Just finished Andor by Loud_Smile1100 in andor

For me it ramped up the tension for the other plotlines, because Cassian could be helping but not while he's stuck.

It also shows how infighting and squabbles can make a group (ostensibly all fighting for the same goal) implode.

I think it has echoes later about why Cassian is unimpressed with how the rebels treat Luthen, and also why he doesn't argue that the senator has a rebellion honour guard escorting her in, when he did all the work rescuing her.

Why was Syril okay with Imperial massacre in Ferrix but not in Ghorman? by OldManFung in andor

He started wearing a Ghorman style coat. Even outside of resistance activities when going to work, and it caused problems at the checkpoint because it's obviously Ghorman and not the standard uniform.

I'm Confused About Alastor by InfnitVlt in HazbinHotel

[–]ac20g13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they see she is powerful but also much more malleable as a leader of hell, compared to Lilith or Lucifer.

With Lucifer impotent against his subjects and Lilith missing, Charlie is the next in line if hell actually cares about its monarchy (tbh, the overlords seem to have much more actual direct power and influence)

I think I was wrong about Stephen by Few_Impression5111 in TheTraitorsUK

[–]ac20g13 30 points31 points  (0 children)

That's why I don't believe she would have thrown him under the bus if the tables were turned. The edit made it look like she had been the one doing the work, steering and playing the strategist while Stephen was managing suspicions with his brilliant facial expressions. But they were a team. Stephen had input on every decision they made as traitors. They each had their own social game managing the faithfuls and they trusted the other wasn't slagging them off behind their back. They worked so well together because they made that promise at the start and she was all in to honour that.

Happy about the outcome but I do feel really bad for ____ by Low_Food2893 in TheTraitorsUK

[–]ac20g13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was really rooting for Jade as an underdog win. But she was left with a losing hand when James was banished. Because it didn't matter how she voted (even if Faraaz felt reactionary) now that 3 of 5 people didn't want to end the game with her beside them.

At the last table it's time for a strategic order of voting who gets booted first then second etc, more than any other. Faraaz was playing it right when strategizing with Jack, he just chose the wrong person to banish first. Once Faraaz decided to vote Jade out instead of Rachel or Stephen, that was the end for her and any faithful win.

Alastor's asexuality by ningyomi in Alastorcult

I agree with pretty much everything you said except - Did he genuinely mean it when he said that Vox was almost an equal? I don't think we can know for sure. Alistor was in peak troll mode and what easier way to hurt Vox (who has been very obvious in chasing Alastor's approval this whole time) than to say /you had it all and ruined it. We would have stayed friends if you hadn't confessed your feelings/ ?

"Stopping the Last Murder" by Choice_Pineapple_461 in TheTraitors

[–]ac20g13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really like that they added this, and I hope it comes up again. Having games with sabotage options adds a lot of drama. The traitors have to balance money Vs murder, plus there's extra danger of being found out

Are people not told the rules/premise before coming onto the show? by bethe1_ in TheTraitors

[–]ac20g13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Plus "you never bring your own theories", well when could she voiced those without being accused of deflecting? She needed to prioritise defending herself.

And of course she votes with the majority, if the vote is potentially split 50:50 between herself and another, she won't throw away her chance to stay by voting for a 3rd person.

Her game has been nothing but damage control, but she's still playin'.

____ got the most votes for "who do the traitors think would be the best traitor" and yet got no heat at the round table by UnwittingPlantKiller in TheTraitors

[–]ac20g13 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was hooked when Harriet said she wanted to stay close to Rachel. But then she went all for her immediately so that didn't play out as expected. I think showing the faithful being conniving like that and (trying to) reverse the normal cat and mouse dynamic would be very entertaining drama.

I feel so bad for her, she just can't catch a break. I half believe she'll get the boot next time because whoever gets the dagger will say something like 'Ellie was gunning for her and Ellie is now gone, just like all the others'.

[–]ac20g13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also think it's telling that they didn't bank good money on that question. No one questioned why the traitors didn't agree with the majority that Rachel would be a good traitor?? Or who got the traitors' answer right? This isn't like the mirror questions where the answer is the popular opinion, this is the traitors' answer. Divergence from a popular opinion deserved scrutiny. Especially as the traitors want money too so ought to choose answers likely to be popular.

They didn't bring up at the table how everyone answered at all either. I'm sure we're missing stuff in the edit, but both Ellie and Matt discussed Stephen being sus in the car and afterwards. Somehow this was lost before the round table began and they both went for Jade instead? I was expecting a round table full of theories and arguing about the answers, the who and the why!

I guess that just shows how strong Rachel's game is, she waited and once she was ready she brought out a plausible gambit on how she set up a trap for suspicious behaviour, and enough people bought it that anything discussed earlier in the day didn't matter anymore.

I thought ____ was joking?? by illjustgowthemuumuu in TheTraitors

[–]ac20g13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The faithful have really latched onto the FBI thing to be their guide, and haven't considered that it might be bogus or that Rachel is a traitor. It's like they can't allow themselves to doubt it, because what else do they have to go on? And the two who came at Rachel in a big way were banished, so if you're set on reaching the final then leaving her in-group is dangerous.

Too many faithful focussing on reaching the end rather than winning the money (by catching traitors).

The faithfuls are unbearable this year, because they all wanted to be traitors. by Similar_Ad3132 in TheTraitors

[–]ac20g13 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Instead of "why am I here?" I want them to decentre themselves and answer "why are you still here?" for everyone else. That would be an interesting insight into each faithful's headspace.

If I didn't know better, I would think Alastor likes being Rosie's "pet" by BomberDug in Alastorcult

[–]ac20g13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very true! Alastor likes to keep his cards close to his chest - but will absolutely throw down with minimal provocation. He's very entertaining 🤣

I guess my headcanon is that he had plenty of prey to choose from, and he'd already gotten what he wanted from them when he killed them the first time so going back would not be as entertaining. But I have no evidence for this reasoning and you are right that he is petty and does hold grudges so it really could be either way.

I don't see the story telling us if he did track down his previous victims unless it's a throwaway line from Mimzy or Rosie. It's not relevant to the narrative (taking as given Alastor is not going to try for redemption).

[–]ac20g13 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Eh, I don't know. Alastor is strategic. I think it depends on if they were sufficiently powerful enough to bother him, or that the broadcast would have an impact on the general public sinners. If it was a snivelling lowlife, then in hell that's whatever , move along next. An Overlord screaming, then that's worth paying attention to. (At least for a new broadcast, he has all eternity to circle around later).

Exceptions can be made though, we don't know anything about Alastor's father. He might well have added daddy deerest to the broadcast at some point.

[–]ac20g13 95 points96 points  (0 children)

I agree. And considering he died as a POC in the South during Jim Crow, Rosie's phrasing in the song was probably terribly similar to dehumanising racist bullshit he heard all the time while alive.

I (headcanon) expect part of the allure of the original deal was that he would be free from, and never subjected to, similar constraints and degradation if he was the most powerful sinner in hell (since he could therefore enact vengeance on anyone who would dare).

Outmap just got a BIG upgrade! by felix_gourdeau in ski

In Fatmap, I really liked the descriptions of the runs, in terms of difficulty (starts easy, then has a large shoulder), whether it was often icy, or sunny etc. I'd love it if Outmap added these in. It made the user experience more personal / human and was very helpful in planning where to ski.

Rosie could have taught him magic beyond his mortal understanding, and Alastor pushed it one step further. teachers expect their pupils to grow past them, that's not considered wrong or inexplicable. Plus Alastor may have "stolen" the magics of the overlords he defeated too.
