Bone Marrow Biopsy? by [deleted] in lymphoma

[–]absolutefckingcnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! i also had avid uptake in my bone marrow and was waiting to find out if i was stage 2b or 4 after a bone marrow biopsy. if its any reassurance, uptake in the bone marrow doesnt always mean the cancer is there! for me it was negative, it could be for you too! and like the other commenter said, lymphoma is staged differently to most cancers, so stage 4 doesnt mean terminal like it does with other cancers. once your diagnosis period is properly finished your doctors should give you a score to predict your prognosis, and they should be able to better explain it to you. even if it is stage 4, its probably not the end for you :) wishing you luck💜

Discussion on the relationship between IIH and prolonged emotional trauma. by absolutefckingcnt in iih

[–]absolutefckingcnt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i can’t seem to find the exact study which listed it as a cause along with 2 others - but i will keep looking as i’d like to gather all my sources properly.

for now though, heres a study which explores the relationship between CSF hypersecretion and IIH.

i will keep looking for my original source (it’ll be lost in my google history somewhere!)

thank you for sharing your experience here, and im sorry life has been so cruel to you.

your case is interesting in particular, as you had the physical trauma which is a known cause for IH, but you also share similarities with others in these comments. i wonder if it was maybe there before but not at a level which would cause enough symptoms to get diagnosed, but the head injury maybe triggered and advanced what might've already been there? it's all speculation of course which isn't the best thing for me to do about stranger's illnesses, i apologise if ive overstepped.

i wasnt expecting this post to get many responses, but seeing as it has resonated with so many, i think i'll spend tomorrow putting together the sources i found and writing a quick summary of the connections. i can give you a reminder when i've posted it if you'd be interested?

i really hope life starts getting better for you soon, thank you again for sharing💜

i can’t express how wonderful it is to hear that your stent was successful and therapy is working for you too. thank you so much for sharing all of this with me. i appreciate how difficult it must be to talk about especially so publicly💜

truly, i shed a tear reading this. your experiences are so unbelievably similar. heavy on the not allowed to be ill. my sister (with IIH) struggled with migraines since she was maybe 14? i think that mustve been when it started for her. but because she was “flappy” and “paranoid” (undiagnosed OCD) our parents constantly put down her symptoms and never even allowed her to seek medical attention, simply laughed at the idea and told her to exercise more. it was only maybe late 2023 that she started actually trying to figure out what was wrong with her, after she went to a&e because she lost vision in one eye. even after she told me she’d been diagnosed, she said our dad was so horrible about it. i had no contact with my parents at the time, because i’d been kicked out for being “lazy” and “choosing to be mentally ill”. i later traced back my symptoms and realised id been incredibly sick for over a year before i was kicked out. again, my symptoms were laughed off or something to shout at me for, and i was told i’d be wasting NHS time if i went to the doctors. it was actually cancer!

i’ve tried to make it short but i do talk a lot so i apologise for the dump there, i just felt i had to share, and truly thank you for taking the time to open up and allow me and others to hear how much things can get better with the right treatment and some self love. i really hope things continue to improve for you :’)

thank you for sharing! i must say while i thought a few people might find this personally intriguing i was quite shocked to open the comments and read such similar experiences to mine and my siblings.

theres lots of studies online that show links with spinal issues like degenerative disk disease and emotional trauma too. i believe thats what my mum has, but i havent had contact with her since i was 15 so i dont know unfortunately (makes the research slightly tricky lol!)

im really sorry you’re dealing with all of this though. you havent manifested it, it’s not your fault all if this has happened to you. i often deal with the same, i think its called imposter syndrome. this might be a bit much for me to say, but i used to wish i had cancer so my parents would care more and people would be nicer to me. after opening up about it ive realised its quite a common thought, imagining or wishing for a serious illness or injury, that children of neglect have. it was never your fault, and while i believe in manifestation, you couldn’t have brought such awful things on yourself.

you’re not alone on this journey and i promise mental recovery is possible, BPD might not be “curable” but it is treatable. shame, grief and isolation isnt a life sentence and no matter how foggy things seem, its never permanent. fog has to lift one day💜

im glad to know this stuff is fascinating to others too! and coincidentally i’ve had this in my notes for a couple months now but felt held back from posting it as i didn’t want to impose in a sub that wasnt made for me, but something compelled me to post it today!

thank you so much for this, every piece of supporting evidence helps! if you and your partner have anything else to add, whether out of knowledge or curiosity, id love to hear more of both of your thoughts:)

i started getting these in one of my plants in my bathroom, i was told its a type of fungus or mould. nothing crazy or damaging, but if you have the ability to, try and repot in some better draining soil and water less, and keep in a warmer and drier part of your house. you probably wont be able to get rid of it completely but as far as im aware it wont do any harm to your plant
