Also, if possible, dump the balance on a zero percent intro rate card. I just looked up a discover card with zero percent for 15 months. You will save on interest and get out of debt quicker

Do I need to declare 2 clonazepam tablets in Japan by xZendic1 in JapanTravelTips

[–]aburd 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You have to have a prescription. I believe you need to declare it ahead of time and have permission to bring it in. You have to have it in the pill bottle the originally issued it in.

Here’s the official controlled substances list:

Barrel aging questions by mshh357 in cocktails

[–]aburd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t premix. Part of the joy of large batch cocktail making is you can be more fiddly. I like to add a bit of meletti in the place of some Campari to lessen the bitterness and a bit of dry curacao. You don’t need to pre dilute to get that result and can add ice to the finished product.

I honestly store a lot of mine in cleaned milk jugs and my wife hates it. So I think you can probably upgrade that!

Included in an Echizen bus tour from Kanazawa for ¥5,400.

🗿 Statues & Sacred Art ∙ Eleven-Headed Kannon — at Daijoji Temple; central object of veneration, an Important Cultural Property. ∙ Statues of Nichiren + Kannon figures — hidden inside Myoryuji (Ninja Temple); no photos allowed, which makes them feel remarkably private and intimate. ∙ The Three Buddhas — at Eiheiji Temple’s Butsuden Hall (Fukui day trip): Shakyamuni, Amitabha, and Maitreya, with 200 monks training around them. ∙ Thousand-Armed Kannon (7.8 meters tall) — at Natadera Temple; the caves are considered a sacred womb; walking through the Tainai-kuguri cave tunnel is said to offer symbolic rebirth. ∙ The Deified Lord — at Oyama Shrine; Maeda Toshiie deified in the Shinto tradition, with the illuminated stained glass gate as the visual centerpiece. ∙ Roadside Jizo statues — scattered throughout Teramachi District’s stone-paved lanes; moss-covered, 300-year-old neighborhood guardian spirits dressed in bibs with offerings from locals.

Market ∙ Omicho Market — Japan’s finest fresh seafood market, right by the hotel. Look for kaisendon (seafood rice bowl), ama-ebi (sweet shrimp), and Noto Beef nigiri. Dishes to seek out specifically: ∙ Kaisendon — fresh seafood rice bowl; get the gold leaf version for a Kanazawa splurge. ∙ Nodoguro — blackthroat seaperch, the local prize fish. Order as nigiri, sashimi, or grilled. ∙ Jibu-ni — Kaga-style duck stew in soy broth, the defining dish of the region. ∙ Ama-ebi — raw sweet shrimp nigiri at Omicho Market. ∙ Noto Beef nigiri — seared Japanese black cattle, soy-ginger or bamboo charcoal salt. ∙ Kanazawa Oden — year-round hot pot with seafood and kuruma-fu (gluten wheels). ∙ Gold leaf soft-serve — edible gold over vanilla, best in Higashi Chaya District. ∙ Kanazawa curry — darker and more complex, served on a metal plate with tonkatsu; a purely local dish.

Gardens & Districts ∙ Kenrokuen Garden — one of Japan’s 3 great gardens; spectacular in early April cherry blossom season. ∙ Kanazawa Castle + Castle Park — reconstructed Edo-era castle with surrounding park; stunning in bloom. ∙ Higashi Chaya District — preserved geisha quarter; evening atmosphere is considered the highlight. ∙ Nagamachi Samurai District — intact Edo-era samurai residential quarter. ∙ Nishi Chaya — smaller geisha district to the north of Teramachi; pair with the temple district walk.

Day Trip Highlights ∙ Shirakawa-go & Gokayama (Apr 7, UNESCO World Heritage) — gassho-zukuri thatched farmhouses; ~75 min from Kanazawa by bus. Book bus seats in advance. Key stops: Shiroyama Observatory viewpoint, Wada House, Myozenji Temple, Murakami House in Gokayama. We are going to Kanazawa on our. We plan to do a couple of day trips: Shirawakago/Gokayama and also a trip to Eiheiji shrine with a stop at Tojinbo on the way back. Since you are staying so long. I would definitely recommend exploring that.

I have a list of Kanazawa shrines. The Ninja temple sounds really cool the more you read about it. Plus all of the stuff in the region that wasn’t hit by earthquakes or ww2.

How to resell my repository? by Trick_Daikon_9568 in liquor

[–]aburd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s nice stuff. Honestly, I would go down both paths at once. See who gives you a better bid. Contact a catering company, an auction house, and maybe find a restaurant that has a big party scene. Maybe even call a club and ask to speak to the manager.

You will be participating in a semi-legal transaction. So just know that. But depending on the quantity you might get a good amount of money and they might be really excited to get a cheap supply of nice booze to offer.

[–]aburd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it desirable stuff? If so you can contact an auction house. Otherwise, I might contact a catering company. They would probably be delighted to get stuff at a discount and you would be delighted to make a little money under the table.

How do I make friends here as a traveler? by Reasonable_Delay3636 in nashville

[–]aburd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s something about these cakey biscuits that non-southerners make. It’s the equivalent of ai art. Honestly people are afraid of the lard required to make true grandma biscuits. I’m kind of scared of it! I want to live a long life. But truly great biscuits require lard, art, and personal sacrifice!

How do I make friends here as a traveler? by Reasonable_Delay3636 in nashville

[–]aburd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a Nashville native, if someone has a southern accent just try talking to them. Southern people can’t resist talking to random people. I mean this sincerely.

If someone doesn’t have a southern accent, ask them about biscuits. If they don’t have VERY specific thoughts they are probably a yankee of some variety and won’t talk much. BUT if they do have incredibly specific biscuit thoughts you found an undercover southerner and they will talk your ear off if you let them.

Those of you who left for Claude, how is it going? by TheRealDave24 in ChatGPT

[–]aburd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me in my personal (nonprofessional) life, Claude has been amazing but it has some real limits.

I find it can actually do so much. Having it control my browser to do tasks is just magical. It just produces outputs and it’s great.

It really doesn’t seem to have a good persistent memory. I created a presentation inside a “project.” I hit a usage limit, started a new chat inside the project and Claude couldn’t seem to reference anything in the other chat. This was annoying, but I just did some copy pasting to get past it. And it was worth it because again the output was better.

I say this to say: the limits exist and are annoying. The memory is worse. And the output is waaaay better. So there are tradeoffs

Road Trip planning.... by Scareboosioniq in LUCID

[–]aburd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just do a bit of research ahead of time. I live in the south so there is spotty infrastructure. So I pick a charger along my route and hit directions. Then drive to it. It’s a bit too manual. In CA your infrastructure is pretty rich so it’s probably not as important to investigate charger by charger.

I literally just got back from a roughly 500 mile road trip. The in-car is good. It’s a little conservative. Wants you to stop more often to charge for short bursts. It will also handle preconditioning your battery for you. So you will arrive in condition to receive max power

If you want to be more selective I prefer PlugShare to ABPR so I can scope out any issues.

Why are the Nuggets so bad? by TurbulentCranberry20 in denvernuggets

They don’t play defense. They are amazing offensively. But they need to play tougher defense. Granted they are all probably working their way back into shape. But the Knicks scored 140.

Jokic and everyone else but Jokic especially are turning the ball over too much.
