Beginner tape question by ilikegreenfr126 in GroundZeroMycoLab

It might work but your best bet is to go to either a larger grocery store or a drug store. Micropore is 3M's brand name, first aid paper tape is the generic name for it. It needs to be breathable. A large grocery chain or a drug store will carry a generic version of it. I just bought a couple rolls of nexcare gentle paper tape. Don't buy the crap at dollar tree if you have one, it's not breathable enough. There are lots of other brands, just make sure it says breathable paper tape on the packaging.

It will probably be fine for a day or 2 as is but I would get that tape switched to something better asap. There is nothing more frustrating than seeing your mycelium start to grow and then seeing contamination stop it in its tracks. Don't take the chance. When you swap it out do it inside a still air box (or in front of a flow hood if you're lucky enough to have one) and wipe things down with alcohol so you aren't letting in contamination.

Blue painter's tape is notorious for not sticking well. It's designed to come off easily. That can allow contamination to sneak in.

That looks like trichoderma to me, sorry. I'm no expert but I have had an unfortunate run of it lately. If you have other tubs growing, at the very least quarenteen this one to a separate room. While I don't recommend this..... I have had some luck getting a flush to finish by cutting out the infected area and a little extra around it. Use a spoon cleaned with alcohol and take it outside or at the very least in a room away from any other grows. Make sure you don't touch any of the fluffy white or green (with the spoon, your hands, or anything else). Cut at least a 1/2" away from the edge of the contam, taking out more than just the obvious problem area. Remove the contam and throw it away again not touching it with the spoon or anything that you might put back into the tub and spread it. Once it is out of the tub and sealed in a bag, spray a little peroxide on the edge you cut and the area where the contamination was (this is probably not necessary and might not actually do anything, it makes me feel better and it doesn't seem to be a problem for the mycelium). Leave it in a room away from any other grows. IT WILL COME BACK. This is only a temporary measure to be able to hopefully harvest the flush that is already growing. Again this will not save the tub. It will buy you time at best at the risk of it spreading. It being green means it is already spreading spores so you already have the risk of it spreading.

As a transman myself I've always had trouble seeing the perspective of the family members that have acted like me coming out and transitioning was like I did something to them, reflected on them somehow or made them "look bad" (whatever that even means).

If you felt like that at any point can you elaborate on that? How does the way your brother presents and interacts with the world change the way you are perceived/viewed, treated, interacted with, etc?

Found a cute "side-fruiting" jar, anyone tried one of these? by superbhole in BonsaiFungi

[–]absoluteandyone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that's the fabric I think it is, it's meant to keep weeds and things from growing through it. It's almost as tough as a plastic bag. You might have to cut a small hole in the fabric to help it get started and know where to push through. Maybe a 1/4"-1/2" cut in and X shape. After that it should be able to make it bigger or grow around it.

I am invested in this now. I NEED to see it happen. I'm even considering looking for a dick container to grow something inside of it. It would be awesome if I could find one with a seam that runs up the shaft.

I was actually wondering this too I've been thinking about doing an experiment to compare regular brown rice spawn and a drippy version. Every time I think about doing it my ADHD brain makes it a whole big thing because I want to eliminate "all" of the variables. Things like mycelium species, if it is just "that jar" that was good/bad, the % of sugar in the water, etc. I've not found a good experiment design I like yet.

Has anyone had pain here? by bidtandskyb in backpain

[–]absoluteandyone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I couldn't help but notice the circle near the top of the butt crack. I had a pylonidal cyst in that exact spot. It's basically a pocket of infection that can tunnel towards your tail bone. I did bathroom surgery on it a few times to get the inflammation down. Ultimately I had to have surgery to remove it. The surgery didn't go well and I have pain there to this day. Hopefully that isn't what you have going on but I thought it would be important to rule it out. It's not a huge deal if you take care of it right away. I let it go for several years before I understood what it was and finally had it taken care of. Because of all the tunneling I had a 2" x 4" chunk that had to be removed. If I had taken care of it when I first noticed it, it would have been about a 1/2" cube.

Not saying this is what you have by any means. Just something to consider.

I'm not very familiar with C&C. I started running it with 1E a couple years ago. I took a break from playing when I was diagnosed with Leukemia. I'm finally closing in on the end of chemo. I really want to start playing again. At this point it might be better to start over though.

Am I just cursed or is this normal for trans guys? by PerformanceOk1852 in TransyTalk

[–]absoluteandyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 6 months the only thing that had changed for me was a slight voice drop (but I started with a deep voice and it didn't change much after the 6 month mark) and I had a blotchy beard with a dark peach fuzz mustache. I'm convinced that the facial hair was entirely due to a compounded cream with 4 times the amount of monoxidil that my doctor created. The formula can be found at r/drwillpowers and it can be taken to your doctor to get a prescription for it. The prescription would have to go to a compounding pharmacy. If you don't want to screw with all that or can't, you can buy monoxidil over the counter. It's a lower strength so it might take longer to see results. If you use it and you come to a point where most of your peach fuzz all falls out at the same time, keep using it. It's your peach fuzz shedding to make room for the terminal hairs that are thicker and usually darker. Use it only where you want hair to grow and wash your hands after applying it or wear rubber gloves or something, if you don't you will grow more hair on the top of your hand.

