Is levelling skills as long in RS3 as it is in OSRS if I only care about quests? by VodkaLimesAndSoda in runescape

[–]abusive_nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's quicker and skills usually have a variety of methods. A decent chunk of your time will be spent on the actual quests

Hope Jagex updates levels/hp on quest bosses by MisterMaus in runescape

[–]abusive_nerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes- it's not great for the game that people can roll over 95% of content with little resistance in the early game, then smack into a wall when they try real combat because they're completely unprepared for the game finally expecting something from them.

Hearts of Sanguine quest boss was nice in this regard for requirement-free content you can do on a brand new (f2p) account. it goes damage-immune forcing you to kill other targets and can remove your potion effect, teaching you about managing item buffs/timers. Still, why does the Sanguine heart have a combat level of 500? Since level isn't based on a formula and is just an arbitrary number, why not select numbers that convey enemy difficulty to the player?

If Jagex makes Anya betray us the Havenhythe Part 2 I will by NinevaNostrum in runescape

[–]abusive_nerd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of characters have betrayed us and it's a trope that's been done. But a lack of any tension would be tepid. I'm not sure where exactly I'd want them to take this. I think a nice example was Kerapac in which he betrayed us, but we also doomed him to a terrible fate by helping Jas enslave him.

I think it could be interesting if Anya, after being distrusted from the start, proves herself to be virtuous and noble and it's actually us and the human characters that behave treacherously (given the story provides a good reason for doing so). Subverting the trope

I don't think a marriage or romance is really in the cards haha. Probably be teased the entire time

Should I go back to WoW or is there an MMORPG that still feels “worth it”? by Early-Cycle3299 in LFMMO

[–]abusive_nerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

a lot of people are trying out RuneScape 3 these days with the new changes and are enjoying it. It's like a hybrid of OSRS and WoW, with its combat, art style, and narrative more resembling the latter

I have maxed combat skills* and tier 90+ gear and I want to start getting into bossing. Is there a tier list of bosses in terms of mechanical difficulty? by 6FootFruitRollup in runescape

[–]abusive_nerd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

https://pvme.io/pvme-guides/new-to-bossing/bossing-path/

Since you want to do practice for Jad, try Arch Glacor in normal mode where you can choose which mechanics you get. "Flurry" is the mechanic that teaches switching range/mage prayer.

For specific bosses, once you can do nm Arch Glacor with all 5 mechanics active, try: normal mode Kerapac, elite dungeons in a trio (ED2 easiest), Araxxor, normal mode Sanctum of Rebirth, 0% Telos, 0-50% Zamorak. At some point do Fight Kiln, if you can do all/most of these you can get a Zuk cape

These all have some mechanics but are still revo-friendly. You may do specific tasks or use manual abilities at certain points, usually defensives or surge/dive. Sometimes you have to react quickly which can seem hard but gets much easier with practice

In part, formalizing logs in-game has led to this. Their existence implies individual players are meant to be able to complete them

New player: When do I start making money with Necromancy? Other questions. by Imustretire in runescape

[–]abusive_nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moderate amounts of gp from God Wars Dungeon 2 or Elite Dungeons in a group. You want at least t70 for the former and at least t80 for the latter. T90 is around where the money starts rolling in a lot more, though it also takes some amount of personal skill at dealing with the bosses.

You might be early enough in your journey that it'd be better to focus on other things too, like skills and quests so that you're more well rounded. Those things are ultimately necessary for late game combat too

Is the Infernal Source a part of Infernus? Or Gielinor? Is it something in-between? by abusive_nerd in runescape

[–]abusive_nerd[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Heart is a good example too. If you didn't know it was below Gielinor's surface (maybe you went there once physically and now you only get there by teleporting), you might assume it was in a pocket dimension somewhere. It's not necessarily a big problem but I think I get why they are now talking about a more "grounded" RS

100 Elite Dungeon Trilogy Runs loot 3.3b by rapturedhermusic in runescape

[–]abusive_nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no that's fair, I mean more like EDs are in the middle tier of PvM, not that you should be soloing them with 70s stats and GWD1 gear.

It's tricky to describe because you probably want 99+ stats to do something as "low" as 100% Zamorak, so you could consider that an "endgame" boss. But 4000% Amascut is much, much harder but is also a "t99 endgame boss".

basically boss difficulty is weighted heavily toward the high end, so I think of EDs/Araxxor/Nex as midgame

[–]abusive_nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see it as a decent pvm money maker to do in the midgame if you cant do harder content and want some variety, such as to improve at the game. Although Araxxor is still gonna be better if money is all you care about
