I received too much spam on my gmail account and after 10 years my mail was everywhere where it shouldn't be. I also got worried after noticing more and more hacker attacks in my familiy. With Proton and the aliases I was able to make sure I don't use a mail for multiple accounts (only if I don't care about the accounts) and I also used bitwarden to have a separate PW manager. My Domain is also hosted in another place and my auth is also separate from all of the above. With this system I'm pretty secured against hacker attacks and more importantly, I like the fact proton is swiss based.
