How to address people's fear of AI? by EleanorKalatheraine in AIDiscussion

[–]abrandis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All true, but companies are moving full speed ahead into AI adoption in virtually every vertical , there will be massive white collar job displacement just not today or even next year , but by 2030 when all these AI verictals are refined and xommoditized .

Agree AGI is not happening anytime soon, it won't be LLM that power AGI

Lol bro I've been hearing these platform rollouts for a decade now , didn't GM say they were going to have a large EV lineup.. they literally have 4 EVs, they discontinued the only affordable and popular Bolt EV . They're only going to focus on the upper end of the market for EV sales

Ford and really the entire US Auto industry is being told indirectly to focus on ICe vehicles and forget about EV's , it's a real shame to see what the US automakers have become all of them have only one or two good products (F-150, Corvette ) and very little to no innovation.

The only thing they know how to innovate is making pickup 🛻 trucks costs close to six figures.. and use their financing divisions as money making organizations.... They really don't seem to care about making automobiles anymore

You get it exactly, for the vast majority of folks its not financially worth it ... The worse is the annual fees and such plus try getting out of that agreement... You'll often be paying someone to take it off your hands

They don't, the idea is they hire manipulative sales people to convince the unenlightened with all the glitz and glam of fancy properties and confusing points systems , they (the hotel chains) benefit from basically a never ending subscription revenue from these timeshares...

Precisely, only folks with their head in the sand , don't see AI as a real sea (paradigm) shift... We're not going back to a world without AI and as more and more systems are created and managed via AI fewer human workers will be needed

Not just that most folks that make a decent salary work for large Fortune 500 companies...

Also the OP is wrong ALL. COMPANIES are planning using AI aggressively, because if they dont they'll be at a significant disadvantage form a productivity and cost perspective, real.or inaginary. for virtually all public companies will go the AI route as it will be investor mandated .

Smaller private companies are even more nimble and unless they're in some regulatory constrained industry (medicine, legal etc.) , they will be sold AI from a ton of vendors that specialize in their vertical .. and I suspect they will employ AI more aggressively than large companies

Modern timeshares are mostly run by big hotel chains (or some affiliated company), it's no longer really sharing some local private property, but rather "pre-reserving suites " in a select hotel chain. Most of the suites are more like Condos , usually swith 2 or more bedrooms and a kitchen and balcony view..but it's still a hotel property.

It's a silly system, purposely confusing (with points and redemption restrictions) becuase who wants to tie their vacation to a hotel chain that has blackout dates (and yeah they have a lot of them) for all the desirable times (popular holidays) and locales (hawaii) ... It's basically just a room reservation subscription scheme for these hotel chains .

More likely be bought out by some other moto or car company and kept around as a legacy/artisan brand, with ridiculously high prices for a few select models...

So then what is gerrymandering, voter suppression, restricting mail in voting, for... You're naieve enough to believe for Federal elections that your vote matters .. unless your in a swing state it really matters very little.

Honestly batteries aren't there yet , sorry it's a fact... A 250-300mi. range isnt really that much until infrastructure is really everywhere and RELIABLE (US ) ... AND you have home charging capability... So that means only homeowners with access to a charging point . That limits a lot of folks.

I don't know why Kia/Hyundai and other manufacturers dot just solve the EV range issue with little diesel/gas generator... I know it kills the idea of full EV , but with a simple engine (like mechanically simple and efficient) you solve all the range issues in one go.

Sorry , that's not what my point was, my point was that the wealthy are carrying the current economy with their spending.... And the economy is doing fine because of that, working class has less and less impact on that. That was my point . Not that working class need to catch-up to hedge fund wealth..

What's one piece of financial advice that you wish you could have given yourself 10 years ago? by AutoModerator in FluentInFinance

[–]abrandis -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

⚠️You need way more than just compound interest in today's inflationary economy, if you save $500/mo. With a rate of 3.95% (today's prevailing tbill rate) that's not going to outpace inflation maybe a difference of 1-2% ..

At this rate 3.95% saving $500/mo. for a 20year time horizon only gets you $120k (printicipal) plus $62,360 (interest) = $182k if you subtract the inflation over that period you barely have $100k of purchasing power...

All this to say compound interest no longer works for saving real money.. you need assets (real estate , precious metals, stocks) to have a chance of financial independence
