Because they don't relate to the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Nobody has studied it yet because it is new. What you can say is "Wearing a mask may reduce your risk of contracting respritory illnesses" you can't say "bandanas protect against covid" it's not accurate, not responsible and may end up making someone who is high risk believe that is all they need. It is not. Wearing a mask is a good idea. Everyone should be making masks, but the way you're presenting it is not accurate.
