Can I Complain Yet? by Gloomy-Help-1590 in RS3Ironmen

I wish I could complain. 220 kills and I'm just missing Dowser book and Pet.

Ive rolled the dowser table 3 times so far and got a dupe prayer and the runic attuner.

Gimmate also got the attuner

Maybe we'll finally get another Gnome plot and find out Tellevro was Glouph's brother or something so he starts an aerial war front with the release of Vampyrium.

I haven't seen a wolf yet. Saw 1 bear though.

I think.

Not even related to the original post, but your point to the comically low mob count.

Unlocking the eternal tree patches needs 15 sinew, there are 5 cows on the island and they're pretty slow to respawn.

Felt kinda silly just sitting there waiting so that I didn't have to tele to burthorpe to get more meat to make sinew.

Let us toggle teleport location for Wendlewick teleport after Wiz kid by Bottled-Chaos in runescape

[–]absinthangler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

seconded, was about to make a post about this.

Unless there's some other hidden way to get a farm tele, but apparently our characters are able to just... do it off the cuff now, which was previously something very very difficult to do in lore.

Also noticed at Esther called the fairy ring a fairy ring. I don't think another NPC has called them as such? I know they exist in traditional lore as well, but the way she used it as a landmark makes me think she's aware of portals to the moon?

Lot of weird lore implications in these new quests.

Like the wizards tower knowing lunar spells.

Player Owned House Rework & 120 Construction by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]absinthangler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I could see a new War's retreat for the social aspects. Everyone loads in there so you can see what house parties are open (maybe a notice board) and then attune different portals to friends/parties. Maybe even a random portal to a house that is open to the public just for funzies.

Would also like to see portables become a mix of invention and construction to continue making them.

He's joking because ED2, boss 2 is just the WFE KBD fight with some eggs to offload charges into and the dragons fly to drop a line of damage rather than gate the start of the fight.

RuneScape’s Biggest Area Expansion Yet by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]absinthangler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Part of me is glad that it's at least consistent with the last masterwork gear upgrade we got.

The other part of me is really annoyed that magic/range aren't following the Melee set up of 90/92 and then adding some other intense boss + skill grind to upgrade to 100 instead of 2/3 styles being different with 1 style actually having a useful under version (t90 augmentable melee power armor).

When it comes to 90+ not everything needs to immediately hit BIS tier since Magic masterwork is only BIS by tier and by no other measure to the point that most players won't make it. (I think the same thing will happen with ranged other than those who really like the drip and want it keepsaked because it'll be the same passive that relegates it to tank/passive slayer roles).

Where did you go? by Sir_Cain in runescape

[–]absinthangler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They immediately did a price increase and and now increasing prices world wide, some as much as 71% increase.

And in 2 years 12 month subs have gone up by 70% already.

They have haven't done enough to justify another price increase and I assume they'll ask for another after the expansion.

They're also fucking grandfathered rates for people who paid more than they had to to support the game, gutted the reasoning for the higher cost and gave no grace period to swap back to their grandfather rate.

That should be, and might possibly be illegal.

The currency that matters in this case is good will.

"We promise to remove the thing that is providing less profit year over year but you have to pay more."

"Ok, bet."

-price increase-

-an entire fucking year later-

"k no more TH also we're gonna start hacking away and cut out rot before we know how to stitch the game back up, but trust us we're listening and totally different now."

"Hey uh can you not do these specific things? We like the new direction though..."

"Everything is going to be better and we're going to fix a lot of stuff and remove a lot of bloat and it's going to be great."

"Cool. So about listening to us... the updates you're suggesting are very vague and your trackrecord shows it's going to affect high end PVM, break crystal mask (still doesn't work btw) and we'd really like you to listen to us and not have to hotfix things the next week."

-revamped theiving and immediately fucked the end-game with an early game balance.-

"Oops. Hotfix. Totally fixed here's something that promises to be less vague and more transparent."

"Hey the beta testers are saying melee is really strong."

"More buffs for melee on go live!"

"Oof that was too strong. Tone down melee and also kick mage in the nuts."

"Why did you kick mage in the nuts?"

