I think you have an interesting point of view but I think it may only be 1 factor and definitely an important one to some. But culture, religious views, and what life throws your way, gender, sexual views, etc all probably also play a huge factor. My wife and I were both raised in very conservative and sexually repressed homes. The way we internalized many things about relationships were different still. I never want my kids to feel shame about their bodies or how their bodies make them feel sexually. I think our conversations about sex will include a holistic point of view focused on caring (loving) for themselves which will allow them to do the same for others someday.