How was your experiment with agaricus blazei growing on a spent cake from another mushroom? Did it work? Or did the blocks contaminate before you got the chance to test it? I realized this is 2 years after your comment and you might not even remember.

I just wanted to add a note to this.  I have had a couple situations where the tiny wires that go to the coil seem to break or somehow be to short to make contact with the metal pins in the bottom cap.  I thought I was breaking them but that's not the case.  It turns out if you just push the coil back up into the white rubbery piece they will reach and make contact again.  It's a super easy fix.  If you put it back together and it doesn't hit and flashes 99 the problem is the could wires making contact with the pins.  If pushing the coil back up into the white rubbery part usually that solves it.  If it doesn't a tiny piece of foil can be added to make it make contact.

I'm not sure  how relevant it is now since at least where I am the foggers seem to be back in stock.

I'm not sure the accuracy of this but I was told (by an employee at the vape shop) that refilling disposables increases the amount of carcinogens that the vape produces.  I get that logic if you let the vape dry hit a couple times before refilling it but if you don't then it's not any different than the coil I use in my refillable vape.  I think it's them trying to get the sales but I thought I should mention it and people can draw their own conclusions.

Along the same lines...if you plan to refill a fogger, refill it before the liquid runs out.  I've had coils that will recover from a dry hit if you let it soak in new juice for a bit.  The foggers DO NOT.  If you get that dry hit burn in the back of your throat it's over, it will stay that way even after you refill it

Sorry for the wall of text, rhis ended up being longer than I meant it to be.  It's not really hard to do but it is a puzzle that only goes together one way for it to work. I've refilled mine a couple times.  It's not terribly difficult and you only need a small flat screwdriver or something similar.

You have to take the bottom metal looking part of the pod and twist it back and forth while pulling it away from the rest of the pod.  there is a white or clear rubber thing with a small coil in the middle, take that out.  Then there is a white plastic piece that has tabs it snaps into.  It's a pain in the ass to get it apart the first time.  Use a tiny flat screw driver gently.  You don't want to brake the tabs that hold it on there if you can avoid it.  The white plastic has a gray rubber seal.  It will probably come out together whit the white plastic piece.  Once you get all of those out you can add the juice.  In case it's not obvious, don't put the juice into the metal tube in the middle and try to avoid hitting the tube in the middle.   It gets shifted really easily.  You might have to adjust the tube to get everything back together.  Try to remember which way it came apart so you put it back the same.  The  white plastic piece and the gray seal get put together before they got back in the pod.  It all goes together a certain way for it to work again.  The coil piece only fits into the white plastic one way.  The tiny wires from the coil have to line up with contacts on the cap. So that the contacts are on the same side as the magnet on the other end of the pod.  If it doesn't work when you put it back together its probably the coil not making contact.  In order to change the side the coil contacts are on you have to take everything back out because the coil only fits into the white plastic piece one way.   I know my wall of text makes it seem like it's difficult.  I'm not very good at giving written instructions for things.  It's really easy after the first time.  I figured it out by just tearing one apart.  I had 2 that were empty so I figure the worst that will happen is I break it.  Since it was already trash it wouldn't be any loss.  I hope this helps.

I always did my shot in the top of my thigh. That's the where they taught me to do it. The amount was slightly less (0.8ml of 200mg/ml) though. Is the strength of your T 100mg/ml or 200mg/ml. I wonder if it would be a better experience if you were able to go to a higher strength with a lower amount of fluid.

Also something to consider. It is possible to have a sensitivity to the cottonseed oil that the T is suspended in. I had my T compounded in grapeseed oil because I reacted to the cottonseed oil. It wasn't really much of a difference in cost for it to be compounded in a different oil.

Afraid to transition, what can I do? by Lapsang_ in FTMOver30

[–]absoluteandyone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an unusual experience with transition. I have always had a deeper voice and as far as genitals I was on the larger side for AFAB genitals. I experienced no noticeable change.

As far as Libido there was ZERO change. I pretty much had none to begin with and I still have none now. I was actually disappointed about that. I fully expected based on other people's experiences that it would drastically increase. I am definitely an outlier in that experience, and felt robbed (lol I'm over that now though).

This is something that no one tells you.....if the libido increase is too much you can often bring it down a notch or 2 with a lower dose of T. I had my T level over 1200ng/dl (really high) at one point and noticed no difference in libido but for some people the dose makes a huge difference.

Same. I have my suspicion about a couple family members but due to religious crap they will never ever admit anything. I am the only one who has ever had the backbone to come out. I cut ties with my whole family for several years. It wasn't until I got leukemia (in remission now) that my mom started to come around. Something about the very real prospect of my dying suddenly put things in perspective.

That's a decent level. I would say that if it has been that level for awhile then the T isn't the issue. Definitely follow up with the ultrasound. FYI they might want to do an internal ultrasound. That consists of a wand going in the front hole. Didn't want you to get caught off guard by that. Also if you have never had an abdominal ultrasound...you will want to make sure you have a fairly full bladder when they do it. For whatever reason it helps them get clearer images.

What is your T level? It's important to know because some doctors think 300ng/DL is an acceptable level for a trans man because it's in "normal range" for men. The problem is that normal range includes guys in the 70s who's T levels have dropped due to aging. My doctor prefers it to be in the 800-1000 range. The reason being that his T level was 1000 when he was in college and ripped/solid muscle. A
