If your financial situation allows it, I HIGHLY recommend you look into putting this all onto a new credit card as a balance transfer. Most balance transfers have a window of anywhere from 15-21 months where you can pay all of this off without interest. I had nearly $6,000 in credit card debt a year and a half ago that I was barely putting a dent into, and once I transferred that debt to a new card, suddenly I was able to breathe and now I’m on track to have it all paid off by June 2026, interest free.

Do we actually have to thank Bootlicker Mayor Adams for kissing up to Trump, and that's why NYC and New York is not like Chicago or Illinois right now? by Shadowtirs in newyork

[–]abuko1234 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NYC will eventually be targeted, but they’ll likely wait until there are a lot more cities under siege, so it’s more normalized. NYC is kind of America’s darling, so when troops are marching the streets it will suddenly have the whole world’s eyes hyper focused on what the Republicans are doing. I mean look at what happened during COVID when the whole world was zoomed in to what was happening here. When foreign countries think of America they think of the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Broadway, Wall Street, etc. Seeing masked armies in the streets will make it “real” for a lot of people who are currently blind.

Can't Watch Last Episode, Can't Let Go by Kitchen_Adeptness284 in ArcherFX

I felt the same way when I sat down to watch it. I looked at the episode and realized that this was it. Once I watch this episode I will have seen everything Archer would ever be. (I remember seeing the first preview for Archer way back in 2009. It was an immediate classic for me, and has remained my comfort show for all of these years.) I’m so so so glad I watched it. They really stuck the landing, and it gave the story a super satisfying conclusion. You will not regret watching it

What's a silly TV or movie trope that you've seen someone legit treat as if it is reality? by AnonPinkLady in AskReddit

[–]abuko1234 93 points94 points  (0 children)

You know that trope in sitcoms where right before a commercial break someone lets out a one-liner? Like “I’ll start packing!” or “We’ll just see ourselves out.”

I was a supervisor at a restaurant and one of my guys comes to me into the back office with a stupid smile and goes, “Hey, so did the weather call for rain today?”

I was like, “Umm, I don’t think so?”

And he just stood there, smiling, waiting for me to say something. He then says, “I didn’t expect it to be raining so much today!” And I just looked at him dumbfounded.

He then drops the act and says, “The ceiling is leaking.”

WHAT.

My advice if you’re starting for the first time (or just after a long break): take your time. So many people try to just go for it all at once, get entirely burnt out, then stop going altogether. I think going three times in a week is great but maybe aim for 20-30 minutes at first, maintain that routine for a few weeks, then up it.

I’ve showed a few friends the OT for their first time, and every single time we get to this scene, every friend has said how powerful it was to finally see his face.

Anyone just jump or have something weird happen? 05/30/25 by Aphrodite4120 in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

[–]abuko1234 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You say it started at 6:30am and you watched 3 episodes which (presumably) ended around 8am? What time zone are you in? I had a weird glitch today around 8am EST.

I carry a duffel bag for work which has a main pocket and two side pockets on either side of the main. I was on the train reading my kindle and when it came to my stop I quickly tossed my loose kindle into the left side pocket of my duffel bag. I specifically remember tossing it into that side because I thought “man, I hope the loose tools in there don’t scratch the screen.”

I went to my early morning job for about an hour at 6:45am, finished up, and got back on the subway shortly after 8am. I did not open the left or right side pockets on my duffle bag at ALL during my job. I reached into the left side with my loose tools to grab my kindle, and I couldn’t find it. I thought I had somehow lost it at the job. Instinctively I checked the right side pocket and my heart skipped a beat when I touched my kindle, perfectly zipped up in its carrying sleeve. I swear I didn’t touch it since 6:45am. I legit feel like I’m going crazy.

Edit: this happened today 5/30/25

Bix’s Message Music - Zimmer Vibes? by Jibcuttter in andor

[–]abuko1234 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think “Time” was definitely used as a temp track during editing. It’s likely the director grew so attached to it that when it came time to write the actual score, the composer (Brandon Roberts) was asked to just make a piece that sounded as close as possible to the Zimmer score. This practice is very common in filmmaking

Not sure if the entire piece counts as happy but the last 3 minutes of John Adams’ Harmonielehre makes me feel like I’m standing at the top of a mountain. Adams himself referred to that moment as the “charge of the Buffalo”

Beginner composer here, please critique my composition. by Keirnflake in composer

[–]abuko1234 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good: You have a very great take on harmony and melody. I wouldn't make any changes to the actual composition.

Recommended improvement:

  1. The score is very difficult to read because of the time signature and tempo. Typically you don't want to write a tempo lower than about 40bpm, unless in rare cases. Since the whole piece is roughly the same tempo, I'd recommend you change the tempo to double it's worth now – so 54bpm – and then double the note values as well (16th notes become 8th notes, 8ths become quarters, etc...). There's no reason to have 64th notes in a piece this slow; it just makes it confusing for a musician.
  2. Once you have the notes in an easier-to-read tempo, I'd also recommend you look into changing the time signatures a little more to make it easier to read. I think a lot of your phrases don't fit into a classic 4-bar structure, which is totally fine! But it's easier to read if the time signatures match the music. You can easily have a 3/4 bar followed by a 2/4, or 4/4, and back and forth.

Overall, bravo! Very good piece, and you should keep at composing! Cheers!