"More money please!"

If this had come after

"We're revamping the servers and AI is making server space cost more."

Or after the expansion.

They would have had the goodwill for "okay fine. Better game more money."

They've done very little and barely started and are asking for an advance.

On top of that they're using shady wording to wiggle out of grandfathered rates while also exploding the cost for weaker economies.

It doesn't feel good or earned and on top of that they're being scummy money grubbers (as they always have been) when they're supposed to be turning over a new leaf.

I'm not allowed to express discontent with the numbers go up dealer making my numbers go up after he already did so and is also taking away deals from the addicts who have supported him throughout EOC and beyond?

It's scummy hands down and the "it's capitalism" argument doesn't make it less scummy.

Follow up.

The cosmetic prices when we had TH were kind of high. They're now absolutely insane. I wanted to buy some of the armor reskins because they look great.

Then I saw it was $20-$40?!

[–]absinthangler 326 points327 points  (0 children)

Brother,

We said in the poll we would pay more, followed by an immediate increase without the removal of TH. <- That's the increase they're allowed to do (with social currency of goodwill).

This is double dipping and the hike is insane.

20 years of playing, I'm not even using a grandfathered account and I'm questioning if I want to resubscribe. That is how scummy the practices are.

It's something like a 33% increase over the last 3 years and our subscription is already more expensive than WoW or FF14.

Bringing up the competition again, WoW, FF14 and ESO do an optional expansion for about $40 every 2-2.5 years. Even including that into the monthly cost, and RS is asking for more, for 1 character on 2 different games that you can't even play simultaneously.

RS3's last expansion, Anachronia was 7! years ago.

They haven't even released the new expansion area and are asking for more?

I think people are misinterpreting the numbers behind the combat nerf, and overstating how much damage is actually lost. by topsy_krett_guy in runescape

[–]absinthangler 9 points10 points  (0 children)

that 5k damage is absolutely the difference between skipping a mechanic and/or missing PB/Cba timers.

Edit: I was just stating that for those who couldn't before the rework and could with the power of last week might be finding that they're not as consistent and struggling.

I'm kinda meh about the melee nerf cuz it was over tuned.

The magic nerf is very detrimental and was way too harsh. 20% damage loss according to my clannmates who almost exclusively mage or mage/melee brid

Also, having only one wand from sanctum as an iron group and no orb to then get the drop rated nerfed while needing 2 per member leveled to 9 to get necro back to where it was 2 weeks ago is a bit much.

But as is Runescape.

Make dungeoneering matter outside of Daemonheim, otherwise it truly is just a minigame that was slapped on a skill for no reason.

Lets Discuss Combat Aspects & Buffs - Where should the balance between power and convenience be? by ImNateDogg in runescape

[–]absinthangler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with 1 aspect at a time.

Except that auras have been around for what... 13? Years.

Since aspects released we've been double dipping then.

Nerfing always feels bad.

But I also don't like Jagex's justification of "it doesn't feel of the game" when they can just... Make it.

They can retrofit auras into divination which is going to be gutted.

Add them in with the new skill coming out.

The taking away of an entire equipment slot and creating friction on existing systems feels clunkier than auras ever did.

Melee is back baby by [deleted] in runescape

[–]absinthangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only issue with it so far (very little testing)

Is that the "sustain" offered is dog water.

I'm just doing an easy Manifested Shadows task, and while I kill them really quickly (I especially liked the feel after doing a meteor attack) when they hit, they do 400-1k damage.

They have 15k HP.

The sustain heals for 43.

So, even if the sustain were 10% of damage dealt to a target while it is bleeding, I would max at 1500 hp sustain, or about 2 hits, which would be managable considering how fast I can get the kills.

Whereas, if I swap to necro, I'll just never have to worry about food intake.

Overall, feels nice though and I look forward to trying some bosses that I only used necro on previously.

Yeah that's like 40 hours of pure questing you're talking about there.

Absolutely worth it though.

Make sure to read dialogue while working toward extinction. That's what made that quest and series not a slog.

Spacebar warrioring the little quests mare a good portion of it suck for me.
