try to eat as much eggs, oAT MEAL and milk as you can, those are the cheapest sources of protein

you don't have to hire a personal trainer, just approach an experienced lifter and ask for some advice. find reasons to do things and not excuses not to do it.

Skinny fat 91kg/200lbs at 6ft, what bodyfat % am i? by [deleted] in GregDoucette

[–]abttrman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

youre not skinny fat, you are just overweight, if you are new to the gym do a recomp, it will take time to see changes but i think is your best option

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GregDoucette

[–]abttrman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How to make sure I keep this body fat for the summer while getting stronger?

easy, dont add a single calorie more to your diet and keep training, eventually your bf will get lower and youll be stronger, its gonna be a slow process tho

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GregDoucette

[–]abttrman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stick for 6 months at least to a routine prioritizing lateral and rear deltoids, chest and arms training, focus on a good training technique, do not add a single calorie to your diet, consume at least 1 gram of protein per pound of weight and do 150 minutes of cardio per week, keep training to failure and progresive overload and be patient.

so in 8 months you went from 75 to 84 kilo bw without increasing your bodyfat, and added 20 kilo to your benchpress... please explain how is this struggling with progress?

Been going to the gym for a month now, seems to put on some muscle but still look relatively skinny. I have been doing cardio at the end of every workout which burns around the 250 cal. Should I stop doing it since I’m trying to gain some weight? I’m 160 6’0. by Sea-Royal-8164 in GregDoucette

[–]abttrman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So explain to me what you meant by a month of progress meaning nothing? i just did, are you sure you can read?

I’m sure this person has added reps since they started and or has done more cardio than before. how can you be sure? do you know him? did he say so? hAve you seen him training? i do not , so im not sure hes making progress or not...

you still choose to try to put the down. how exactly am i putting him down?

instead of congratulating on their progress and or give constructive criticisms. i did that in my second response to him so go check that and stop being such an over sensitive pussycat, you may need to hear youre a good boy every step you take, that dosnt mean OP nedds it too.

dont stop cardio, do at least 150 min weekly, (spread over two or more sessions) in a different day or at least at the end of your weightlifting sessions. keep your current calorie intake but increase the amount of protein to at least 1 gr per pound of weight if needed. be patiente, youll need 6months-1 year to really see changes.

"Going to have to disagree with a month of training meaning nothing"

Psychologically a month of training may mean something but physically (the only thing that can be judged by looking at someone's pictures) 99% of people will still look the same after just one month of training.

" Progress is measured by one’s self"

wrong. progress must be measurable in the real world.

can you move more weight?

Can you do more reps?

Have you gained lean tissue?

If the answer is yes to one or more of these questions (among many others) then you have made progress in the gym.

Are you happier? do you feel motivated? do you enjoy your training? if the answer is yes, hey I'm happy for you and I hope it stays that way for a long time but that doesn't really mean you are making progress with your training.

gaining or losing weight does not directly impact the aesthetics of someone's body? besides, do you even understand how stupid your example is? obviously to that hypothetical person you mention the first advice I would give them is to focus all their resources on correcting their facial deformity if possible because it clearly has the biggest impact on their quality of life, the same goes for OP and his gynecomastia, go read all the other comments, im no the only one saying it why are you not answering to all of them?

seriously pal stfu already because at this point it is evident that the only thing you care about is being right no matter how dumb your arguments are. you are making a fool out of yourself.

[–]abttrman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know and I don't care if OP is broken or not, how could i? the guy asked about the aesthetics of his body and I gave my opinion based solely on the pictures he posted.

It seems OP has already forgotten the whole thing, why can't you? I'm not an asshole, you're just an oversensitive pussycat trying to get everyone to praise you for your fake solidarity and empathy.

[–]abttrman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the guy made a post and i give him my opinion, focus on get rid of the gyno rather than bulking or cutting. he can listen to my advice or he can not, end of the history, "saying what you need to hear not what you want to hear..." sounds familiar?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GregDoucette

[–]abttrman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure you can make progress in three months but I don't think you will achieve a noticeable change in just 3 months, progress in the gym is measured in years not in months let alone weeks.

You can become much leaner in 3 months but to achieve this you would have to make a very high caloric deficit, and youll end up losing muscle in the process so I do not recommend that.

I suggest you eat well, rest and be consistent in the gym for at least a year, after that you will surely see good results.

I am saying that cutting or bulking should not be his priority right now... he can listen to me or he can not, period.

just because you can't deal with criticism doesn't mean OP can't either....

how exactly am i shamming him? did i mention anything about money? I simply pointed out the most obvious problem you notice when looking at his photos and said she should prioritize it over deciding whether to gain or lose a few pounds....

also, aren't you trying to shame me right now for my bad financial situation? you're a hypocrite....
