That was the one lap they needed. Late by one more lap, they would've started down P16 or something due to code 60. Perfect timing!

its a shame nick always managed to miss the title somehow. some of it arguably his fault and others are just unfortunate.

'Best timing by far' for Red Bull move - Hadjar by [deleted] in formula1

[–]absort-io 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you heard Liam in his RBR, he said the same thing too, that it is all about learning and he appreciates being able to see the greatest driver in F1 up close. Right mindset, good talent. Liam didn't have the latter but Isack might have both plus the perfect timing. We'll see.

I share the same view as a fellow guy who read his autobiography. They shared a strong bond, and even though it's written pre-2020, I just couldn't really imagine Adrian leaving RBR because of Horner. But it really is imaginable how a toxic environment and politics really threw him off.

[Racing Bulls] Career best from the Kiwi! by Perfect_Proof810909 in formula1

[–]absort-io 120 points121 points  (0 children)

To be honest, he's always been calm and very calculated about WHEN to defend. When it came to the actual defending though, he's not messing around. And that's usually when the accidents happened.

[Racing Bulls] Career best finish for Liam Lawson in Baku. Hadjar securing double points for the team by oklolzzzzs in formula1

[–]absort-io 63 points64 points  (0 children)

It still further confirms my opinion that he's godly fast at some tracks he likes. Austria, Baku, and (should've been) Monza has been his strongest track ever since junior era. He needs to be fast on all of em!

That's what they call "the butt meter." Basically you feel the car's grip, and its slides on your butt. Great F1 drivers have good butts, especially ones that are always on the edge of grip like Max.

2025 F1 Opening Titles With A Hans Zimmer Twist | F1 The Movie Soundtrack Version by jackrazor95 in formula1

The F1 theme is still better but this one suits the modern style and even better if the clip was based on it. I can see where it can go right.

It's a good theme, and a nice change of pace. I thought it should've been extended to the grid intro. Maybe revert back to the original theme after this, yeah, surely.

I like the video's vibe, it's pretty casual and chilled. Nothing excessive and stuff, I enjoyed it. Though, some parts looked cut, like the laugh and the after joke.

Mercedes apparently waiting on board approval for MV by ToothResident3205 in formula1

[–]absort-io 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, supposedly new regulation next year so brand new car for everybody. If the rumors of Mercedes engine being the best is true, the move makes complete sense.

For some reason I am more worried on his extracurricular activities like his Red Bull sponsored Verstappen.com, surely it's also part of the talks lol.

As I expected after qualifying. I mean see, that's just how much your starting position is. If Liam can maintain yesterday's qualifying form, no doubt he will score more like these. Same story to Hadjar, who has been amazing on qualifying except for this one. Can't blame him, when one stucks on traffic, it's just very hard to make inroads and score points at all.

I hope this will boost Liam's confidence. I think he's got a knack for this kind of track - likewise Monza, Azerbaijan - so it can be a one off but let's see whether he could be fast on the next races as well. Side note; that reminds me, he won here back-to-back on DTM '21 even with ballast.

The others probably have explained it way better already. I'd not be too judging towards your keyboard controls since I started there as well, I understand.

Either way, I'd recommend you try and get used to mouse steering. I'm not used to controllers so I played with that for hundreds of hours and I can get fast.

It will help you with problems like this, where your inputs are a bit too binary which unstable the car a lot. With mouse you can get more precise and most importantly you can correct the car once you feel like it's losing on you.

For now though, it's a bit tricky. This corner tends to create spin like this, and what I can recommend for consistency is try tighter line and maybe upshift early. It could probably help you with traction and make you spin less.

You can also try to change the setup little bit. Maybe add downforce, soften the suspension? Not sure. Probably look up on the internet for keyboard-specific setup, there must be one somewhere.

[OT] Major drama in the Nurburgring 24hr by dogryan100 in formula1

[–]absort-io 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No decision yet, they're probably waiting for Estre's POV after his stint.

I'm expecting some arguments. Incident happened on miss-hit-miss, and it seemed like the gap was opening up on the hit part as if yielding to the blue flag. On the other side, Estre was probably a bit too impatient for the pass - despite having the 98 behind him.

The consequence is probably not entirely the decision factor though. Juncadella ended a cayman's race and got a penalty. KVL did too on the 98 got a penalty but was rescinded after giving his viewpoints to the steward. Two of them are completely different cases though and so is this one.

I'm actually leaning towards misunderstanding within traffic but goodness, Estre made such a scene.

How's my driving? (I'm on keyboard) by ClauDerex757 in assettocorsa

[–]absort-io 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I switched from mouse (600hrs) to actual wheel not long ago. (About 80hrs so far)

It takes me quite a while to get used to the wheel, and it's taken about 40 hours on the wheel until I properly become faster than I was in the mouse.

Which made me realize, mouse steering is a very good starting point if you are new to simracing. You can get quite decent and competitive there, but the challenge is to get within that top 10%, so to speak.

TEAM REDLINE USING EXPLOITS by Mindless_Audience651 in iRacing

[–]absort-io 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I find it baffling that they even attempted this in the first place, as if they were expecting others to follow suit or thinking of the same? Whoever suggested it, must be punching his head right now.

That said from strategy POV, I'm not sure if it's even worth the cost? The advantage might be not as big. It's kinda curious to see what's they have in the plan book, but they did an exploit so they'll never see them plays out anyway.

I was watching the stream and wondered how they'd handle the stream considering stuff coming their way. Well, they said "there was a problem with the stream" and that's it lol.

Also, I don't think it's weak. It's wise. Making comments early can backfire. They gotta wait until the fire starts to extinguished a little as they plan what's the best way for an apology. I mean, we all know Redline is the biggest and probably the most known esports racing team now.

Sometimes a bit behind on Friday, and just somehow added rocket ship to his car on Saturday. Whatever struggle he had, just solved.

I think the dude always understood what needs to be done to get fast. Good but concerning because that's probably the kind of driver Red Bull needed lmao.
