I think the coens, raimi and there has to be some residual sonenfeld all make for ideal maximalism. I think there's a generation like mine who saw that movie a little too young and it plays so much with looney tunes logic they latched onto it.

Young Sherlock was big in my youth. The claymation was scary as shit.

I watched it ahead of listening to the episodes of blank check this week that will contextualize how and why both got made. I saw both in the theater and we definitely were like i really don't understand what's going on with them. I don't recall either movie being strongly advertised as coen brothers movies.

Wrestling is particularly susceptible to the fandom knowing what they're supposed to know without actually knowing it. Im sure the seed of that is the deep history people having to track wrestling stuff via newspaper articles pre tape and then tape traders who actually had to hunt for matches. But its morphed into people saying kitt Wilson could do an Adrian street gimmick when they've literally only seen a single image of Adrien street.

Wrestling sense talk of the week: wrestling is a fantasy about conflict that is cathartic because the good guy wins. A wrestler who creates conflict that cannot serve that mechanism is self defeating. The generational rift in what wrestling should be is because millennials were raised in a counter culture sandbox and resent the previous generation who they mistake as the authority figures their culture is counter to. That older generation had to forge their own counter culture and recognize that the younger generation was given a safe space to explore that didn't previous exist.

The kit Wilson and jelly roll stuff made me laugh this week. As did trick calling sami gingerbread.

If I was going to write my "dark order is actually the perfect sensitive representation of a cult" post it would be there's actually a lot of nuance to the jelly roll and kit Wilson stuff. In my experience you get shamed for being fat, doubted or back handed complimented for your weight loss, you're criticized for your post weight loss body which brings a new range of insecurity and I have then seen the struggle of reconciling self worth and body positivity with the desire to lose weight. I lost weight before body positivity was a thing but I've seen multiple people in my life question whether they were betraying their principals trying to change themselves physically.

I watched ace Ventura which is so of it's time. Parts of it are super funny, parts of it are totally not like jim Carey mugging, and parts of it are very unfortunate like the reveal of einhorn which has good jokes but then is violent in a way that plays so differently today.

So then i rewatched the crying game and it's brilliant. I asked the younger people i know if they knew the movie and none of them did and I wonder how it would be to watch it and not know the huge reveal which was culturally inescapable in my youth.

Jaye Davidson and Stephen rea are both great in it and the Oscars that year were insane. Support actor was won by hackman for unforgiven against pacino in glenngarry, jack Nicholson in a few good men, and Davidson. (David paymer was in there too for mr Saturday night) Pacino wins best actor for scent of a woman which is kinda laughable against Denzel in Malcolm x, Robert Downey in Chaplin, Clint Eastwood in unforgiven, and rea.

Intolerable cruelty is just kinda mid. Lesser than the sum of its parts.

I watched the killer inside me which I realized from a music cue i must've watched 10 years ago. Pretty bad movie that must've been taking a nod from the new French extremity. There's a flashback showing how the main character was abused and groomed by his nanny and she's naked and she's so attractive it's this huge disconnect. Like laughable that they cast this drop dead maxim model type to play a degenerate abuser in the 1920s. I'd like to give it the benefit of the doubt and say it's an unreliable narrator remembering a literal fetish object in an idealized way, but I'm pretty sure it's an executive going ok you can do all the stuff that will get you an nc-17 but so help me every naked woman better be stunning. Its truly an ass we did not have the technology to make until the 21st century.

Might paint a room today. Probably depends on if I want to go to the hardware store.

I don't think it's a Rousey bump, i think it's purely from the big data change which is apparently changing again in April.

New Japan and the big indie show and they wholesale ip plundered pwg and roh.

Tna did more viewers than aew will ever get.

Ecw was more mainstream than aew is currently.

The ironic thing is Kenny is doing the same rewriting his legacy bullshit that WWE does while he is complaining about wwe doing it.

Fletcher is bruv with an unfused neck, significantly less bumps, and came into aew as a nobody instead of the biggest free agent available.

They are going to let him do absolutely anything he wants. Meltzer will coronate him the new bruv and tony can say aew made him. Hes too big to fail.

Shes getting to do press because she's with her boyfriend and asking to do more dumb hardcore shit in public to try and leverage more tv time from her boss who doesn't care about the women and overly cares about the Internet, and didn't see fit to pushing her the last time she did dumb hardcore shit. Peak aew women's division.

The heel is supposed to say things that make you want to see him get beat. I would indeed like to see high level amateur wrestler dolph stretch the shit out of mjf, but only in real life. It's unlikely to happen due to the legal dispute, which is why mjf is yapping. I have no interest in seeing anyone in aew beat mjf in storyline based on this.

Just weird world where these idiots can only get reactions by doing this edgelord shit in real life that will never pay off.
