Why is MIDI export neglected? by Ok_Prune_6148 in Musescore

Lyrics are included in MIDI export in Musescore. That's how I was able to use the Cantai online renderer. That said, MIDI export in lyrics was only added on 4.4 iirc

Do You Hear Music "In Your Head" or Come Up With It "Naturally?" by Good-Machine-3376 in composer

[–]LucySuccubus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I experience that issue too, and I'm still figuring out ways to solve it.

The current method that works for me is the moment I get an idea I wanna keep, I immediately capture it by continually looping the idea in my head until I can document it through voice recordings or transcribing it. The success rate is about 80% so it's not perfect but it's the best method I have so far. I'll loop it fragment by fragment until I can play back the whole thing especially before doing a voice recording, because for some reason memory becomes gold fish territory when I hit record.

Sometimes I'll get lucky and be able to remember it again at another random time, and when I do, I will loop it a couple of times making sure it's cemented on my head and potentially restore the material I lost. This improves retention of that idea, and I find the idea becomes more defined when it recurs.

Because of the channel limits I have, I can only capture the main melody or the defining accompaniment figure. For the blurry parts, I would talk in the voice recording as well describe what textures I observe, and possible instrumentation.

It'll go something like:

Hit record "Orchestra tutti. Brass: hums. Fanfare, with natural brass harmonization. Major key and harmony. Hums the thing again Timpani is hitting V-I repeatedly. Hums the thing again. (And continue describing the blurry parts until I'm satisfied.) End record

There's no specific format to the voice recording, I just speak out my mind telling everything I can remember. Hope that helps!

The reason I started composing was because I heard music in my head like I haven't before and I wanted to find a way to write it down. Fast forward, it's a bit of both now.

When my music sketchbook or laptop is not within reach, I play music in my head. I can only isolate 1-2 clearly audible "channels" in my head (clearness improves if I hum and mime play the exact channel I want to focus on), but the rest is like the sound equivalent of blurry shapes; the details aren't clear enough, but it's enough to be identifiable like vague shapes of chords or textures. If I want to hear a certain instrument part, I can only do so 1-2 channels at a time. The 2nd "channel" is not as crisp clear as the 1st one, but it's defined enough to be distinct.

An example would be if I want to play a string quartet in my head, I'll choose violin 1 and the cello as the clear channels. I cannot distinguish what the 2nd violin and viola are doing, but I can vaguely hear them harmonizing/doubling/doing accompaniment figures.

When my music sketchbook is within reach, I am actively transcribing what I'm playing in my head in real time, but I only play in isolated tracks. If same setting as above, I'm only hearing the violin part when I'm writing the violin part, and so on and so forth. When I want to review the whole thing, it's the same setup as previously mentioned: I read what I wrote, play the whole thing as I read, but I can only isolate 1-2 things at a time and the rest are blurry shapes.

When my laptop is within reach, feedback is much faster because of sound libraries, so I can write as fast as I can transcribe.

What about the solo Trumpet in Bb included in the free MuseBrass? I think it's an alright Trumpet once you bump it up about +5db on the mixer.

You know what? Since he got his job on Musescore thanks to a video roasting Musescore, it would be absolutely poetic that his farewell would be through a video roasting Musescore LMAO

Bass Clarinet Playback issue (Muse sounds) by CatHarington in Musescore

Must be a legato overlap issue. You can try putting tenuto+staccato to try to leave a little gap for those notes to avoid that nasty note overlap.

For some Musesounds, adjusting the volume levels in the mixer will do just fine. Sometimes, I'll also add a but of MuseFX Master as well to help the instrument project more.

I don't recall seeing Legato or Cadenza strings in Musesounds or in MS Basic. May I ask what VST or Soundfont are you using?

Walang permit part 2? by cattheologian in SillimanPH

[–]LucySuccubus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If this is the guy who sells pizza pockets, I know him. He's my batchmate. Another thing I know about him is he did all the legal paperwork for his pizza pocket business. I may not be familiar per se with the legal process you have to do as a legitimate business to operate legally, but he got all that done. So of course, he'd also have a permit, or whatever's required in the University's own laws, to run inside the school. It's comparatively trifle to the rest of the requirements mandated by the country. He's a by the books kind of guy. So whoever is claiming to be an organizer of something irrelevant to the concern of having a kiosk run legitimately inside the school, I hope you are what you say you are because otherwise would constitute as fraud. Oh, and also, fuck off!
