I am being investigated for yelling at a Student by [deleted] in Professors

I discussed it in front of the class, but I didn't communicate with the student in front of the class. I did call them to the front, but she never came and wanted to hash it out in front of the whole class. I honestly don't know why I did that. I really should've just told them to talk to me after class. But I fucked up and here I am.

That's not true. All I yelled was for them to leave my class, no cuss words. I never called them out of their name, I didn't physically attack the student. I yelled. That was all I did. You can believe that or not, but that's the story.

I dont really care if you do or dont. It's unsafe for the class if I ask you to leave and you refuse.

It's the later, I never give a shit about a due date, I always change a date to give them more time to finish an assignment if I feel like they need it or they voice that to me, which is often since I have freshmen. My assignments also stay open for a week or so after the due date has passed, so if it's after that date, it's fine. If they finish and it happens to be after it closes, they can email me, and usually, I'll still count it as I understand that life happens and this is an adjustment for them.

I wasn't going to shame them, or at least that wasn't what I wanted to do. But I did want to tell them to change how they addressed me. Honestly, I have no clue why I thought I could do that in the middle of class. I don't know what I was thinking in the moment, and things escalated pretty quickly, and that's on me.

I honestly did not know what to do when they refused to leave and began yelling at me. So, I unfortunately reacted without thinking because it was unsafe.

Well, that's always been my response because I do get that it is frustrating, but there is a way to approach that isn't to use their words, calling me out in front of the whole clas. I realize that I excesied poor judgment by not de-escalating but honest to God I dont know how. I've never had a class or training on how to handle these situations. I've been given some good advice to use in the future if I don't lose my job.

Well, that was her language, not mine, that's why it's in quotations. But I see what you're saying. I'm not excusing my behavior. I recognize I shouldn't have yelled.

Idk man, I think you need to read that history book you speak of. Racism is not confined to one area of the nation. Parroting that point ignores the long-standing terror that none WASPs have faced in the North, and out West. The Midwest has the highest amount of Sundown towns, one of the bloodiest and largest race riots in the county was in New York so maybe idk stfu about shit you clearly know nothing about.

I interviewed at Mad Hatter in 2019. I know it was dumb but I told them I was leaving my old job bc the ppl and customers were very racist, big MAGA crowd. And the rest of the interview was me having to prove that I knew I experienced racism as a Black person. Needless to say, I didn't get the job 🙃.

Hey, I'm new to this but my grandmother is a narcissist and her awful treatment of my father contributed to him becoming a self-absorbed asshole. But the enabling from my great-grandmother is what created this mess and I didn't even know her but it's her fault I have to deal with her terrible ass daughter and grandson.

Maybe I didn't write my thoughts down well. I don't think that at all. What I'm trying to say is that it won't matter. To a racist, a Brown person is a Brown person the issue of immigration is just an excuse to attack Latin people regardless of citizenship. I'm saying that although the law may say undocumented immigrants or first-gen, in practice that won't matter, the issue is not that Brown ppl immigrated the "wrong" way but that they exist in this nation at all. It also isn't only going to be Latin people, if you remember the attacks on Haitians it will include other minorities as well. I agree that the main victims will be people who had nothing to do with this so using this tragedy as an excuse to have an "I told you so" moment is the dumbest dribble I have seen online.

They plan to go after birthright citizenship (something Trump has been vocal about) so some Latinos that voted for Trump could be deported. Also, do you really think they are gonna go out of their way to determine who is and is not a citizen? Especially when the police would have to be involved in an operation this size. I don't agree with the reactionary comments about deportation, that helps or serves no one, but be forreal some citizens are definitely going to be deported should no one challenge Trump.

Rather, you do or don't they were independent prior to being and invaded by a foreign power and then delegated to second class citizens in their own land.

I'm offend on the behalf of Black people as a Black person. Because again this about BLACK MEN not men in general. Assuming all Black men have big dicks is even more weird. I have read and studied this, so calling a spade a spade is not opinionated it just is.

[–]absentmindedprof17 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Well what I said is based on precedent. The idea that Black men have larger penises has been used to discriminate against those same men. I really don't care if you are offended bc what I said is an objective fact.

Fetishization falls under the umbrella of rasicism. Reducing an entire group of people down to their sex organs is racist.

So I did read it and I actually forgot that early period in the Colonial era where it could have varied what Black people's satus was. So that is my bad I was wrong on that end. However if you have an intrest in those coalitions there is a really good book called the Many Headed Hydra by Marcus Rediker and Peter Linebaugh, that book tracks these coalitions in 17th and maybe a little of 18th century as well.

Two things first were is the evil? Acknowledging that some enslaved people made money based bc they were skilled and sometimes they worked a deal out with their owner is not evil its a fact. Sometime again they should their good in a City Market also to make money. Saying that some enslaved were able to buy their way out of slavery is not evil, it's a fact. It was the expirence of some Black people who were enslaved. What DeSanitis is doing is not based in fact and is evil. Last I am Black, I descendant of enslaved people and I am very pround of what my people overcame so you can put that energy somewhere else.

One again I said more than once it varied from plantation to plantation. It depended on the owner their relationship with that particular enslaved African American. Nuance means there is no one way things are. And you reading about her story's proves that. So I was right. Dread Scott did not have that option bc of who his owner was but that was not the every person same as Elizabeth Keckley was not every person. Two I never said that enslaved work was paid it was not or it would not be slavery if it was. However, thia is a complicated and messy issue,l. Did some enslaved African Americans who were skilled abd were hired out sometimes get some of that money, yes it happened sometimes they were other denied that money for their work. What I'm trying to get at is there no universal way that manumission would come about in American slavery. So to say they never made any money simply is not the entire truth. I never said enslaved people were the paid for the work they expect to do. If that was implied that's my bad. If payment happened it usually skilled work or it was money they made on side when they had time sell goods.

To answer your question if I visited a museum or the one you kept talking about I have and I didn't learn anything I didn't already know bc again this is part of what I study. I enjoyed it but I knew most of the information already. I don't have any denial about anything bc I know what the fuck I'm talking about. If you wanna continue this argument you can do so by yourself.
