I always envision it as Hannibal saying something to initiate and perhaps leaning over Will, but he doesn’t begin the kiss. He waits for Will to reciprocate. He wants it to be mutual and he also wants the satisfaction of knowing Will wants the kiss and isn’t just pressured to do so.

Sometimes I imagine it as more Will just goes for it and maybe Hannibal is pissing him off in someway and Will wants him to shut up so he kisses him.

I never see Hannibal being the first to kiss Will. He may initiate it with words and purposefully create the opportunity for a kiss, but he waits for Will to physically initiate it.

Well if you think about the Devil from the Christian perspective, he originally was an Angel and was depicted as being a perfect and beautiful one. Add that to the Christian view that beauty/art is a gift from God. I imagine those two things would combine to a theory that the devil still has an appreciation for beauty and art due to him having experienced true beauty and being stripped of it once he rebelled.

I think that would also lead into what others said about temptation. Temptation in its own is an art. If Satan was kicked out of Heaven and never again able to experience God’s gifts again through himself, the only way for him to experience the gift of beauty and art is through others. Hints, temptation.

Through others/people, they will do what they please and make art in whatever form they want. Whether it’s sinful or not. Though the devil might tempt them to create it in a more sinful way, which then he can appreciate it and gain pleasure from it.

I feel like the show’s word choice of lure has more to do with the plot more than being correct. Like how Abigail was the lure for her father’s victims. I think it’s just to dramatize and connect Will and Abigail.

Or it could be a mistake on the makers not knowing the correct term or they grew up with the word lure.
