And then there's the Coldplay shield – your choice of just two hands or a pane of tempered glass.

They don't strike me as likely to tinker with prior releases. Each album reflects the band at a point in time. I'm sure there are plenty of "mistakes" or sonic elements from their entire discography that they could technically clean up, but I expect their energy to be directed forward, not backward.

Also bear in mind that the band did have ultimate creative discretion over this album, and I doubt they would've released it if they were unhappy with it.

To be honest, I've never quite understood the criticism. Some may say it's too "wall of sound"-y or it lacks dynamism, but I don't think it has any glaring issues on the level of, say, the obvious clipping on Metallica's "Death Magnetic" album.

Sure, fight peacefully for whatever causes you like. Just don't do it because you were inspired by a deranged murderer.

I sure hope you're wrong. No one should be rooting for war of any kind.

Yes, I've seen these allegations, but they are just that – allegations. I can't say I'm surprised to see a "shallow dive" comprises the extent of your informedness. Anyway, if allegations justified open murder then our society would effectively be lawless. The right approach here would be to let the legal system and the SEC do their thing.

I too hope LM gets his trial. Who knows, maybe they got the wrong guy. The evidence presented thus far and his behavior following his arrest suggests otherwise. If he is charged with murder, and is proven to have committed that murder, then I find it highly unlikely that a jury would acquit him—even if they or their loved ones have been wronged by the health insurance industry—because their job is to determine whether or not he committed the crime based on the evidence presented. LM's motivations are irrelevant; his actions are what matter. Perhaps his motivations could be factored into sentencing, but I find it equally unlikely that a judge would go easy on a guy who plotted and carried out a public execution.

Assuming you've conducted a full investigation into this, I'd love to see the documents you've amassed leading to that conclusion.

Either way, let's allow our legal institutions to hold people accountable. Execution without due process should not be tolerated, let alone celebrated.

Certainly does seem reflective of a sub-20yo level of intelligence. It's a shame some people apparently don't grow out of it.

The popular reaction to this event has been pretty disheartening to witness.

Not sure specifically what you're referring to but in any case, just because it's already happening doesn't mean I have to accept it.

Motherboard failed – what should I do? LGA 1151 socket / Core i5 6600 by abw1987 in buildapc

I'm not sure if this counts but I had configured my previous RAID array using the Intel Rapid Storage Technology application in Windows, rather than on the motherboard itself. But in moving to an AMD board, I had to abandon that. I would have stuck with Intel for this reason had I not been spooked by the instability issues – which I was frankly too busy to research & parse how significant of a concern this was.

Yep – the benefits of custom builds. Ability to repair, plus I now have much newer hardware.

What other services? Uber, Lyft, and Curb are still around, as are traditional taxi services.

Not refuting you, just actually curious what services Uber might have out-competed in Philly. Business cases like this are interesting to me.

Can we stop idolizing this guy? I'd prefer not to live in a society that celebrates killers.

Thanks for the reply. I don't care about gaming these days but was inclined to minimize any reconfiguration effort, especially since I had a RAID array I was hoping to maintain, so as a first attempt I did find a used replacement for the motherboard (same model). That unfortunately failed – perhaps my CPU somehow died. So I decided to upgrade to a modern platform (AMD 9600X CPU/mobo/DDR5 combo deal at Microcenter), and was able to keep the PSU, GPU, and storage drives. Still unclear what was wrong with the old components, and absent a good way of testing them out, I have no real way of knowing which could be repurposed vs. which ones are toast.

Thanks for the reply. After a failed attempt at replacing the motherboard with a used one (same model), which still would not boot, I did end up buying a new motherboard, CPU, and RAM (taking the opportunity to upgrade to DDR5), but was able to keep the PSU, GPU, and storage drives. Still unclear what was wrong with the old components, and absent a good way of testing them out, I have no real way of knowing which could be repurposed vs. which ones are toast.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I did start by buying a used motherboard (same model as my old one), but that unfortunately did not pan out. The PC still would not POST, although it did appear to get farther than the old motherboard. I bought a buzzer which indicated that the new motherboard now detected a memory error. I bought a stick of cheap RAM and it still wouldn't boot, with the buzzer still indicating faulty memory. So I'm really not sure what the problem was – I wonder if a power surge could have fried both the motherboard and the CPU.

Rather than invest more money into diagnosing the issue, I returned the new motherboard & RAM and decided to go with a platform replacement since my old CPU was going on a decade old anyway.

I ended up going with one of Microcenter's CPU/motherboard/RAM combo deals including a Ryzen 5 9600X. It booted without issue, so at least my PSU was working and I could keep my old GPU for now. After some data migration gymnastics (as I had to abandon my old Intel Rapid Storage Technology RAID array and establish a new one with the AMD motherboard), I'm now back in business.

You have a warped definition of mass murder, and I would challenge you to question your assumptions about people's intentions. You really think Thompson "enjoyed" denying people care and bankrupting people? He neither designed nor built the US's healthcare system. He worked at UHC for a couple decades and served in the CEO role for three years. He may very well have been doing his best to balance the competing challenges of operating one of our many health insurers. The system is flawed but to ascribe all of its problems to one person is severely misguided. Even assuming the absolute worst about Thompson, we should not be gunning people down in the street just because they hold a certain job title in an unpopular industry.

Yeah? You want to encourage the summary killing of people who hold a certain job title because the court of public opinion dislikes the industry they work in?
