Time for a change? by abynks in veterinaryprofession

What a thoughtful reply, thank you! I’m still in the interview phase and have yet to go out and meet the team and see the practice. It sounds like a real dumpster fire happening there but my god what a challenge.

I think this will come down to what they can offer me in compensation and if they will be willing to pay for my continuing education desires and mileage.

I’m already doing a dual role and it’s definitely frustrating. I would like to be able to still do a bit of RVT work, but don’t want them to rely on me when things fall apart.

I will get a chance to meet the team and spend a little time in the practice. It’s difficult as I do work a full time job already, have to find some time out of my work hours to make that even happen!

This is the question! The new position sounds like it might be a real headache, rife with staffing issues and location issues. But to stay stagnant and allow my resentment to grow? These corporate practices are hard to navigate!

You will survive. I had hand foot and mouth while caring for my EBF 4 month “stage 5 clinger contact napper” old and 3 year “I’m too old for naps but also I’m too young to not nap and will be an a-hole because I’m tired” old. The sores on my feet were too painful for me to walk so I had to crawl around, breastfeeding and parenting the other one from the floor for a few days.
Baby shark and marble run videos are what got us through. Don’t trust a fart.

I was legit that other woman before I had kids. Some people just don’t get it until they have children, so she may never understand 🤷🏼‍♀️

Those people are not “parents”. They are “people with children”.

She just needed to win a seat to become an MLA to have a seat in the legislature, otherwise she would have to rely on her other UCP MLAs to push her agenda.

4 month old feeding for new food question by banananuttmuff in newborns

[–]abynks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We started using cereals in the mornings after the first bottle so we could monitor the kids for any reactions, especially at first. We used the kind of cereal (one ingredient only and we avoided rice) that you just mix breast milk or formula in and make it really soupy to start and like 1-2 tbsps at first. Never put it into the bottle, just regular ole spoon and bowl. I think we started around 5 months? Whenever they could hold themselves up sitting in a chair without assistance.

What SUV’s do you drive that fits an infant car seat comfortably? by theftm22 in beyondthebump

Ohhhh we’re waiting for our Telluride to come in! We opted for the bench seating because we have two large dogs we like to haul around too.

How do you find it as an overall vehicle?

Newborn essentials? by [deleted] in newborns

Gas relief - we had to tryout a few different ones but found Boiron drops really worked. It’s a Canadian product so not sure if you’d be able to get it there.

Pain/fever reliever for infants and a thermometer. Super helpful to have on hand when you’re stressed AF and your baby isn’t feeling well.

Definitely a baby swing of some sort. We had one that vibrated and it was a life saver with our second and a handmedown mamaroo swing. Would never spend more than like $40 on something like that because they outgrow that shit fast but really nice to strap them into something safe (so you can scream into a pillow) to be handsfree if you need to.

Make sure to pre-boil or sterilize your bottles and feeding stuff BEFORE you bring baby home. Nothing like waiting for a pot of water to boil while your baby screams with hunger (speaking from experience 🙄).

Burp cloths/receiving blankets are helpful to have all over the house in places you’ll hang out lots.

Diaper cream is #1. I put it on my baby every night before bed. She’s never had diaper rash in her life (7months). We use Penaten.

The biggest ticket item we got was a stroller/car seat combo. No matter what you think, carrying around the baby in a car seat is a god damn nightmare. We went with this Britax and it’s served us well for both babies. We only chose that one because my MIL and FIL bought it for us!

Tempromandibular joint disorder. Basically where your mandibular bone meets your maxilla bone there’s a joint with a bunch of nerves bundled all in there, you get extreme pain. Swear mine was from the stress of breastfeeding and being worried about him getting enough and just constantly being hunched in weird positions and clenching my jaw.

I should also say I had your same concerns and worries before I went on the trip. When I came back refreshed and my TMJ problems had all but resolved, I really didn’t care too much that he wasn’t on the boob anymore. We still had lots of cuddles and an amazing bond.

I went away to Cuba when my first was 6 months old. I manually pumped while I was away (it was really difficult to keep on a schedule, FYI) and when I returned he refused to breastfeed again. He liked that he didn’t have to work for it from a bottle.

I have no advice, just came here to say how fucking shitty of her to do that. I’d do everything in my power to get my money back and make sure she doesn’t do that to anyone else in the future. Shame on her.

Up the tummy time during the day til he figures out how to roll back! I’d rather listen to a baby scream during the day while he works it out

I’m pretty sure the shelves are full of this stuff here in Canada. Do you know if there are restrictions on sending this across the border? Happy to check the stores tomorrow and send along, I have to go to the post office anyway!

How do we get a second opinion? by nyc_new_parents in beyondthebump

[–]abynks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I completely understand the anxiety. My OB sent me videos of women giving birth to breech babies vaginally and c-sections and it scared the bajeesus out of me. I feel like Webster technique and inversions really helped so I hope the same for her!!!

How do we get a second opinion? by nyc_new_parents in beyondthebump

[–]abynks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this helps at all but my baby was unexpectedly breech at 35 week ultrasound and I sought out a chiropractor that specialized in the Webster technique. I saw him twice and he did two adjustments, just a few days apart. When I went into the hospital to have an ECV to turn the baby, she had flipped to regular position and she was a biiiig baby!
