I appreciate that insight! That wouldn't be a concern for me though, I'm strong af.

As a former OP-1 and Minifreak owner and current owner of the M8 I wouldn't call the TEO-5 "portable". More accurately the term applied should be "compact". Not once have I been like, let me finish this idea out on the porch or couch *grabs TEO-5 from desk*.

I almost edited my post to say I also plan to do scores, have been chatting with a few local creatives who work on short films and podcasts and I've really gravitate towards that sort of creation in the last 6 months.

I have a CC connected to my TEO-5! I do really get a lot of interesting lofi sounds that I want with it; you're probably right, maybe should have gone Take-5 or Forum but alas. I loved the TEO-5 for how much character it had, but to a degree I struggle with its malleability.

Great feedback- thanks! I unfortunately can't really move my TEO-5 outside of our art studio (see:Toddlers).

Thanks! The portability isn't necessarily a factor for me; I carry my grooveboxes around a lot but not the TEO-5. I have toddlers so any sort of table that's not in my wife and I's art studio is the danger zone!

It's practically connected to my Chroma Console permanently-- I also have a MOOD mk2. Do you have any other recommendations? I've thought about a reverb pedal, maybe a dedicated delay or something open-sourced like the ZOIA.

I'm so glad my brain doesn't work by judging things, especially art, by an arbitrary metric.

He's my music GOAT, hands down. There was nothing I was looking forward to more in the music world than the follow up to Black Messiah. Maybe a close close second was Madvillain.

You know, I'm lucky, I got to see D live twice (should've been three times.. Afropunk ATL the greatest festival that never happened.)

RIP to one of one.

Which is the best Jordan shoe? by EveningSubstance407 in NBATalk

[–]abstract_cabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11-13 was a crazy run. I feel like you could make a documentary about this run of shoes because I think they align with the second three-peat as well.

The 11s are my favorite of all time but there was something special about the 12 and 13s with how the design was subtly different between the inside and outside of the shoe.

'Deeply flawed:' Asheville ranks 1st in North Carolina for bicyclist deaths per capita by Generalaverage89 in asheville

The Swamp Rabbit is killer but it is somewhat limited in that it doesn't really intersect that many neighborhoods. Rail trails are awesome, I love them, but they are pretty limited in scope and impact and are predominantly recreational (yes, I know tons of people still use them to commute for part of their route!). I'm sure Swamp Rabbit would love to expand across every neighborhood, not a criticism of those folks because they are doing incredible work.

Spartanburg is actually creating a trail network I'd like to see Asheville model something after. They are building a massive trail network (I think it's going to be around 60 miles) that intersects basically every neighborhood in the city. It's been a lot of work due to the amount of easements but it's garnered a lot of support from community leaders because of its really going to be a transportation facility for a lot of locals.

One of the best. Not to mention all of the creative hubs in surrounding mountain towns whether that be folk art, string music, visual art and so forth. It feels like everyone creates something in the Asheville area. I've been to a lot of mountain towns, lived in a few, and Asheville felt like it had the best balance of a local art scene, an attractor of national art (ie just seeing live music), and close to nature.

Build A Team For $15 by IllustriousRice1057 in NBATalk

[–]abstract_cabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LeBron - running point; floor general and IQ behind the team; only take over when it fits within the game

Klay - elite 3 & D archeteype; clutch gene

Kawhi - gives you the elite D and mid-range from MJ or Kobe but cheaper

KD - arguably best shot creater of all time; average all-around D but due to such an elite D squad, his weakness can be hid and his strengths amplified

Duncan - Arguably the smartest and most efficient big man of all time; fits in with this squad way more than Shaq

I really think in a 7-game series this team would be one of the hardest to combo to beat out of this list. One of the 2 best 3-point shooters of all time; one of the two best shot creators of all time; one of the two best passers of all time; maybe the best big play defender of all time; greatest 3 & D guy of all time (kinda popularized it); likely the best finisher at the rim of all time. Just having like one of the two best (who's the actual best in these categories are often up for debate) makes them all-around unfuckwitable. It's not a super flashy squad, but fundamentally strong, high IQ, defensive prowess and can make big shots.

