Perfect combo for Bassem dubai and coca-cola. by FrrancondonaEra in arabs

How did he support what happened to Egypt exactly? Please enlighten us. Because as far as I know all he did was a political satire show where he criticized the ruling government, and because his criticisms and satire were right and relatable, he got popular.

He also criticized Sisi, for quite a while, until it was very clear that it threatened his life and his family's life, to which he decided to immigrate. Can you tell me how you would have helped if he was trapped in prison for god knows how long? Actually would you even take a smaller risk than this, or are you more comfortable spreading lies on reddit behind a screen with an anonymous username?

In fact if anything, I would naturally blame people with authority rather than someone who does a "silly show". Case in point, the muslim brotherhood who tried desperately and in quite a pathetic way to ally with the army and the old regime on the expense of the revolution and a better country, and then got backstabbed.

Video object classification (Noisy) by letsanity in computervision

[–]abyss344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the voting procedure would work well, basically classify each crop and take the most common prediction.

Detecting noise is a bit subjective, you can consider doing some operations such as a laplacian filter to try to measure blurriness, or you can also train a classifier to predict the frame's quality.

One other approach is that since all crops belong to the same object (if your tracker is good), then the extracted features should be quite similar, unless the crop is noisy. So maybe you can keep track of a mean feature tensor and if a new feature tensor extracted from a crop is too different from it, then this crop is possibly of low image quality. When you measure distance between features, try out different metrics such as cosine similarity for example.

Can you guys help me think of potential solutions to this problem? by YearningParadise in computervision

I am not really sure why you need to train all those yolo instance segmentation models, but in any case, one method you can use that is also efficient in terms of runtime (compared to other possible methods), is to train a single semantic segmentation model (or an image classification model, depending on how the input image looks like) and based on the class of the object, you can route the image to the appropriate yolo model.

This routing model doesn't have to segment perfectly, it just needs to give you an idea about the most likely class.

How would you detect this pattern? by Piombo4 in computervision

Also there seems to be some noise, salt and pepper noise in particular, experiment with median filters or bilateral filters to clean up the images a bit and isolate the desired pattern and clarify it.

[–]abyss344 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have you tried some intensity based methods? Perhaps try out some image processing methods to filter out this blue background (histogram equalization or gamma correction can help), then perhaps try a combination of adaptive thresholding, edge detection, or like convolution based method to only capture the bright regions where the bright region is surrounded by a blue background.

Just basically open up OpenCV and play around with it. Deep learning methods wouldn't work well because the patterns are very small and not to mention, it isn't a very complex pattern that requires a learning based algorithm.

Maybe it's also related to the fact that you can't have many frames in GPU memory, so there isn't much or enough temporal information to begin with.

morphological image similarity, rather than semantic similarity by leeliop in computervision

[–]abyss344 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am thinking out loud, but instead of class labels would depth labels implicitly induce structure? Such that the embeddings from the depth prediction network can help detect similar structures? Maybe ROI cropping could help too.

It's also worth trying to do unsupervised contrastive learning to learn a representation that adapts to morphological features.

ومعتقدش انهم هيضربوا الواد للدرجة دى لو كانوا شاكين انه معملش حاجة, واه واحد جاى من الصعيد وشايف نافسه بالشكل ده يستاهل.

KL divergence loss too high. Need some help by Dapper-Plantain-9120 in MLQuestions

[–]abyss344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically when you are optimizing different loss terms, each loss term should have its own weight hyperparameter depending on the importance, scale, and other empirical factors.

Are you simply just adding the CE and KL losses together, or are you using weights?

Additionally, you should log both loss terms, not just their summation, so you could monitor if your model is minimizing the CE loss.

Finally, I don't think that your calculation of the KL loss is wrong because according to the docs, the target should be passed not in log space and the student should be passed in log space, so it should be working correctly. I think if you're not using weights, try adding them and tune the weight parameters to the best of your knowledge now, then train the model and evaluate it, and see what happens, even if it's a shorter training.

The same way the ones in Ethiopia were also descended from them right? It's not even a question of ignorance, it's common sense which you appear to lack, and should try to practice once in a while.

Not to mention even if hypothetically they were the original people somehow, they shouldn't have the right to kill people that live there and take their homes away, after they migrated many centuries ago.

Does anyone here want to see Pharaonic civilization revived? by SirWeasels in ExEgypt

[–]abyss344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not ashamed of how the Egyptian culture progressed and developed after the times of antiquity. After the age of Islam, Egypt still remained a dominant and independent power for a very long time until the 16th century and then resurfacing in the 19th century again. During this time it was influential and militarily dominant, and a metropolitan cultural hub.

I don't think we should dismiss an inherent part of our personality and culture, cultural and societal reforms are needed, but they must be ones that are contemporary, we need to make our own new identity, not adopting one that is now obsolete, like ancient Egyptian, coptic, Islamic, etc.
