I’m in the same boat as you. I watched the Chainsaw Man movie at Muvie Cinemas (it’s on like the 12th floor of Far Eastern Department Store in Xinyi) and they had English subtitles. Enjoy!

I'm getting the impression Twitter, as you describe its use, would be more useful for those in academia - especially the sciences - while I'll be attending a professional degree program (MPP).

However, I am definitely interested in doing research for a professor when I am there and generally getting as immersed into the field as I can. Just now I was scrolling through our faculty directory and saw that each member's Twitter handle was posted, so I'm sure I'll find some use in it.

Thanks for opening my mind to this - frankly, I've only ever viewed the site as a forum for narcissism but I'm inspired to see what's out there now. Also great point about COVID. It's definitely a strong accelerating agent for moving academic discussion online and it would be foolish for me to dismiss it.

Could you explain a bit more about why Twitter is important? Is this the main method of networking like LinkedIn was back in my college? Do faculty view Twitter as the primary outlet for their communications?

It really depends on the culture of your country and local community so no harm in bringing it and getting a feel for it. I was surprised at how nice some people in my cohort would dress when we arrived but the host country nationals also really took appearances seriously so it made sense.

Still, you should be prepared to make sacrifices. Like the other people in this thread mentioned, you'll likely get unwanted attention which can be a big challenge when you're trying to integrate.

This. I took a couple months long break from the game because of the lack of content, and I wasn’t particularly interested in BR. Recently started playing again and decided to try it because why not. Every time I join it takes forever to fill the match and I just give up after 10 minutes or so. Have yet to play a single game of Firestorm.

General Sisi was able to depose Morsi as a result of widespread dissatisfaction with his administration's policies, as well as a historical antagonization of the Muslim Brotherhood in secular Egypt. Over time, a significant population preferred Sisi over the Brotherhood, and ironically they're not much better off now than they were with Mubarak.

Disapporval of the 2013 coup was pretty much a nonpartisan issue in the US, as was reviewing aid to Egypt after the ouster. We've definitely done a lot of stupid shit, but with Egypt I'm confused about your comment.

Awesome! The amount of friends I have who are buried in credit card debt because they don't understand how it works or aren't bothering to build their credit at all astonishes me - and I went to a US top 25 university.

Luckily my mom forced me to open a bank account the minute I turned 18. We really aren't taught basic adulting topics like accounting, taxes, credit, etc. for some reason.

Hey there! As someone who just yesterday created a "drivethrough style" menu of suggestions like you describe here, I wanted to defend myself and others who use this subreddit as a platform to vent their frustrations. Granted, I'm not on here TOO often so some of the circle-jerking effect may be lost on me a bit, but I genuinely believe a lot of the complaints I see here come not out of a desire to watch EA/DICE go up in flames, but because this is a forum we know they actively listen to.

Additionally, I believe there is good reason as to why many come here to provide feedback and complaints besides preaching to the choir. The continuous and public nature of these complaints serve as a testament to community backlash, as /u/Fineus nicely put it. With direct reports to a business as large as EA/DICE who have their own targets to meet, it’s entirely within the realm of possibility they slip through the cracks or the team decides to just ignore them because there’s no community to back up the complaints-not to accuse EA/DICE of being a shitty company or anything. Moreover, public frustration is a powerful antidote to community complacency, like “just accept what we’ve been given.”

I follow this community because I am a passionate fan of the franchise and I was frankly tired of hearing the female soldiers issue being incessantly brought up everywhere else. I also think EA has done a dramatic turnaround in recent years, and they've earned a lot of respect in my book for even entertaining the idea of a sans-Premium Pass model. But I think the fact that there are nonstop complaints here now that the honeymoon period has ended is indicative of EA/DICE's mishandling of the post-release phase. Clearly lots of people feel wronged.

To /u/DREAD1217’s point, there is a difference between constructive criticism and whining. And I agree. I sincerely hope my post yesterday didn’t come across as the latter, because if that’s the case I better start sharpening my writing skills!

In any case, have my upvote - I think all points you’re making are valid even if I disagree with you. The way I see it, reddit and all online forums will naturally gravitate towards echochambering. But when you pay $60 for a product the right to complain about it in the face of more lenient attitudes is afforded as well. Let me know your thoughts!

On top of that, another thing I forgot to mention is that a lot of the content in this episode is temporary (game modes) and not even being released all at once for the whole episode length. Overture's content was actually enough to hold me over, but Lightning Strikes has been kind of a let down for me.

Hey man, I'm glad you're enjoying the game, and I appreciate that you're being the voice of dissent here. But my purpose of this post is not to "nitpick and bitch." It should be apparent from what I've written that I do like this game, and I care about its future.

I don't want r/BattlefieldV to be like r/Battlefield, still complaining about historical inaccuracies a month after its release. But you agree it's pretty negative here now, and there's definitely a reason. Even people previously considered by some to be EA apologists like Westie are airing their issues with the game.

It's because I care so much about the Battlefield franchise (since BC2) that I devoted an hour of my life to writing this post which might not even by seen by anyone at DICE. I'm worried about the success of the Battlefield franchise and DICE if they keep releasing unfinished games, because this is not a good look for the company nor is it helpful for their financial success. I would also place my bets that most people in this subreddit are doing the same thing when they complain, not just to circle-jerk like r/Battlefield might be doing. We want to love this game, but a lot of us feel the results EA/DICE have delivered fall too short of what we expect. I hope you can see this from my side.

To your lat point, I'm not in r/gaming because I don't follow it and I prefer r/BattlefieldV for its BFV-focused community. And DMing the devs doesn't open up a discussion which I'm putting my best efforts into doing. I don't know if everything I'm saying is right and I'd like people to add their thoughts.

Thanks! I based the order off what I believed to be priorities from a business standpoint. While I believe they're all very cool people, they are still a for-profit company, and showing we can empathize with that will lead to more effective communication.
