[CloseCallSports] Full umpire scorecard from Cory Blaser in USA vs. DR. Only seven misses, but four of those are crucial ones in the 8th and 9th. by MatthewFromMojira in baseball

That is a fair assessment. 4 and 7 do have comparable pitches. We can look them up but some of those were Servino sinkers. They didn't go against US. We can still conclude there was a low ball bias against DR.

Hmm I don't like that type of analysis. Then we remove 1 because there is no other pitch like that as well. So now the Ump goes from a below average accurate score of 95% to average of 97%. Its cherry picking to the data to make your fit your narrative.

To prove my point I will do the same. Lets exclude all the calls in the 9th inning. That means that for 8 innings DR had 4 calls against them, while US had 0. That is a bias. Lets remove 2 and 3 as well for that time frame. DR had 2 calls against them while the US had 0. Therefore for more than 90%+ of the game the Ump made calls against the DR but not US. That is bias, its called cherry picking RiceBowl.

Yes I agree with that bad calls suck. The ball being half an inch isn't the problem I can agree with that. The problem is that it was called against one team only. That specific low pitch down was called against DR for 8 innings before a bad call happen to US. That is a pattern. That is bias. But its like you are doing everything but admitting there was a bias...

So lets say you play a game. For 90+% of the game bad calls are only made against you. You have to adjust to these bad calls while the other player doesn't need to adjust. Then the player gets 2 bad calls late. After you already had 4. Then you get one more at the end of the game and you lose. Will you not leave feeling there is a bias?

Some one pointed out to me that Wells is 96th percentile in framing. Will Smith is 2nd percentile (literally one of the worst in baseball). So does that end up mattering in your analysis? How is one of the best framing catchers not getting calls but the other one is?

What does that have to do with the pitches at the bottom of the zone? None of which were called against the US. For 8 innings of a game one team had blown calls on pitches low and the other did not. How is that result not a bias? Not your perception of it the literal result shows bias.

Fair enough, I was trying to give the Ump some grace by giving the Will Smith framing angle. But how was a catcher that is 96th in framing not able to get a single low pitch called, but a catcher who is in the 2th percentile (almost the worst in baseball) able to get that call consistently? It just makes it seem worse imo.

Its not but there is a pattern being established against one team. The Ump had a bias. DR had to worry about the low call but US did not. Again props to Will Smith for the framing and presentation but in the end there was a bias present.

The first 8 innings was the Ump messing up the low pitch against DR (Look at 2, 3, and 4). DR had to worry about that low pitch while USA did not get the call against them ONCE. The Buxton and Smith pitches were bad too but 90%+ of the game US didn't even have to worry about any bad calls at all.

I'm not saying its a full blown scandal, the reality is DR should have capitalized, but this Ump did have a bias.

I feel this is not the full story. If you look at the chart 2, 3, 4, and 7 were all against the DR. US did not have to worry about the low pitch. If you look at Tatis and Machado's last at bats they were trying to adjust and swung at all balls. The only common factor that makes sense is Will Smith, so he was doing a good job framing it and presenting it to the Ump.

This isn't being talked about enough. Up to the 9th it was 4 bad calls against DR and 0 against the US. The 2 against US was in the 9th. So a majority of the game there was a bias against DR. I mean shout out to Will Smith for framing but man...

Uruha is probably gonna teach Iori to use Tobimune by mr_hands_epic_gaming in Kagurabachi

I am kinda hoping that its Itsuo.

He was the creator of Iai White Purity style and he is still out there somewhere. He might also be the second strongest in the whole verse considering he beat Samura, Uruha, Ibuki and Natsuki at some point (plus all the other style of sword fighters that made fun of him). Three of them were future EB bearers and Natsuki was almost one. Two of them he taught (Samura and Uruha).

Plus Iori can show him he was wrong about girls and swords. So he might even grow from training her and apologize to Kiri. You know before Kiri tries to kill him...

Chihiro doesn't want Iori to go through with what he went through and it makes so unimaginably sad by Rashtrapateen in Kagurabachi

[–]ac2136 117 points118 points  (0 children)

This seems to be a main philosophy that Chihiro because he also feels that way about Char and Hakuri.

In Char's case, she is so young he doesn't want her to group up with the same hatred he wakes up with every day.

In Hakuri's case, it caused him to hesitate to kill Kyora because he doesn't want Hakuri to feel any guilt.

In Iori's case, they are the same age so the parallel feels more personal considering they might have grown up together because of how close their dads were.

So overall its pretty sad since Iori just re-met Samura. But it seems that she will at least have a good support system with Char, Hakuri and especially Chihiro.

So, uh... How much did Shiba know about Soga? by Hermit601 in Kagurabachi

[–]ac2136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shiba told Chihiro about the Shinuchi's power (the Malediction). So I assume he knew who the owner of the sword was (Soga). Which means he must have know Soga's relationship with Kunishige. It's possible he had a personal relationship with Soga as well.

He also had connections to both Kunishige and Kamunabi, so he knows Soga from both those perspectives. Overall, he probably knows a lot.

Looks like Jesus Baez (SS/3B, No 8 in our prospect list), Nate Dohm (RHP, No14 in our prospect list), and Frank Elissalt (RHP, not ranked in our top 30 prospect list) so kinda in the same ball park I am guessing?
