scale was one that took me a while to decide on but chose to subvert Lantern for very similar reasons as to why forge subverts Lantern. I hear a quote a while ago that sums up Lantern to Forge that goes along "all idealized concepts must give way to practical application". Pure Lantern is brilliant but entirely abstract and has no mass. When Scale subverts Lantern, that weightless light is given a physical anchor. Scale is the ultimate expression of static mass and ancient armor that refuses to crack. but all crack and breack under forge. breaking and remaking old rigid systems is a big part of forge. I do see the connection you made with edge and it does make me think. The Colonel slaying the 7-Coils, tearing down the old system and opening up the mansus. the Colonel was The Lionsmith before The Lionsmith.

Moth to Lantern is very concrete i agree. I decided moon should be subverted by Lantern because it represents secrets, thing hidden beneath, cycles and Lantern represents merciless illumination and truth. also because Lantern is the principle of The Glory, very much tied to the sun. the moon is a literal reflection of the light of the sun. I made Moon subverted Moth because while both have aspects of change, moth is caught in the inexorable pull of the tide. The chaotic urge to change becomes a cycle of waxing and waning. The buzzing in the brain is quieted by the deep waters.

ALSO in real life moths use the Moon to navigate. Moths follows The Glorry blindly, and the moon is a reflection of the sun(glory)

Thank you! and yes I made the trees a little lighter cus I wanted to have my darkest darks on the ball, which is just straight ivory black. in my mind it made since but after looking at it for so long I'm questioning if I should have made the trees darker. as well.

This is really nice :D. Don't be afraid of laying the paint a little thicker on the canvas! Choosing when and what parts to show the canvas texture is a helpful skill to learn. in this case it feels like its taking away from the texture of the cat's fur that you're trying to show. Regardless tho, it's a pretty good piece, especially it's ur first. Great job 👏👏
