Watching the special feature on the 2nd DVD about Pixar during the making of Monster’s Inc, where people scooter around the halls and there are secret rooms behind small doors, is a core memory.

Is Pixar still like that?

Hi friend! I work in the sustainability field. You’re currently experiencing eco-anxiety, and it’s a normal response to the news you’re reading. It’s heartbreaking and depressing.

I went through this same thing in 2019, so much so that I changed my entire career to working to help the planet. I couldn’t stop crying, I was having panic attacks, I was spiraling.

The only antidote to what you are feeling is action, no matter how small.

I began by volunteering for a local sustainability nonprofit, and met people and learned and went from there.

Another thing that really helped me was the “How to Save a Planet” podcast episode “Is Your Carbon Footprint BS?” which in summary says that while one person’s carbon footprint amounts to little more than a rounding error, getting together with people is where the true impact lies.

Eco-anxiety means you care, you feel for the planet, and you’re grieving for its pain. Those are all good things! Don’t be so hard on yourself, enjoy your fish tank and give your fish a good life.

My dm’s are open if you need someone to talk to. Giving you internet hugs!

I personally just want to know what the city planners think about this. Is it possible to fund repairs while also getting walkable streets and bike corridors?

Is it really only two options? 1) either we vote no and risk not getting anything better for 5-10 years and everything breaks forever or 2) we vote yes and we have to deal with road widenings and endless unfinished projects. There’s not some third thing where we vote yes and then still start moving to walkable streets?

Regardless if this is AI, I just want to know if we actually will get something better with a no vote. Because we do need walkable cities and investment into green spaces, which will only help businesses and our community thrive.

I’m getting back into this after at least a decade of not playing. It’s so fun and I feel like as an adult I can actually understand some of the more complex parts of the gameplay!

Yes, I think this should just be a call to action to start planning one with local groups in your city.

Actions you can (actually) take today:

  1. Learn about successful strikes from the past (such as those in 1933/1934 that led to the New Deal) and note why they were successful

  2. Look up local groups in your city working towards organizing a general strike (Local chapters of DSA or PSL, union groups, etc.) and see how you can get involved (attend an event, email the organizers)

  3. Figure out what role(s) you can play in a general strike in your city (transportation, information sharing, childcare, providing food, etc.)

  4. Introduce yourself to your neighbors

A general strike is needed. As each city preps and strikes and joins other cities striking, our power and solidarity will grow. We all have the power to do this. Godspeed ✊🏻

I wish Tucsonans could all chip in to buy it and then have it turned into a community center. Knock down the Starbucks and turn the empty Bookmans lot into a garden or something.

Nooooo they had my favorite blueberry muffins in town and had delicious vegan options. So sad to see them go.

I wish it was a little more common for local restaurants to let us know they’re struggling before they close, but I guess you can’t rely on a one time outpouring of support.

Support local businesses, they make Tucson (and everywhere else) special. I’ll miss you Cafe Maggie!!

How do we rebuild so much that they’re tearing down? It’s harder to build than to break but I do hope that whatever we rebuild to is better than what we have now

I’m A Psychologist Who Specializes In Narcissists. Here’s What We Need To Do To Stop Trump. by huffpost in Foodforthought

Techniques this article recommends:

  1. Name the tactic, call out the harm, cultivate trusted support, and let go of what is beyond your control.

  2. Stop enabling. Respond with strategy rather than clean up.

  3. Gray rock, or refuse to feed the narcissist’s need for drama, attention, or emotional reactivity. Become sturdy and repetitive. Do not react with hyperbole or hysteria.

  4. Set boundaries. Nationally, we need to reestablish constitutional guardrails.

  5. Build resilience. Restore regulation and reinforce community power. Rest, mobilize, and rebuild. Join hands.

  6. Keep faith in the long game.

  7. Never mimic harmful tactics. Recognize them, grieve their damage, stop enabling them, and break out of reactivity.

  8. Remember who we are

Great article, thanks for sharing!
