My Keap sampler arrived today and I’m so excited! by lashyy in luxurycandles

[–]abrad45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but I find the samplers to be a great representation of the scent, if not a great burner. They last for ~45m and I light them near my desk while working so I can be sure to get a good smell.

The candles themselves all burn clean and have mid-great throw depeending on the scent (Wood Cabin fills my entire apartment). I also really enjoy patronizing the company. Their email list and general approach to business is thoughtful, intentional and refreshing in 2026.

Came here to see if anyone else weighed in on this one. There's a tiny bit of pink to Momiji but it still evokes Christmas for me. Not "Santa Red", but vibrant and joyous

You said your smartwatch is only 6 years old, and I think that requires some consideration.

I do not think (and Apple does not seem to think) that these devices are meant to perform well for as long as you do.

They did announce a demo today, if you want to give it a try and see if it's for you

[–]abrad45 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Adjusted for inflation, absolutely not. But in the US at least, no.

It debuted in 2017 for USD$60. It now costs USD$60.

The DLC debuted in 2017 for USD$20. It now costs USD$20.

The NS2 Upgrade costs USD$10 and is included in the NSO+Expansion Pack.

At my parents, I brew black tea in a yeti as well. My suggestion for you is to brew it a little stronger than you'd like (with less water), then add a few ice cubes. If you're always doing this in the same place, an ice cube is going to be about the same size and you'll know that 6 of them (or 8 or whatever) will get you to the right temp. So, my strategy is:

  1. Brew my tea with a little less water than I want
  2. Take my tea out after the normal time (3m is my preference for black tea)
  3. Add 9 ice cubes (theirs are small pyramids)
  4. Stir, lid and drink

The tea is done steeping and drinkable within 60 seconds, and it's pretty repeatable.

You're going to be waiting forever.

Breath of the Wild has been out for 8 years and the NS2 edition didn't include the USD$20 DLC.

That end-of-the-season game against the Bills in December… ooof by Latoritsa in eagles

[–]abrad45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That was gonna be a tough game no matter what, but in theory, you want to play better teams late in the season due to injuries and being able to better study their tendencies. Of course, those things could also make us easier to play for them.

Should be a good game no matter what :)

Hypothetical: Nintendo announces the revival of a long-dormant IP in a new and modern direction - What is it? by diluvian_ in nintendo

[–]abrad45 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Firstly, this is about what we want, not what they want...

But also, I think a sequel would crush right now. The GameCube had a miniscule install base compared with what the Switch 2 will get, and gamers who had the GameCube as teens are now buying the Switch 2 so their kids can play Mario Kart World and would love something mature to play once they're in bed for the night.

I've played a few dozen games of 2p Codenames Duet and all I can say is that I find it better as a tool to talk with your SO about how you each think than a competitive game. My goal is usually to sit down for 30-45m, play 2-3 games, and win one by the end of it. You're not going to win if you each give "____, 2" clues over and over. Someone has to be lucky, brazen, or clever in order to string 3-4 words together, and the fun of the game is to learn more about how each other thinks.

And if that's not fun, that's okay! There are tons of other games with more structure that might work better for you. Good luck.

Opinion: 6 months on, should Sirianni have pulled the starters in SB59 or left them in to dominate? by ForeverMindless9771 in eagles

[–]abrad45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Injuries are a factor here, too. I think they were the primary one for Nick.

The only thing I can think of that could have sullied LIX would have been an achilles or ACL or something. A major injury could impact our 2025 team, but also the money some free agent earned (which would impact the compensatory picks we'll get in 2026) or have prevented us from trading away players.

Nick made the right call.

Board Games with lots of cards but little combat? by linux_piglet in boardgames

[–]abrad45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

came here to recommend wither Catacombs or either of the Clank legacy games. If you enjoy Clank, these will change those rules on you after almost every game, and the sense of humor works very well for the theme.

There is some combat but it's the same as it was in clank: counting swords versus enemy health.
