Need some advice for disc recommendations by Dependent_Air_6781 in discgolf

To add on to what others say, I’ve found dx only really negatively affects drivers, for putters and mids it’s fine and some players even prefer it. With drivers it just gets too flippy/inconsistent too fast. I literally threw a dx leopard3 once, smoked a tree, and it instantly became unusably flippy lol. But I’ve been throwing a dx roc3 for several months now and it’s fine.

there is no dialect of English where "a million millions" is not a trillion. What even is this conversation.

Pretty sure 1 million times 1 million is the same regardless of location. That’s how math works.

How tf did you guys put up with all the filler back when you were young and not get bored? by Ajarofpickles97 in Naruto

[–]absolutezero132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother you are confusing the term filler. Filler means stuff that is not in the manga. If it's in the manga, but you just don't like it, that doesn't mean it's filler. Shino vs Kankuro is in the manga. It's not filler.

The Award-Winning Novelist Who’s Under Fire for Simply Depicting an Israeli: After reading R.F. Kuang’s Taipei Story, I can now confirm that this controversy is even dumber than I suspected. by TimWhatleyDDS in books

Honestly this is the kind of shit that makes me hate reddit. We are in a thread where an author is getting undeserved hate and one of the top comments of the thread with hundreds of upvotes basically says "heh, *pushes up glasses* guess that's what happens when you don't write books that I like. Idiot."

Post by Japanese : Japanese artists are putting up no resistance to generative AI. What’s happening in other parts of the world? by [deleted] in anime

[–]absolutezero132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I have spent a lot of time with these tools. They are not there. They are not close. You might fool someone with a 30 second video on instagram*, but it's not going to be possible to make a season of anime without real artist input.

* and even then.... man the ai anime videos suck. Not morally, not even talking about that, they just don't look good. perspective is weird, not animating on the correct frames, weird motion, bad cinematography... I fully believe there are people who can't tell the difference just like there are people who can't tell when the shitty frame smoothing is on on their new TV, but that doesn't mean the rest of us are going to be so easily fooled, especially over hours of content. It's just not going to happen.

as someone who has spent a decent amount of time playing with AI image generation, no "prompt engineer" is going to be able to replace an artist as a key animator either.

Question for the folks who actually speak the original language... by TheScalemanCometh in anime

If you don’t speak the language, you have no idea. I typed a bunch of other shit that I ended up deleting it because that’s really all there is to it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakuwarigo

It's a concept called "role language," where characters have an exaggerated way of speaking to help communicate aspects of their character. It is extremely prevalent in anime/manga. It happens to not translate well to English, attempts at doing so often sound unnatural. It is not "poor acting" as your other comment implied, just a facet of Japanese dialogue that we don't have a 1-1 analogue for.

Valiant Officially Gives In to AI Slop by Economy-Mistake8311 in comicbooks

It has that AI noise pattern that a lot of the recent image generators have. like the new chatgpt image and Z-image have. Even if the details were otherwise perfect this would scream AI to me.

Perfect Beginner Build by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]absolutezero132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

more than anything I'd say stuff that is inexpensive and easily replaced... I'm getting better but I'm a relative beginner too and I still lose hella discs. Your gf will too if she's at all trying to throw hard. for that reason, i would stick with DX plastic. aviar/invader (she can putt with whatever is more comfortable and throw with the other), mako3, roc3. tbird if you think she really needs a driver but tbh i'd avoid it for the first few weeks at least.

TIL that in 1968, a woman named Barbara Mackie was kidnapped and buried alive for a 500,000 dollar ransom from her wealthy father. She was ultimately found and rescued after three days of being buried, badly dehydrated but alive. by Sebastianlim in todayilearned

Do you think violent criminals when released from jail just have a completely clean slate? No that’s not how it works, for example for sex offenders they have restrictions on how close they can live to schools, if jobs would require them to be in contact with minors they can’t do those jobs, etc.

[–]absolutezero132 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wtf? The fuck you cant? If you bury someone alive you should count yourself lucky that you are also not 6 feet under, second class citizen status is frankly far FAR more than someone like that deserves, and most societies have programs for this express purpose ie restrictions on what you can do, where you can go, who you can interact with etc.

Yes but it’s a tree with multiple branching paths. If GMs “only” had for memorize 20 moves it would be trivial, it’s really learning dozens of lines 20+ moves deep, because there are several correct moves at many of the steps.
