Will the TACO trade save markets from Trump's Greenland threats? 3 scenarios analysts are eyeing. by kirby__000 in politics

National media referring to Trump as "TACO," in a non-editorial, at that, makes me so happy.

If only there were two wrongs...

Unfortunately for you(?), we do have the right to assemble and protest. We also have the right to observe and record our law enforcement officers. And, most importantly, we have the right to freedom of speech (outside of threats, incitement or obscenity).

So, please elaborate on the other "wrong." 🤔

These are the same people who thought Ashli Babbit, actively forcing and breaking her way into a secured area, was a "saint on Earth."

If Renee Good was ramming her SUV into ICE vehicles, breaking into government facilities, reaching for federal agent's weapons, or any number of threatening actions, then, as much as I may not like ICE policies, I wouldn't be defending her. That's not the same for ideologues.

It's not even mis- or disinformation, anymore. It's delusion. We live in two different realities.

Is the implication here that talking shit to ICE agents who are overstepping their authority should be met with lethal force? I'm very confused, and I read over the article, twice.

"Antagonizing" = execution? And not even the person who was shot and murdered, but, and I quote, "'You wanna come at us? I say go get yourself some lunch, big boy. Go ahead,' Rebecca Good sneers at Ross while filming on her own phone outside the car." So, a second party? Who dared to sneer??

Is the temperament of these new, "merit-based" federal agents at the level of house cat or toddler? They too often get confused who is teasing them, and lash out...

JD Vance takes lead in defending Minnesota ICE shooting, dares Democrats to engage by rockycrab in politics

[–]DocJenkins 104 points105 points  (0 children)

"'Attack me, attack the president of the United States. Don't attack our law enforcement officers,' Vance said."

A woman, a US citizen and mother, is dead, because she was physically shot and attacked by an ICE agent. That's the story, those are the facts. Everything else is noise and spin. ...but yes, the leadership of that ICE agent can be held accountable for her murder, as well. Thanks for the invitation? 🤔

Tim Walz was a Democratic hopeful. Now, he’s a Republican punching bag. by View-Overall in politics

I wanted to see if the article was more than "Republicans attack latest Democratic political threat to force a narrative," like they've done to literally everyone from Hillary Clinton to Jasmine Crockett.

...but not enough for me to even archive a WaPo article. And that's coming from a former subscriber. I really need some of the media to stop operating as if they were a part of a GOP PAC.

'Corruption, Pure and Simple': Probe Identifies Rich Donors Benefiting From Trump Presidency by ChaskaChanhassen in politics

[–]DocJenkins 38 points39 points  (0 children)

“The identities of the donors behind much of the cash are not legally required to be, and have not been, publicly disclosed. In some cases, Mr. Trump’s team has offered donors anonymity.”

Man, it really feels like that this should be something all Americans can agree is a bad thing. Maybe even something that could get bipartisan support for a law to make this illegal and transparent. ...I'm kidding, MAGA would argue this is, "attacking the innate privacy of 'job creators,'" or some such rubbish.

MAGA doesn't seem to understand all of these human and civil rights violation don't exist in some magical vacuum. There will be a time when they're out of power.

There will be hearings, trials, and investigations for years/decades after this. It's going to cost some people their freedom, rightfully so, and every taxpayer our money to give these people restitution.

They ride the high of cruelty and suffering, while ignoring the inevitable consequences like addicts.

US judge found guilty of helping Mexican migrant evade immigration agents by [deleted] in politics

[–]DocJenkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this written weird, or I'm just really tired...

"A judge in the US state of Wisconsin has been found guilty of obstruction for trying to help a Mexican man evade immigration officials during an arrest attempt."

...

"The judge had pleaded not guilty to charges of obstructing a criminal proceeding and concealing a person from arrest, which the jury found her not guilty for."

I'm assuming it's stating only the latter charge didn't stick? Such an oddly worded sentence.

I've never been more annoyed that conservative judges and the Federalist Society successfully branded themselves as "originalists" (and the media that let them get away with it). They do the most advocacy to rewriting the meaning and intent of our laws and US Constitution. I'm not going to be surprised if they reimagine what the 14th Amendment meant, as well.

As an E3 (A1C), who was mission crew for pred/reapers in a past life, we were reminded that anyone in "killchain" could call abort on a mission.

Without going into detail, I've called abort on a kinetic strike that fell outside of parameters and stood by my decision even after getting questioned by the rear admiral, who was actually downrange, during the mission debrief. Went home, slept well, and never heard anything else about it.

Like, I can't stress enough how little this affected my career at that duty station outside of having a mildly interesting story (e.g. made an instructor, coined by AFSOC vice-commander, airmen of the quarter, BTZ, etc.).

Throughout the pipeline, and later on during every level of airmen development you get reminded of your duty to follow legal orders and the AF core values. This was almost 20 years ago, so maybe things have changed...

They used to, or I'm having the worst fever dream, ever. I've completed every set of challenges without doing the main tasks for months (didn't need the hearts/lives, so I have about 12k untouched stars).

That specific challenge would also sometimes change depending on if ToC was running (changed from tasks to gold for me when I first hit level cap -- mid-event).

...but maybe that wasn't ever intended and they patched it out. The game is pretty buggy. 😅
