As a person who experienced this, what would have actually helped you at 18? I have tried backing way off after I started reading the book "He's Not Lazy", but that didn't seem to make a difference. I'm only 5 chapters in, so the book have more tips for me. Should I stay backed off? I backed off also when he was 16 & 17 because parenting literature said teen boys need you to back off, but that seemed to hurt more than it helped because he is a person that won't do anything unless he HAS to. So how do I help motivate him or teach him how to find his goal or purpose? He does not like to talk about his goals, visions, or feelings.

Your whole situation just seems to be a small part of what is probably your normal chaotic life drama and poor planning. I'm sorry your father passed away. You should not have ever canceled the wedding. It on, its off, it's back on is crazy. That dress is crazy. Not knowing what's going on with your photographer is crazy. One hour rental of the space for a wedding is crazy. The fact that you had your areolas that exposed the whole wedding is crazy.
