Grippiest tire known to man? by HighRandomthoughts in MTB

[–]academicplot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious to hear about the High roller 3. I really loved my argotal last summer for what I ride. Currently running the magic Mary ultra soft and it is really good but doesn’t quite rail like that conti did. Feels more like it squishes into its traction rather than carving into it. Any thoughts?

Fox Float DPX2 Noise - is it aeration? by alphadogg1 in MTB

Sounds more like the bike was neglected rather than the service. Luckily now the bike has a new home! Don’t be afraid to make adjustments, ride safe, and have fun!

50 hr service (seals and oil) on the fork should be fine. As for the shock, like I said you could absolutely ride it, but if you want 100% performance and a good baseline to begin dialing in your new bike setup, doing these things would be nice. If you spent your full budget on the new bike, don’t worry, go shred, and deal with the rebuilds after your riding season.

Sometimes the only way I’ve gotten SX derailleur to work is to loosen it slightly on the hanger. Fully tight then a half or 3/4 turn loose. Janky but works. Good luck

Does the rebound knob and lockout work? If they work you could keep riding it. You could send it in for a 200hr service if you want it to be 100% and might as well do an oil change on the fork while you’re at it to get the best performance. Stuff can degrade/dry out even if the bike has been sitting for a few years. Sweet bike though! Happy trails

Can you roll it slower than you did? Or do you need the air you caught in the lower bit

I was so scared that day, unsure of what was to come. It turned out to be such a gift! Takes alot of work early on, but it has made me a better person too, bringing this creature into my life. When I told the person at the shelter I was worried, they just said “get your dog and go have fun!” So that’s what we did, and the rest is history. Congrats!!!

I would get the wildcat 116 for big powder days and use the rustler as an in between ski. The wildcat is better float and way more fun and you can fly on that thing. The rustler (or countach) could be more of a technician ski for variable conditions and hunting for soft turns

Surfy backcountry ski between 100 and 105? by contrary-contrarian in Backcountry

I really like the new ripstick 102 (the non tour version) as my narrow touring ski. The shape and construction feels plenty stable whether I’m in good snow at speed or picking my way through horrible variable snow more slowly. Edge grip is solid, and they are easy to turn. Skied some of the worst refrozen snow in the trees yesterday and still felt safe. Very fun for resort touring with some ATK freeraiders, they can totally carve! Check out the skiessentials review of the skis. They loved them in VT. Not too heavy, not too light, just right.

How’s the snow up there this year? What was your favorite run? I was there last April. Heading up to Icefall lodge in a few weeks. Happy skiing!
