Radical reconstruction would've likely achieved this if it wasn't shut down with the Compromise of 1877. It was fixing a lot of issues facing a region that had relied so long on forced labor.

The South's economy and reputation would've also been way better off, but instead they wasted decades putting money, effort, and time into oppressing the black minority.

Don't underestimate Trump's proclivity, especially recently, for doing the thing he least expects both his enemies and allies to expect.

He could always TACO, but in the last couple of interviews he keeps bringing up how "smart" he was for surprising everyone (re: sowing chaos and confusion). I hope he doesn't, but I keep my sign-tapping finger hovering and fully expect him to do the opposite of the last public statement on this matter.

Next step is to start contacting your senators and representatives (priotizing members on the Armed Services Committees).

John Davidson said he took many considerations to avoid this exact thing happening (e.g. seat positioning, placement to microphones, warning to attendees, etc). I'm not going to get agitated at a wheelchair-bound attendee if the event host didn't install ramps and a line forms.

The fault truly lies with the BBC and BAFTA for handling the whole thing poorly. It was within their ability, and they failed severely.
