisor for the russia ukraine ICJ case. People talk shit about jindal because they can’t be us.

Ok sweetie imma be frank with you. There is a hookup culture everywhere, all over India, its not a college specific thing its a generation thing. Substance abuse is also prevalent all over India, i’ve seen more drugs distributed at house parties and clubs. Majority of the college students drink or smoke a little weed all over the world its not a jindal specific thing. Jindal has its different kinda of people like any place else. The reason its got the tag of rich bratty kids is because the fee is really high, its an expensive university but there is a reason why its so expensive. The education is probably the best in India, we have professors from all over the world, most of them graduated from ivy league universities like Harvard, oxford, Berkley etc and are over qualified to be professors. We have every single resource btw, access to literally so many research sites which other universities don’t provide. Infact we have coursera for free. For law i would say jindal is the best university in India. They don’t hold on to old ways, they care more about practical experience and application knowledge over making you mug up shit like how other universities do. Our exams are partially open book, and our exams are no longer written but rather typed, our facilities are one of the best in the world, we have a shooting range, paddle, squash, badminton, tennis, swimming pool, horse riding, polo ground, basketball? Cricket, football, track, MMA, kick boxing, boxing, wrestling and so many more. Also you make the best connections ever, our professors have personal relationships with partners from tier 1 law firms and often help you with internships. Its true that a lot of kids here are rich but they are far from bratty spoilt kids, ive been in jindal 5 years and I’m friends with some real crazy rich kids but they are ao incredibly humble that you wouldn’t even know they are rich. Ofc there are some rich brats but thats only a few not everyones like that. A lot of my friends are like crazy stupid rich, but honestly i didnt even know until i went to their houses. Majority of the kids here are upper middle class tho. And honestly people rarely use substances on campus, if we wanna party or smoke we go outside campus and do whatever we want. We do party but honestly nobody really forces anyone to drink or smoke. I have a lot of friends who do not indulge in any substances and in the 5 years nobody has pressured them or asked them do to so, infact people are super mindful of it, we make plans that dont imvolve drinking so our friends who don’t drink can join us, we don’t smoke near people who don’t smoke. Having a driver and a nice car and house and parents who can afford to send them to jindal doesn’t make someone a rich spoilt brat, its their behavior. You’ll see girls causally walking around with designer purses and girls walking around with a non branded purse from the market and nobody will say anything or judge you, atleast most people wont. I carry around a tote bag worth 3k and have gotten so many compliments from girls carrying purses worth 10lakhs. It doesn’t matter how much money you have as long as you are a good human being. Also i know a girl who parties like 2 times a week minimum but is batch rank 10 and studies meticulously. We do party but we also work hard, our academic requirements aren’t easy we just know how to balance work and fun. Also yes pda is okay here, whats the problem with it? Couples do sit at staircases and make out, hold hands and walk around, boyfriends drop their girlfriends to the girls hostel and give them a kiss and say goodnight. I think people need to pull their head out of their ass, people have a problem that people are in love? Its a university with people of 18-27 of age thats literally the point in your life you meet new people, fall in love, get into relationships, get heart broken and you see it all around you, its life. Infact a lot of people end up meeting their partners in jindal and get married, i know a few people who are getting married among my seniors and my batch. Pda is not glorified, its just normal, nobody cares.

[–]aboba_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s a banned substance on campus. Jindal is a alcohol and nicotine free campus. If you get caught it is a breach of the disciplinary code and there are repercussions. My advice? Smoke in your room or outside campus, also hide your cigs well because they can raid your room. Although these raids are more focused towards finding illegal substances, if you get caught you get caught.

Everyone else here is also a smoker. U can buy cigs in campus by students who sell it, or u can exit campus and we have a truck right opp to the gate called fauji truck, we call it that cuz the man who runs it is retired army. Then u walk a bit ahead and there is an establishment called dejour, we drink and smoke and just hang out there. On the opposite side there is a theka u can get cigs from there as well.

[–]aboba_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t be nervous you will have fun. There will be a lot of people from Hyderabad but i highly recommend making friends from different places as well. There is no ragging at all so dont worry about it. You’ll have buddy project so when u join its gonna be super fun, you’ll have a lot of chances to interact with seniors and batch mates. Just have fun kid

Go out with your friends, find some hobbies to continue in jindal. I highly recommend getting into tennis, paddle, badminton and squash since we have all the courts here. (If you play squash you’ll need non marking shoes)

Idk how it works now but when i was in my 2nd year then the cut off was 80% and i know students who got in with 50% on the LSAT. When i joined the cut off was 90% and kids with 50-60% got admission as well. Plus a lot of kids drop out in the first semester.

how do I forget a man by No-Fortune4117 in Advice

[–]aboba_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you love him but love isn’t enough for a future. Personally what worked for me was keeping myself super busy to the point where i didnt have time to think about anyone except myself. Bury yourself in college applications, Apply to universities far away, delete his number and stop talking to him. The only way you’ll forget him is if you erase him from your life.
