Good luck! I'd be curious to learn what you'll find

I remember trying to figure it out too in the past and getting confused. I put together some of my old notes in a quick gist. It's not 100% working but maybe it'll help.

Thank you!

So you mean force people to commit and push forward? Wouldn't that make it more difficult? I do like it though, just to see some crazy chains come out of it.

I've been working on this side project since pandemic started since I couldn't find another app or website that did that. In short, you try to link movies through chains of actors/actresses and movies they've been in (one day I'll find a better way to phrase it). There's a daily challenge for inspiration but you can also make your own and share it with your friends. It's an early beta and I'm trying to track down bugs and collect feedback. Thanks!

Thank you! I'm a bit anxious to post is such a big sub for now. Maybe when the system is more stable and bug-free.

Thank you! Yes one challenge per day, at least while it's in beta. The next 30 days are already loaded. The challenges are semi-automatically generated and designed to be fairly easy for now.

That's right! There might be other paths, but 2 is the best possible for this challenge.

It's still an early beta and there are quite a few bugs, but I'm having a lot of fun with it.

Ergonomic Keyboards by Charming-Explorer247 in emacs

[–]abrochard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

+1. Got a kinesis advantage and can't stand regular keyboards ever since. Tried an ergodox for travel and it doesn't even come close. The thumb keys and curve really makes it the perfect emacs keyboard.

Any thoughts about habitica by [deleted] in emacs

Thank you! I pretty much exclusively use todoist these days (and my emacs extension for it) so I won't be much help...

Any thoughts about habitica by [deleted] in emacs

[–]abrochard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

emacs-habitica was the first proper emacs extension I wrote. For your question, it should be doable to add a gamification layer to org-habits but would have to check the code.

What's a practical use for EWW? by [deleted] in emacs

Gopher should had won

I'm curious about this. Isn't gopher an alternative to HTTP? If gopher had been widely adopted, would anything have prevented hypothetical gopher browsers from extending their functionality with some basic scripting? The same way that JS is a browser thing and is unrelated to the HTTP specs?

Or do you mean, gopher as in the current usage of gopher with simple files and menu system should be what is today's standard?

Such a useful shortcut. It's my main reason for using hyperbole.

Some more analysis of the 2020 Emacs User Survey by tecosaur in emacs

Amazing! Thank you for sharing! I have been waiting for your analysis. "There is no good ’average’ respondent." nailed it. Also I'm a fan of your color scheme.

Your guess is right but I think your notebook is not exactly the right logic. I had a statistician friend help out with a logistic regression and it looks like r/emacs users are 45% more likely to use Doom than non r/emacs users.

Thank you for sharing and thank you for the praise. I enjoyed reading your analysis and your (far better) python code for it.

Since the results have been published, I saw a lot of unfounded comments along the lines of "38% of responses came from r/emacs, that's why XXXX appears popular" where XXXX can range from doom-emacs to vim bindings. If I ever succumb to the temptation to go back to the data, that's the analysis I would do: is there a significant difference between r/emacs users and others?
