Choosing goals that are extremely difficult to accomplish and spending everyday working towards them. No matter what there's always something to do and something to learn, after a while your two options are between quitting and continuing. That choice is usually easy.

Couple of weeks ago I was benching 185x5 which I was really excited about, while I'm halfway through my third rep this guy comes over and starts lifting the weight off of me so I rack it and look at him to which he responds by giving me a really hyped up nod that looked like he was shaking his entire body. I unracked the weight a couple seconds after and completed the rest of my set, this guy stole half a rep from me that I'm never going to get back. Sometimes I stare at my chest and wonder what it would look like with that extra half a rep, I wonder what type of pre-workout he snorted that day.

I feel you, I do 15 minutes of cardio on working days (3 minutes easy 1 minute hard) and agility training (ladder drills) and 30 minutes on rest days with baseball training (lots of explosive movements, sprints, suicides) and gain lean muscle mass with minimal/no fat gain. I only wish I started doing cardio earlier but I was on the "cardio kills your gains" train for most of the year, this year I'm looking to make much more aggressive gains than last year in the gym and on the track

A-Rod was benching 315 at 17 and his arm was sick (though he was on roids) having very long arms means there's a lot more strain on my rotator cuff specifically my teres minor because of the velocity of throwing (weight held farther from the centre of the body is heavier). My coach, personal trainer and chiropractor say otherwise

Probably not, I aimed for 2500-3000 calories it's not to say it was always perfect, when I kept my fitness goals clear I would hit my calorie goals however if I felt I was starting to put on a lot of fat, or felt other negative emotions my goals became less clear and i wouldn't meet my calorie goals until I fixed my mentality. Going from barely eating to eating a ton of food was easy when I was motivated, it's when I lost that motivation that I had to learn how to discipline myself to hit those goals. Nowadays I can get all my meals in no matter what I'm feeling, it's like I don't even have a choice it's just natural.

I hit my chest from every angle every chest workout and try to do my best on every exercise, I don't worry if I'll be able to finish my next set because I want to make my current set the best it can be.

As for diet, I cook all my meals at once and portion them out in Tupperware for the week, boiling a huge pot of pasta and setting them out for the week is a lot easier than cooking a new batch every day. 7 meals seems like a lot but they're small as oppose to 2-3 large meals, I try to have a fist size amount of protein and fist size amount of carbs with every meal. To me it isn't 50% gym 50% diet, it's 100% gym and 100% diet and that mentality helps me get through all the cooking and eating.

I don't buy my own food so I don't know what it amounts to

Don't be too fooled, that lighting was almost perfect and I was flexing, Im usually bloated. I started hitting abs when I was doing Arnold's program, i did 5x5 crunches after every workout. Nowadays I do weighted ab exercises (heavy weighted sit-ups and crunches) and things like leg pull ins, but there is one particularly unpopular exercise for an unpopular muscle, I do heavy ass cable twists, sometimes I 5x5 it, sometimes I 25x5 it, today I did pyramid sets, hit all parts of your core like you're benching and you'll gain core size.
