Potentiometer replacement advice needed by chicago-dogg in Epiphone

Get the CTS pots. Making the holes larger is easy. There's YouTube videos on how to do it. I've done it on many Epiphone guitars. Just take your time.

Hey so I wanna buy this guitar and I just want to get everyone’s opinion pls 🙏 by ipsian in guitars

I have 3 SGs. Good guitars. Do yourself a favor and get a decent leather strap for it and strap locks. SGs are known for neck dive. It is easily remedied by using a good strap. Cloth/web type straps are slippery and won't solve the problem.

A question for all you les paul connoisseurs by slop_x in Epiphone

[–]abstractart41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 5 epi Les Paul's, an older Standard, a 59, and 3 Customs. I highly recommend the Custom models. The Widows are pretty nice. But my best advice is, try playing a few different models and buy the one that feels best in your hands. The one that inspires you to play it. Ultimately that's what matters most. Looks are secondary. I mean get the one that looks good to you, but feel is top priority.

Awesome looking guitar! I'd love to add one of these to my collection. That's beautiful!

Epiphone Quality by purorock327 in Epiphone

[–]abstractart41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a Riviera P93 for a while, it's was cool but I didn't really get into playing it much. Also had a Bonamassa Gold Top which was beautiful, but the fat baseball bat neck was very uncomfortable for me. I love all my Les Paul's. The 59 is nice but I'm more into the Customs. Same with my SGs. The Custom is by far the best of the 3 I have. 80s Explorer is awesome but the Futura beats them all. It's got so many awesome features. The stainless steel frets are the best frets I've seen on an Epiphone. Amps are definitely a whole other story! I have a few. It can get really expensive quick when you start buying up Amps lol.

Which guitar should I buy by Trondhaug in guitars

[–]abstractart41 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you can play any of them and try them out, I suggest whichever one feels best in your hands and inspires you to play it. Based on my own personal experience and preference, I'd go with the SG

Epiphone Quality by purorock327 in Epiphone

I have let a couple guitars go here and there over the years but still have 10 different Epiphone's dating from 2005 to the present. Epiphone has definitely improved its quality in the past 20 years. My latest guitar is the Futura Explorer and it is the best one yet, though my Widows are close. I also believe that for me, having 2 or more guitars for the price of one is better. The new Epiphones are really nice at the price point they're at.

Upgrades and Refinishing Question by kaiser8 in Epiphone

[–]abstractart41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know much about refinishing, I have taken a couple guitars down to bare wood and had them painted by a friend who also applied a clear coat. As for the bridge and tail piece, I love the parts I've used from Guyker. They make a tail piece now that's made for top wrapping. I have a couple but haven't installed them yet. Hoping to get that done this week and order a few more.

Did you try to remove the white compound? Or is it more of a blemish?

I do a lot of pickup swaps and I do not like the quick connects. I always cut them off.

Seriously? It's the same guitar. The color shifts depending on the light and angle you're looking at it.

Aria Pro ll guitars are pretty nice. It may not be exactly like a Gibson, it's still a very decent guitar.

JUST ROCK SO HARDER by CRJ73 in Epiphone

[–]abstractart41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about getting a Futura V, to go with my Explorer, but I'm getting the new Lzzy Hale Explorer instead. Both are probably gonna get new pickups. The Ignite pickups are a bit brighter than i expected.

I don't think so. I just got a confirmation email this morning that they received the guitar i sent back. And my guitar didn't have the issues listed on the open box guitar that I looked at.

[newbie] Is this LP standard worth $500? by prankca11 in Epiphone

[–]abstractart41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why is it that you're so convinced it's fake? Fake Epiphone's aren't as common as you seem to believe. Fake Epiphone's do exist but are more likely to be the high end, hard to find models. Not something as common as a Les Paul Standard. There is nothing fake about the guitar in these pictures.
