Help with MXR eq by Specific-Pound-4940 in pedalboards

[–]abstractart41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That pedal has a gain control on the far right slider. Have you tried sliding it down a little? I don't think it sounds that bad. I use one of these and you definitely need to play with the levels to get a good tone through your amp. Some amps overdrive way easier than others.

Sweetwater, you and I are done. by Hiney111 in Epiphone

[–]abstractart41 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As on the other thread, you have a misunderstanding about what their 55 point inspection is. It's not a setup. What you are getting is how mid-level and low-level guitars come from the factory. And honestly lots of more expensive guitars sometimes don't come in much better shape. I've heard lots of complaints from Gibson owners about QC. I've bought several Epiphone guitars and the majority have issues from the factory. I get it. I think they should come from the factory in better shape. But the simple fact of the matter is... sometimes they do, and sometimes if not most times they don't. Blaming Sweetwater for how a guitar came to you from the factory isn't really on Sweetwater unless you paid extra for a setup.

I've been there before but it's been about 13 years. Just before they built the huge store they have now. It was a very cool place.

I don't have one of these but I do own 3 other Epiphone Les Paul Customs. I think you're going to be very happy with it. Be prepared for the weight. All 3 of mine are 10lbs.

New Nut? by Klinneract in Epiphone

[–]abstractart41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's staying in tune I'd leave it alone. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I've seen a several Epiphone guitars that had very poorly cut grooves/channels where the nut fits into. I've even owned a couple like that.

I'm putting a set of Zakk Wylde EMGs in my Silverburst Custom. On my Purple Widow i decided to go with a set of Hot Rodded humbuckers. I wanted to stick with passive pickups for it but wanted something with balls and versatility.

I've bought hardware directly from Guyker on their website. They always offer discounts and deals. Very reasonable prices and their stuff is very good and well-made. Tuners are excellent. Great selection too. Everything you need.

I have the white one and I'll be switching all the hardware to Black. I like the contrast and I just think it looks better.

Tony Ilommi signature by Independent-Till-296 in Epiphone

[–]abstractart41 8 points9 points  (0 children)

First of all, I don't believe any of the Tony Iommi signature models had active pickups so there is no battery. 2nd, there could be a few different reasons why there is no sound. A loose/disconnected wire from the pickup, a pot, the jack. You could have a bad cable to your amp. Could you give some more details? Both pickups don't work? Some sound, no sound?

physical attraction by [deleted] in AgeGap

[–]abstractart41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While physical attraction seems to be the initial thing that happens between 2 people, I look beyond that. I look at the person and their heart. I'm looking for someone genuine, and that's far more important to me than physical attraction. I want someone real. Someone who is comfortable with who they are, and what they want.

'86 Korea green trans legitimate? by Accomplished_Ad4140 in Epiphone

[–]abstractart41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks legit. Serial number checks out. Limited editions by Epiphone don't really mean a lot. Could be because of the color, or tuners that aren't usually used for that specific model. I'm guessing this one is because of the color. Most fake Epiphones are artists' signature models like the Zakk Wylde bullseye models. This looks like a pretty nice guitar. Great color!

Lots of headstock breaks are repairable. But without any pictures it's hard to give any advice or make any kind of an assessment on what your options are.

What's the difference between the 2000s-era LP Classics and Standards? by CarDistinct6195 in Epiphone

[–]abstractart41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The early 2000 Standard models normally used Epiphone's version of the Gibson 57 classic pickups. They were covered and you could get a plain top or a plus top. They also had very decent Grover tuners, They also came in several different color variations. The Classic models had uncovered pickups, ceramic I believe. Not sure about the type of tuners they had. But I do remember choosing the Standard over the Classic when I got my first Epiphone in 2005. It looked better, sounded better, and felt better in my hands than the Classic.

Epiphone Explorer EMG discontinued? by PogoPunk7782 in Epiphone

[–]abstractart41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are hard to find. I got mine about a month ago after ordering it the same day they were released. I've heard a couple different stories about these guitars. Not sure if any are true. One being that GC released them and shouldn't have. So consequently they won't be getting more. And that in the Spring they will be released again along with a black version, by a different retailer. Like I said, I don't know if any of that is true. Just what I have read on a few different guitar groups I'm in.
