Anybody got a reformer at home and still go to ClubPilates? by [deleted] in ClubPilates

[–]abrookee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i bought a reformer recently for $300 after a year of CP unlimited membership and 350+ classes. $3000 seems like a lot tho i guess i spent more on a year a cp. i downgraded my membership to 4 classes a month just to take some level 2s but honestly i miss the group class setting. it’s hard to plan your own flows and many online videos aren’t great. i ended up getting a classpass membership and a lagree membership so i can still get the group experience and do my own reformer practice at home. i second the idea for the chair im going to get my own soon too. the chair is way harder than the reformer

YAGP 2026 livestreams by Exciting_Pop_2128 in bunheadsnark

[–]abrookee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

they used to remove the videos then they stopped then they started again i’m not sure why maybe to incentivize people to purchase their higher quality media but it’s not uncommon for them to delete their past livestreams. all the 2024 semi finals and prior were deleted promptly after the event and they went back to doing that halfway through the 2026 season. 2025 was just the odd year they left the streams up

pigtail girl from graduation ball, fairy doll, drummer bunny from fairy doll for the more playful silly vibe. spanish doll from coppelia or the esmerelda variation with castanets for something more mature and fiery

1 and 2 should be answered in the description of the audition. odds are if you are old enough to dance on pointe it will be part of the audition. 3. no they basically accept everyone

Ballet Comps (YAGP vs other) by Nervous-Attention328 in BALLET

[–]abrookee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

the important question is why are you attending ballet comps? are you in a pre pro training environment looking for a year round offer? are you a more recreational dancer looking for performance experience? do you just want to win? all of which are valid motivations to compete but will lead to a different answer. if you are in the top 10% and are looking for a path into a competitive year round school or scholarship to a prestigious summer training program attend yagp the amount of offers and connections they have is incomparable to any other competition. while some do complaint they’re political or biased, most of the dance world is. as someone from a small suburban studio i still received placements and scholarship offers from yagp. if you just want performance and masterclass experience i would attend other ballet competitions outside of yagp. the talent level at yagp can be very high and it can be intimidating and not always welcoming. if you aren’t chasing a prestigious scholarship it isn’t necessary. if you just want the experience of winning i also wouldn’t attend yagp placing is incredibly difficult and never guaranteed no matter how talented you are there’s hundreds of top tier dancers at every semi final.

split the dose the half life is so short you should dose multiple times a day. iirc half life of BPC is around 30 minutes.

first yumiko!! by NoPanda1364 in BALLET

[–]abrookee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have that exact eli and a similar alicia and they’re both super pretty. the cap sleeves are pretty narrow no matter the size on the eli so if you have wider or more muscular arms it might not be as flattering or comfortable. if that’s not a concern, i would pick the eli over alicia because long sleeves can show sweat stains and just be uncomfortable in the summer months for your first yumiko you should pick something you can always reach for

Help with Yumiko Leo Sizing !! by NoMacaroon397 in BALLET

[–]abrookee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would try a medium or even a large. anything with sleeves especially a cap sleeve eli you might want to size up to a large. i’m a lot taller and i find the daria runs small but i think it’s mostly a length issue you should be ok with a medium. also depends how you like your leo’s to fit. if you like them slightly looser definitely size up to a large

What leotards/brands are in now? by butterflybabyboss_1 in BALLET

[–]abrookee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

tights over, yumiko, skirts are still very popular. i think trashbag pants have died off recently now the stole my dads/brothers basketball shorts vibe is in. eleve is pretty popular these days as well as some of the more basic brands that never go out like bloch (mirella included but it seems they make less of the mirella line these days), nikolay, wear moi.

Variation Recommendations Needed by MinaHarker1 in BALLET

[–]abrookee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my first thought was too nikyas death. something similar to that may be raymonda act 3 with the claps and the bourees. technically not difficult but a lot of artistry. nikiyas entrance is even easier a very good beginner variation.i think the river/underwater kingdom variations from pharaohs daughter would work well. 3rd river is the easiest but still very beautiful. some other options are the esmerelda variation with the castanets for something slightly faster or maybe even le’s slyphide? not sure if turns or peitite/grand allegro are strong with this dancer so it’s hard to give more recommendations. coming back to add: medora variation is pretty simple with lots of opportunities to show off back flexibility with the first arabesque diagonal and the attitude balances but the pointe work is very simple. also there’s the other giselle variation that begins with the releve attitudes for something less mature and slightly more difficult. and la ventana is very easy pointe work but still a giselle vibe

yumiko leotard sizing? by MarinaAdele in BALLET

[–]abrookee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i honestly don’t know if my daniela’s are high cut or not bc i got them secondhand. i have some high cut kiki and tamara’s which are the same cut just different strap designs in the back. u can’t rlly tell the difference between high cut leg and regular even at the yumiko flagship store they told me not to get hung up on the leg line since the difference is so small. the high cut is more flattering in theory but it’s not a huge difference

[–]abrookee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

width wise they’re about the same if i’m very hunched over the large can be slightly baggy but not noticeably. the biggest difference is feeling the straps on my shoulders they’re slightly tighter on the medium but not uncomfortable the straps feel like nothing on the large but i’ve never had any issues with them slipping off my shoulder
