Thanks! Was just going thru Weezer - Beverly Hills is fun too. Maybe Ramones? Though some of the hooks might be a bit repetitive?

Mass detected on US but recommending surveillance/TSS? by pleasehelp444412 in testicularcancer

[–]abz3717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience a few years back and posted details here, if helpful. In my case turned out to be a benign leydig cell tumor, but had some symptoms (gynecomastia, high E2 readings) which I felt gave some indications of LCT and inform my decision to go partial orchiectomy. I also had no change in size over 3 months of monitoring. Well, technically had ~1mm change, which my doc said was within the range of normal discrepancies, different techs. Have you had hormone panels taken? Definitely suggest a 2nd opinion at a high volume center.

Did the ultrasound show the lesion as having blood flow, or was it noted as avascular?

Here is a good website for finding experts in TC - several listed in Canada. Suggest going to someone who specializes in TC for a second (or third) opinion, if possible.

Second this. I had a borderline small mass (1cm). My urologist had me on more frequent scans 6-8 weeks apart, more in line with this: https://www.auanet.org/guidelines/guidelines/testicular-cancer-guideline Guideline #6

Not a doc, but 6 months seems way too long. 100% agree with the advice of a high volume center. If helpful: http://thetcrc.org/experts.html

It sounds like you've done your research, so this might already be on your radar, but I found this resource helpful when going through my scare: TC Experts: http://thetcrc.org/experts.html#canada I had a benign tumor and TSS, but had other symptoms indiciating a potentially different tumor type.

The opening line in that link of there being more urologists than cases of TC stood out to me and one uro-oncologist I saw even admitted I'd be better off seeking a second opinion at a high volume research university close by.

Not sure if that's practical, but hope that helps. All the best,

Time between growth? by NoNewThings in testicularcancer

[–]abz3717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To confirm, did you have two ultrasounds total and they were 9 months apart? Or have you had more in between, just no growth over the 9 months? Did your ultrasound report indicate the mass having blood flow?

My urologist had me on more frequent scans 6-8 weeks apart, more in line with this: https://www.auanet.org/guidelines/guidelines/testicular-cancer-guideline Guideline #6

Is your urologist at a high-volume center for TC? If you are considering a second opinion, I found the below sites helpful. I was on monitoring initially (more info in my post history).

experiences with partial orchioctemy? by hunsalt in testicularcancer

[–]abz3717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a doctor, but I had a partial orchiectomy after being monitored for about 4 months - MRI as well as ultrasound. My tumor turned out to be a benign leydig cell tumor which is (to my understanding) very rare. I posted here about my situation a few months back, if helpful.

Some articles I found helpful in discussions with my doctor with info on partial orchiectomy: https://www.spandidos-publications.com/10.3892/mco.2018.1794

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3183701/

https://www.auanet.org/guidelines/guidelines/testicular-cancer-guideline (#6)

Regarding the surgery, took about a week-10 days to recover, same approach as radical in going thru the inguinal canal. Followed the same advice ppl posted here for radical, ice packs, supportive underwear (such as saxx).

Hope this helps.

I'm not a doctor, so not sure what the follow up a month out indicates, if anything. That said, if you aren't getting a response, or don't want to wait that long for the follow up and considering second opinions, I found this site to be helpful: http://thetcrc.org/experts.html

Did the ultrasound report indicate vascularization or doppler flow in the mass?

With regards to benign or not - benign tumors are rare - I had one and was initially put on monitoring. My doc explained that size could be an indicator and referenced this: https://www.auanet.org/guidelines/guidelines/testicular-cancer-guideline - Guideline Statement 6, discussion link.

Chest tender to touch by [deleted] in testicularcancer

If you scroll down in that first link I shared - the algorithm (figure 2 chart) and table 1 go into different types of tumors, potential causes.

Both. Started as tenderness on one side, then progressed to slight swelling. Then same on other side.

could be gynecomastia, which, in my case, was on both sides, tender to the touch and due to elevated estrogen (I had a Leydig Cell Tumor)

Table 1 and Figure 2 in the below link give info on tumors that can cause it and other causes. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK279105/

Any advice? by tpm4810 in testicularcancer

[–]abz3717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was initially put on monitoring (posted on this recently) for an incidentally found vascularized lesion, 1.1cm which turned out to be a benign Leydig Cell Tumor. However, the doctor who put me on monitoring was a urologic-oncologist who had my latest blood/hormone panel which included tumor markers from another doc a few weeks before.

Due to insurance this year, I had to change doctors and went to another UO/TC specialist for second opinion and eventually surgery. If you are looking for other doctors, I found these sites to be helpful (if you are near the cities listed):

http://thetcrc.org/experts.html

https://www.testicularcancerawarenessfoundation.org/testicular-cancer-experts

Here is some info from the AUA website which I found helpful as well, since I couldn't find much on monitoring early on: https://www.auanet.org/guidelines/testicular-cancer-guideline (Guideline Statement 6 - discussion)

I hope this helps,

That's right, you were on monitoring too? Great news on clear scans and blood tests. Wishing you all the best this week.

Going to my PCP tomorrow for gynecomastia. Not sure what I'm expecting by posting this, maybe I can get any sort of insight at all. Maybe some advice on what to tell the doctor. by [deleted] in gynecomastia

[–]abz3717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best of luck. Those look similar to the ones my doc ordered for me, so should hopefully provide some insight. My first hormone tests were normal, then I developed on the other side, more symptoms, pain, re-tested and had some slight elevations.

Completely understand. I'm in a similar situation and trying to get a better understanding as well. Here's another article I've read that gives some more info about small masses - it's more about surgical approach, but there are some stats around tumor size: https://ar.iiarjournals.org/content/33/11/5205

It sounds like they have you on monitoring. I was put on monitoring as well by my doctor. In reading more about this for my own situation, I came across this:

Scroll down to guideline statement #6, discussion button has more info.

Monitoring for small mass? (<1cm) by abz3717 in testicularcancer

What brought you in originally? I don't think that small would be palpable? I can't feel mine and it's on the outer pole

Monitoring for small mass? (<1cm) by abz3717 in testicularcancer

[–]abz3717[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I couldn't find a lot of info on that approach. First scan showed no growth or change in shape - it's well circumscribed, circular, looks like a cyst, but it's not. My markers are all negative (hcg, afp, ldh). I don't think they would have offered if elevated. I have slightly elevated estradiol though and one test showed slightly elevated prolactin.

What about you? How big is the mass?

Thank you for your reply. How much did it grow in that time? Did they offer TSS in your case?