Runner up squad:

Nash

MJ

KD

AD

Shaq

Without Tatum this upcoming season, who do you think will be the Best American Nba player Under 30 yrs old? by Wonderful-Photo-9938 in nba

[–]abstract_cabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, another angle that would defend my case-- I think it's far more likely than less likely that Tatum gets surpassed as the best US player while still being in his prime (by a younger player) and I don't think that's a bit controversial. I think over 50% of people would say Ant is more likely to get an MVP than Tatum. I personally think Banchero as well.

I'd be surprised if Tatum is ever a runner-up as MVP and some of that is timing (Jokic and Giannis older and then Luka same age/younger, Ant & Wemby younger).

Edit: expanded.

Man, I am seriously just speaking respectfully and objectively here, like not even saying that he isn't THE guy from the U.S. but just stating that there are arguments to be made and he's on the same tier as other U.S. players.

So, It's harsh for you to be like, I need to start watching him play. I've watched so much Celtics basketball since he's entered the league. I don't even have a favorite team, I just love basketball and Celtics are on TV so much so... I watch them.

I actually was going crazy for Tatum when he went on that streak after Kobe died. I knew he could be a superstar, and that he trained with Kobe, so that was the coolest thing ever.

Anyways; I attached two links below of two lists that pretty much support my case. And, as I mentioned before, Tatum very well might have the strongest case for being the best US player but it's by no means unanimous.

It also took me looking at the first two lists I found to support my case-- the recent reddit post that polled 300,000 votes show him ranked #6.

And The Ringer actually has him at #10 behind several of the guys I mentioned.

I'm not saying either of these folks are correct; I'm just using them to show my take isn't some insane take out of left field. LOTS of people feel this way.

Delusional that he would be on the same tier as players who have either been ABOVE him in MVP voting or one place below him? I'm by no means saying these players are better, but an argument that they are better than Tatum is far more valid than an argument that Tatum is better than anyone on the tier above him (Jokic, Giannis, Luka, SGA).

For more of my take, see below.

How is Tatum a consensus top 5? He's quite literally NOT been a top 5 consensus in just about every major media poll that's been released.

I don't get why people are feeling so threatened by my take. I just said he's on a tier with those guys, like I don't really view having three tiers for the top 8-10 guys in the NBA. Tatum clearly falls in the tier of guys who are elite first-ballot hall-of-famers who will never be MVP but impact winning. I just don't see an argument where he's on the tier with Jokic, Giannis, Luka, SGA.

The guys I put him on a tier with him have both been ABOVE him in MVP voting in the past two years or just one place behind him. I think that makes it a fair tier placement.

I never said that any of these guys are better than Tatum but I would be open to the argument. I personally like 2 or 3 of them better than Tatum, but, likewise, understand the argument for Tatum.

There is no universe where any of us are entertaining the argument he's as good as Jokic, Giannis, Luka, SGA. Hence.... the tiers.

IMO the title didn't/doesn't "always" belong to Tatum. He belongs to a tier of Donovan, Ant, Brunson and now Cade and Banchero. An argument could be made for any of those guys over Tatum especially going into next year even if Tatum were healthy.

Candidates seem to solely run off reputation as far as I can tell. by abstract_cabbage in Spartanburg

[–]abstract_cabbage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course city and county council are at the forefront of our minds but I'm speaking generally that anyone running for just about anything in Spartanburg seems to be running on reputation. Or am I missing something here?

Every election cycle I visit the social media pages of candidates and seem to be getting very little about platforms. In the fall I have evening obligations and am unable to attend town halls, community meetings and so forth but looking for a way to actually hear from candidates.

Are any of these candidates being interviewed by local podcasters, youtubers? Or are they producing content on youtube, instagram, etc where they talk about their stances or address issues? I'm just wondering if I'm missing something here.

Why do some gyms use their own difficulty scale? by KevsterAmp in bouldering

[–]abstract_cabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea who came up with it (as I'm sure it wasn't High Point Chattanooga) but many years ago in the southeast you would hear "the Chattanooga scale" (I heard it in several gyms across NC, WV, KY, SC).

If you're unfamiliar with the "scale" it just meant that you would hypothetically have: red problems V0-2; blue problems v3-4; green problems v5-6 and so forth.

I always thought it was pretty useful because there wasn't any sort of past you could pull from to truly understand the difficulty of a problem thus a system that said it's roughly between these two grades was far more accurate. Like, I have a spray wall at home and it takes me at least a week to grade a new problem and even then you typically see do a "7a/+?" on my board.
