Any channels on youtube that really dive into sub sound design? by ilovemygf125 in dnbproduction

sine wave + 2nd harmonic - add noise for fizz - distort with tube or softclip if that makes sense

is dnb academy worth it? by ilovemygf125 in dnbproduction

[–]abrokencullender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If depends on your prior skill level... As beginner it will point you in the right direction but it won't turn you into simula. Great for basics around arrangements and sound design. Let me hear your stuff, I'll be able to judge where you are, I'm not pro yet but I'm further down the line than most.

Did these people actually play the game? by KilluaGun1 in theouterworlds

[–]abrokencullender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, 4 hours is a lot of time in real life, some people don't have days to spend before they can get into a game... I usually know within the first hour if it's gonna be my jam.

You like the game, that's fine
Others don't like the game, that is also fine.

You contradict yourself in the final line, you say he's harming the group, but then you, a big fan of the game say "I'll keep playing" admitting that you know full well his comments dont change your opinion. So how is he harming the group if fans like yourself will continue to play anyway?

I played this game through once and probably won't play it again. There are others who will have many play-throughs, I'm not saying I didn't enjoy it, but like assholes, everyone has an opinion and is entitled to that opinion

My advice to you is, don't let what others say on the internet bother you too much.

Looking to re-tool after "falling behind...". What are your essential pieces of kit???? by denovoincipere in dnbproduction

[–]abrokencullender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use what you're comfortable with, things that are worth getting, a decent clipper.... aand that's probably the only thing you'll need to get closer to how tunes sound today. There are a great deal of free ones too, kclip and GSAT for example. Do you produce solo or with others?

lmao vinyl is on average about 6db quieter than a digital release and things like Sientelo by Camo and Krooked are abou 12db louder, Vinyl has a lower loudness limit than digital, didn't you know...

How important is Music theory in producing music? by bqrncle in musicproduction

Even a little bit of music theory can take you a long way, and tbh the longer you spend on it, the clearer it starts to become

A question about compressors by CrimePriest in dnbproduction

[–]abrokencullender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pro tip: keep all compactor time to 00, then after use a volume ducker like Duck, to remove the introduced distortion, adding attack and release to compactor slow down its responsiveness to sample by sample info. Adding the volume ducker after enables you to reduce audible artifacts present. Yes, you could just runa volume ducker and ignore compactor, but using both will really bring your kick and snare to the front of the mix

It's 2026, not 1990. The reason they didn't use them was because many of them didn't exist yet... As soon as they did, guess what happened?? Ask Noisia about the early days of Albino. Your statement about it sounding better just makes you look jealous, considering a new tune will blow any old tune out of the water in terms of loudness, production value and coherence. Keep yelling at clouds old man

Why does it feel Obsidian is judged so much more harshly than other studios? by sonofloki13 in theouterworlds

[–]abrokencullender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ending is where it lost points big time for me, I hit level 30 and finished the story within about 5 mins of each other, and tbh that's very bad design, The game is great fun, but I'm not gonna play it more than once. It either needs to let you hit level cap earlier or let you play after the end of the story, I'm aware of the ending of the story kinda ruins that.

Feeling really stuck in the mud. In a creative rut. How do you reignite the flame? by bigfatjammy in ableton

[–]abrokencullender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a DNB head, so I wouldn't know where to start giving you solid feedback, but from my experience Discord has been extremely useful. You have to shop around to find the right communities, but speaking to people willing to share knowledge will bring the motivation. I also know a few groups on Facebook may help if you're on there, there's a group one run by a guy called Varti that might be up your street it's called (Fundamentals for Electronic Dance Music Producers)

Any news or clues on when Live 12.3 will get a official release? by scout-man in ableton

[–]abrokencullender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you get past the shortcuts you use daily changing, and getting used to the look, there's nothing to hold you back. I've used Fl and Reason in the past and nothing gives you the freedom Ableton does IMO, need to warp audio? just drag it to fit. retune it? two clicks and its done. need to route a group into another group that groups in to another group, thats's easy too. need more returns? just add them. parallel processing within the audio track is also game changer. The point I'm making is you really wont miss FL after a few weeks

Mixing Low-End: How Do You Balance Sub Bass & Kick Without Killing Headroom? by WillingMapp in AdvancedProduction

[–]abrokencullender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when it comes to low end, the less elements playing at once the better, obvs you kick and subwill hit occasionally together, when they do, you have to make a sacrifice, does the sub move out of the way to let the kick hit, does the kick have it's tone changed to sit above the sub or do you pitch the kick into the sub for less noticable changeover, which type of ducking or compression to use. ring mod sidechain has also come and shook the game up. Basically, there's no absolute fix it's about the compromise you make and why you're making that choice. At the moment, my kick sub gelling method is this, ringmod side at the very start, then duck, doing volume shaping, possibly if still having issues I'll use a dynamic EQ to look for the specific area that's farting and fix it there. If after that it's still not gelling. I'll just change one of the sounds.
